 Dan et Nephtali, Gad et Asser.

 Toutes les personnes issues de Jacob étaient soixante et dix; et Joseph était en Égypte.

 Or Joseph mourut, ainsi que tous ses frères, et toute cette génération.

 And Joseph [3130] died, [4191] and all his brethren, [0251] and all that generation. [1755]

 Et les enfants d'Israël s'accrurent et foisonnèrent, et se multiplièrent et devinrent très puissants; et le pays en fut rempli.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] were fruitful, [6509] and increased abundantly, [8317] and multiplied, [7235] and waxed exceeding [3966] [3966] mighty; [6105] and the land [0776] was filled [4390] with them.

 Mais il s'éleva sur l'Égypte un nouveau roi, qui n'avait point connu Joseph.

 Now there arose up [6965] a new [2319] king [4428] over Egypt, [4714] which knew [3045] not Joseph. [3130]

 Et il dit à son peuple: Voici, le peuple des enfants d'Israël est plus grand et plus puissant que nous;

 And he said [0559] unto his people, [5971] Behold, the people [5971] of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] [are] more [7227] and mightier [6099] than we:

 Allons! agissons prudemment avec lui, de peur qu'il ne s'accroisse, et que s'il arrive quelque guerre, il ne se joigne aussi à nos ennemis, ne combatte contre nous, et ne monte hors du pays.

 Come on, [3051] let us deal wisely [2449] with them; lest they multiply, [7235] and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out [7122] any war, [4421] they [1931] join [3254] also unto our enemies, [8130] and fight [3898] against us, and [so] get them up [5927] out of the land. [0776]

 Ils établirent donc sur lui des chefs de corvées, pour l'accabler par leurs travaux; et il bâtit pour Pharaon des villes de munitions, Pithom et Ramsès.

 Therefore they did set [7760] over them taskmasters [4522] [8269] to afflict [6031] them with their burdens. [5450] And they built [1129] for Pharaoh [6547] treasure [4543] cities, [5892] Pithom [6619] and Raamses. [7486]

 Mais plus ils l'accablaient, plus il multipliait et se répandait; et ils prirent peur des enfants d'Israël.

 But the more they afflicted [6031] them, the more [3651] they multiplied [7235] and [3651] grew. [6555] And they were grieved [6973] because [6440] of the children [1121] of Israel. [3478]

 Et les Égyptiens firent servir les enfants d'Israël avec rigueur;

 And the Egyptians [4714] made the children [1121] of Israel [3478] to serve [5647] with rigour: [6531]

 Et ils leur rendirent la vie amère, par un rude travail à l'argile et aux briques, et par toutes sortes de travaux des champs, ainsi que tous les services qu'ils leur imposaient avec rigueur.

 And they made their lives [2416] bitter [4843] with hard [7186] bondage, [5656] in morter, [2563] and in brick, [3843] and in all manner of service [5656] in the field: [7704] all their service, [5656] wherein they made them serve, [5647] [was] with rigour. [6531]

 Le roi d'Égypte parla aussi aux sages-femmes des Hébreux, dont l'une s'appelait Shiphra, et l'autre Pua,

 And the king [4428] of Egypt [4714] spake [0559] to the Hebrew [5680] midwives, [3205] of which the name [8034] of the one [0259] [was] Shiphrah, [8236] and the name [8034] of the other [8145] Puah: [6326]

 Et il dit: Quand vous accoucherez les femmes des Hébreux, et que vous les verrez sur les sièges, si c'est un fils, vous le ferez mourir; mais si c'est une fille, qu'elle vive.

 And he said, [0559] When ye do the office of a midwife [3205] to the Hebrew women, [5680] and see [7200] [them] upon the stools; [0070] if it [be] a son, [1121] then ye shall kill [4191] him: but if it [be] a daughter, [1323] then she shall live. [2425]

 Mais les sages-femmes craignirent Dieu, et ne firent pas ce que le roi d'Égypte leur avait dit; et elles laissèrent vivre les garçons.

 But the midwives [3205] feared [3372] God, [0430] and did [6213] not as the king [4428] of Egypt [4714] commanded [1696] them, but saved the men children [3206] alive. [2421]

 Alors le roi d'Égypte appela les sages-femmes, et leur dit: Pourquoi avez-vous fait ainsi, et avez-vous laissé vivre les garçons?

 And the king [4428] of Egypt [4714] called [7121] for the midwives, [3205] and said [0559] unto them, Why [4069] have ye done [6213] this thing, [1697] and have saved the men children [3206] alive? [2421]

 Et les sages-femmes répondirent à Pharaon: C'est que les femmes des Hébreux ne sont point comme les Égyptiennes, car elles sont vigoureuses; avant que la sage-femme arrive auprès d'elles, elles ont accouché.

 And the midwives [3205] said [0559] unto Pharaoh, [6547] Because the Hebrew women [5680] [are] not as the Egyptian [4713] women; [0802] for they [are] lively, [2422] and are delivered [3205] ere [2962] the midwives [3205] come in [0935] unto them.

 Et Dieu fit du bien aux sages-femmes; et le peuple se multiplia et devint très nombreux.

 Therefore God [0430] dealt well [3190] with the midwives: [3205] and the people [5971] multiplied, [7235] and waxed very [3966] mighty. [6105]

 Et parce que les sages-femmes craignirent Dieu, il fit prospérer leurs maisons.

 And it came to pass, because the midwives [3205] feared [3372] God, [0430] that he made [6213] them houses. [1004]

 Alors Pharaon donna cet ordre à tout son peuple: Jetez dans le fleuve tous les fils qui naîtront, mais laissez vivre toutes les filles.

 And Pharaoh [6547] charged [6680] all his people, [5971] saying, [0559] Every son [1121] that is born [3209] ye shall cast [7993] into the river, [2975] and every daughter [1323] ye shall save alive. [2421]

 Or, un homme de la maison de Lévi alla prendre pour femme une fille de Lévi.

 And there went [3212] a man [0376] of the house [1004] of Levi, [3878] and took [3947] [to wife] a daughter [1323] of Levi. [3878]

 Et cette femme conçut, et enfanta un fils; et, voyant qu'il était beau, elle le cacha trois mois.

 And the woman [0802] conceived, [2029] and bare [3205] a son: [1121] and when she saw [7200] him that he [was a] goodly [2896] [child], she hid [6845] him three [7969] months. [3391]

 Mais, ne pouvant le tenir caché plus longtemps, elle prit un coffret de joncs, et l'enduisit de bitume et de poix; ensuite elle y mit l'enfant, et le posa dans les roseaux sur la rive du fleuve.

 And when she could [3201] not longer [5750] hide [6845] him, she took [3947] for him an ark [8392] of bulrushes, [1573] and daubed [2560] it with slime [2564] and with pitch, [2203] and put [7760] the child [3206] therein; and she laid [7760] [it] in the flags [5488] by the river's [2975] brink.  Et sa sœur se tint là, à distance, pour savoir ce qui lui arriverait.

 And his sister [0269] stood [3320] afar off, [7350] to wit [3045] what would be done [6213] to him.

 Or, la fille de Pharaon descendit au fleuve pour se baigner; et ses femmes se promenaient sur le bord du fleuve; et elle vit le coffret au milieu des roseaux, et envoya sa servante pour le prendre.

 And the daughter [1323] of Pharaoh [6547] came down [3381] to wash [7364] [herself] at the river; [2975] and her maidens [5291] walked [1980] along by the river's [2975] side; [3027] and when she saw [7200] the ark [8392] among [8432] the flags, [5488] she sent [7971] her maid [0519] to fetch [3947] it.

 Et elle l'ouvrit et vit l'enfant; et voici, c'était un petit garçon, qui pleurait. Elle en fut touchée de compassion, et dit: C'est un des enfants des Hébreux.

 And when she had opened [6605] [it], she saw [7200] the child: [3206] and, behold, the babe [5288] wept. [1058] And she had compassion [2550] on him, and said, [0559] This [is one] of the Hebrews' [5680] children. [3206]

 Alors la sœur de l'enfant dit à la fille de Pharaon: Irai-je t'appeler une nourrice d'entre les femmes des Hébreux, et elle t'allaitera cet enfant?

 Then said [0559] his sister [0269] to Pharaoh's [6547] daughter, [1323] Shall I go [3212] and call [7121] to thee a nurse [0802] [3243] of the Hebrew women, [5680] that she may nurse [3243] the child [3206] for thee?

 Et la fille de Pharaon lui répondit: Va. Et la jeune fille s'en alla, et appela la mère de l'enfant.

 And Pharaoh's [6547] daughter [1323] said [0559] to her, Go. [3212] And the maid [5959] went [3212] and called [7121] the child's [3206] mother. [0517]

 La fille de Pharaon lui dit: Emporte cet enfant et allaite-le-moi, et je te donnerai ton salaire. Et la femme prit l'enfant, et l'allaita.

 And Pharaoh's [6547] daughter [1323] said [0559] unto her, Take [3212] this child [3206] away, and nurse [3243] it for me, and I will give [5414] [thee] thy wages. [7939] And the woman [0802] took [3947] the child, [3206] and nursed [5134] it.

 Et quand l'enfant eut grandi, elle l'amena à la fille de Pharaon, qui l'adopta pour son fils; et elle le nomma Moïse (sauvé des eaux), parce que, dit-elle, je l'ai retiré des eaux.

 And the child [3206] grew, [1431] and she brought [0935] him unto Pharaoh's [6547] daughter, [1323] and he became her son. [1121] And she called [7121] his name [8034] Moses: [4872] and she said, [0559] Because I drew [4871] him out of the water. [4325]

 Or il arriva, en ces jours-là, lorsque Moïse fut devenu grand, qu'il sortit vers ses frères, et vit leurs durs travaux. Il vit aussi un Égyptien qui frappait un Hébreu d'entre ses frères;

 And it came to pass in those days, [3117] when Moses [4872] was grown, [1431] that he went out [3318] unto his brethren, [0251] and looked [7200] on their burdens: [5450] and he spied [7200] an Egyptian [4713] [0376] smiting [5221] an Hebrew, [5680] [0376] one of his brethren. [0251]

 Alors il regarda çà et là, et voyant qu'il n'y avait personne, il tua l'Égyptien, et le cacha dans le sable.

 And he looked [6437] this way [3541] and that way, [3541] and when he saw [7200] that [there was] no man, [0376] he slew [5221] the Egyptian, [4713] and hid [2934] him in the sand. [2344]

 Et il sortit le second jour, et voici, deux hommes hébreux se querellaient, et il dit à celui qui avait tort: Pourquoi frappes-tu ton prochain?

 And when he went out [3318] the second [8145] day, [3117] behold, two [8147] men [0582] of the Hebrews [5680] strove [5327] together: and he said [0559] to him that did the wrong, [7563] Wherefore smitest [5221] thou thy fellow? [7453]

 Mais il répondit: Qui t'a établi prince et juge sur nous? Est-ce que tu veux me tuer, comme tu as tué l'Égyptien? Et Moïse craignit, et il dit: Certainement, le fait est connu.

 And he said, [0559] Who made [7760] thee [0376] a prince [8269] and a judge [8199] over us? intendest [0559] thou to kill [2026] me, as thou killedst [2026] the Egyptian? [4713] And Moses [4872] feared, [3372] and said, [0559] Surely [0403] this thing [1697] is known. [3045]

 Or, Pharaon, ayant appris ce fait, chercha à faire mourir Moïse. Mais Moïse s'enfuit de devant Pharaon, et s'arrêta au pays de Madian, et il s'assit auprès d'un puits.

 Now when Pharaoh [6547] heard [8085] this thing, [1697] he sought [1245] to slay [2026] Moses. [4872] But Moses [4872] fled [1272] from the face [6440] of Pharaoh, [6547] and dwelt [3427] in the land [0776] of Midian: [4080] and he sat down [3427] by a well. [0875]

 Or, le sacrificateur de Madian avait sept filles, qui vinrent puiser de l'eau et remplir les auges, pour abreuver le troupeau de leur père.

 Now the priest [3548] of Midian [4080] had seven [7651] daughters: [1323] and they came [0935] and drew [1802] [water], and filled [4390] the troughs [7298] to water [8248] their father's [0001] flock. [6629]

 Mais les bergers vinrent, et les chassèrent. Alors Moïse se leva et les secourut, et abreuva leur troupeau.

 And the shepherds [7462] came [0935] and drove them away: [1644] but Moses [4872] stood up [6965] and helped [3467] them, and watered [8248] their flock. [6629]

 Et quand elles furent revenues chez Réuël leur père, il leur dit: Pourquoi êtes-vous revenues sitôt aujourd'hui?

 And when they came [0935] to Reuel [7467] their father, [0001] he said, [0559] How [4069] [is it that] ye are come [0935] so soon [4116] to day? [3117]

 Elles répondirent: Un homme égyptien nous a délivrées de la main des bergers, et même il nous a puisé de l'eau abondamment, et a abreuvé le troupeau.

 And they said, [0559] An Egyptian [4713] [0376] delivered [5337] us out of the hand [3027] of the shepherds, [7462] and also drew [1802] [water] enough [1802] for us, and watered [8248] the flock. [6629]

 Alors il dit à ses filles: Et où est-il? Pourquoi avez-vous laissé cet homme? Appelez-le, et qu'il mange du pain.

 And he said [0559] unto his daughters, [1323] And where [is] he? why [is] it [that] ye have left [5800] the man? [0376] call [7121] him, that he may eat [0398] bread. [3899]

 Et Moïse consentit à demeurer avec cet homme, qui donna Séphora, sa fille, à Moïse.

 And Moses [4872] was content [2974] to dwell [3427] with the man: [0376] and he gave [5414] Moses [4872] Zipporah [6855] his daughter. [1323]

 Et elle enfanta un fils, et il le nomma Guershom (étranger là), car, dit-il, j'ai séjourné dans un pays étranger.

 And she bare [3205] [him] a son, [1121] and he called [7121] his name [8034] Gershom: [1647] for he said, [0559] I have been a stranger [1616] in a strange [5237] land. [0776]

 Or, il arriva, longtemps après, que le roi d'Égypte mourut; et les enfants d'Israël, qui gémissaient à cause de la servitude, crièrent, et le cri de leur servitude monta vers Dieu.

 And it came to pass in process [1992] [7227] of time, [3117] that the king [4428] of Egypt [4714] died: [4191] and the children [1121] of Israel [3478] sighed [0584] by reason of [4480] the bondage, [5656] and they cried, [2199] and their cry [7775] came up [5927] unto God [0430] by reason of the bondage. [5656]

 Et Dieu entendit leurs gémissements; et Dieu se souvint de son alliance avec Abraham, avec Isaac, et avec Jacob.

 And God [0430] heard [8085] their groaning, [5009] and God [0430] remembered [2142] his covenant [1285] with Abraham, [0085] with Isaac, [3327] and with Jacob. [3290]

 Et Dieu regarda les enfants d'Israël, et Dieu connut leur état.

 And God [0430] looked [7200] upon the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] and God [0430] had respect [3045] unto [them].

 Or, Moïse paissait le troupeau de Jéthro, son beau-père, sacrificateur de Madian; et il mena le troupeau derrière le désert, et vint à la montagne de Dieu, à Horeb.

 Now Moses [4872] kept [1961] [7462] the flock [6629] of Jethro [3503] his father in law, [2859] the priest [3548] of Midian: [4080] and he led [5090] the flock [6629] to the backside [0310] of the desert, [4057] and came [0935] to the mountain [2022] of God, [0430] [even] to Horeb. [2722]

 Et l'ange de YEHOVAH lui apparut dans une flamme de feu, du milieu d'un buisson; et il regarda, et voici, le buisson était tout en feu; mais le buisson ne se consumait point.

 And the angel [4397] of the LORD [3068] appeared [7200] unto him in a flame [3827] of fire [0784] out of the midst [8432] of a bush: [5572] and he looked, [7200] and, behold, the bush [5572] burned [1197] with fire, [0784] and the bush [5572] [was] not consumed. [0398]

 Alors Moïse dit: Je me détournerai, et je verrai cette grande vision, et pourquoi le buisson ne se consume point.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] I will now turn aside, [5493] and see [7200] this great [1419] sight, [4758] why [4069] the bush [5572] is not burnt. [1197]

 Et YEHOVAH vit qu'il se détournait pour regarder; et Dieu l'appela du milieu du buisson, et dit: Moïse, Moïse!

 And when the LORD [3068] saw [7200] that he turned aside [5493] to see, [7200] God [0430] called [7121] unto him out of the midst [8432] of the bush, [5572] and said, [0559] Moses, [4872] Moses. [4872] And he said, [0559] Here [am] I.

 Et il répondit: Me voici! Et Dieu dit: N'approche point d'ici. Enlève tes sandales de tes pieds; car le lieu où tu te tiens, est une terre sainte.

 And he said, [0559] Draw not nigh [7126] hither: [1988] put off [5394] thy shoes [5275] from off thy feet, [7272] for the place [4725] whereon [0834] thou standest [5975] [is] holy [6944] ground. [0127]

 Puis il dit: JE SUIS le Dieu de ton père, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob. Et Moïse cacha son visage, car il craignait de regarder vers Dieu.

 Moreover he said, [0559] I [am] the God [0430] of thy father, [0001] the God [0430] of Abraham, [0085] the God [0430] of Isaac, [3327] and the God [0430] of Jacob. [3290] And Moses [4872] hid [5641] his face; [6440] for he was afraid [3372] to look [5027] upon God. [0430]

 Et YEHOVAH dit: J'ai bien vu l'affliction de mon peuple qui est en Égypte, et j'ai entendu le cri qu'il jette à cause de ses exacteurs; car je connais ses douleurs.

 And the LORD [3068] said, [0559] I have surely [7200] seen [7200] the affliction [6040] of my people [5971] which [are] in Egypt, [4714] and have heard [8085] their cry [6818] by reason [6440] of their taskmasters; [5065] for I know [3045] their sorrows; [4341]

 Et je suis descendu pour le délivrer de la main des Égyptiens, et pour le faire monter de ce pays-là dans un pays bon et spacieux, dans un pays où coulent le lait et le miel, au lieu où sont les Cananéens, les Héthiens, les Amoréens, les Phéréziens, les Héviens et les Jébusiens.

 And I am come down [3381] to deliver [5337] them out of the hand [3027] of the Egyptians, [4714] and to bring them up [5927] out of that land [0776] unto a good [2896] land [0776] and a large, [7342] unto a land [0776] flowing [2100] with milk [2461] and honey; [1706] unto the place [4725] of the Canaanites, [3669] and the Hittites, [2850] and the Amorites, [0567] and the Perizzites, [6522] and the Hivites, [2340] and the Jebusites. [2983]

 Et maintenant, voici, le cri des enfants d'Israël est venu jusqu'à moi, et j'ai vu aussi l'oppression dont les Égyptiens les accablent.

 Now therefore, behold, the cry [6818] of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] is come [0935] unto me: and I have also seen [7200] the oppression [3906] wherewith the Egyptians [4714] oppress [3905] them.

 Maintenant donc, viens, que je t'envoie vers Pharaon, et fais sortir mon peuple, les enfants d'Israël, hors d'Égypte.

 Come [3212] now therefore, and I will send [7971] thee unto Pharaoh, [6547] that thou mayest bring forth [3318] my people [5971] the children [1121] of Israel [3478] out of Egypt. [4714]

 Alors Moïse répondit à Dieu: Qui suis-je, pour aller vers Pharaon, et pour faire sortir d'Égypte les enfants d'Israël?

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto God, [0430] Who [am] I, that I should go [3212] unto Pharaoh, [6547] and that I should bring forth [3318] the children [1121] of Israel [3478] out of Egypt? [4714]

 Et Dieu dit: Je serai avec toi. Et voici pour toi le signe que c'est moi qui t'envoie: Quand tu auras fait sortir d'Égypte le peuple, vous servirez Dieu sur cette montagne.

 And he said, [0559] Certainly [3588] I will be with thee; and this [shall be] a token [0226] unto thee, that I have sent [7971] thee: When thou hast brought forth [3318] the people [5971] out of Egypt, [4714] ye shall serve [5647] God [0430] upon this mountain. [2022]

 Et Moïse dit à Dieu: Voici, j'irai vers les enfants d'Israël, et je leur dirai: Le Dieu de vos pères m'a envoyé vers vous; mais s'ils me disent: Quel est son nom? que leur dirais-je?

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto God, [0430] Behold, [when] I come [0935] unto the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] and shall say [0559] unto them, The God [0430] of your fathers [0001] hath sent [7971] me unto you; and they shall say [0559] to me, What [is] his name? [8034] what shall I say [0559] unto them?

 Alors Dieu dit à Moïse: JE SUIS CELUI QUI SUIS. Puis il dit: Tu diras ainsi aux enfants d'Israël: Celui qui s'appelle JE SUIS, m'a envoyé vers vous.

 And God [0430] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] I AM [1961] THAT I AM: [1961] and he said, [0559] Thus shalt thou say [0559] unto the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] I AM hath sent [7971] me unto you.

 Dieu dit encore à Moïse: Tu diras ainsi aux enfants d'Israël: YEHOVAH, le Dieu de vos pères, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob m'a envoyé vers vous. C'est là mon nom éternellement; c'est là ma commémoration dans tous les âges.

 And God [0430] said [0559] moreover [5750] unto Moses, [4872] Thus shalt thou say [0559] unto the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] The LORD [3068] God [0430] of your fathers, [0001] the God [0430] of Abraham, [0085] the God [0430] of Isaac, [3327] and the God [0430] of Jacob, [3290] hath sent [7971] me unto you: this [is] my name [8034] for ever, [5769] and this [is] my memorial [2143] unto all [1755] generations.  Va, et assemble les anciens d'Israël, et dis-leur: YEHOVAH, le Dieu de vos pères m'est apparu, le Dieu d'Abraham, d'Isaac, et de Jacob, et m'a dit: Certainement, je vous ai visités, et j'ai vu ce qu'on vous fait en Égypte.

 Go, [3212] and gather [0622] the elders [2205] of Israel [3478] together, and say [0559] unto them, The LORD [3068] God [0430] of your fathers, [0001] the God [0430] of Abraham, [0085] of Isaac, [3327] and of Jacob, [3290] appeared [7200] unto me, saying, [0559] I have surely [6485] visited [6485] you, and [seen] that which is done [6213] to you in Egypt: [4714]

 Et j'ai dit: Je vous ferai remonter de l'affliction de l'Égypte, au pays des Cananéens, des Héthiens, des Amoréens, des Phéréziens, des Héviens et des Jébusiens, dans un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.

 And I have said, [0559] I will bring you up [5927] out of the affliction [6040] of Egypt [4714] unto the land [0776] of the Canaanites, [3669] and the Hittites, [2850] and the Amorites, [0567] and the Perizzites, [6522] and the Hivites, [2340] and the Jebusites, [2983] unto a land [0776] flowing [2100] with milk [2461] and honey. [1706]

 Et ils obéiront à ta voix; et tu iras, toi et les anciens d'Israël, vers le roi d'Égypte, et vous lui direz: YEHOVAH, le Dieu des Hébreux, est venu au-devant de nous. Maintenant donc laisse-nous aller le chemin de trois jours au désert, et sacrifier à YEHOVAH notre Dieu.

 And they shall hearken [8085] to thy voice: [6963] and thou shalt come, [0935] thou and the elders [2205] of Israel, [3478] unto the king [4428] of Egypt, [4714] and ye shall say [0559] unto him, The LORD [3068] God [0430] of the Hebrews [5680] hath met [7136] with us: and now let us go, [3212] we beseech thee, three [7969] days' [3117] journey [1870] into the wilderness, [4057] that we may sacrifice [2076] to the LORD [3068] our God.  Or, je sais que le roi d'Égypte ne vous permettra point de vous en aller, pas même contraint par une main forte.

 And I am sure [3045] that the king [4428] of Egypt [4714] will not let [5414] you go, [1980] no, not by a mighty [2389] hand. [3027]

 Mais j'étendrai ma main, et je frapperai l'Égypte par toutes mes merveilles que je ferai au milieu d'elle; et après cela, il vous laissera aller.

 And I will stretch out [7971] my hand, [3027] and smite [5221] Egypt [4714] with all my wonders [6381] which I will do [6213] in the midst [7130] thereof: and after [0310] that he will let you go. [7971]

 Et je ferai trouver grâce à ce peuple aux yeux des Égyptiens, et il arrivera, quand vous partirez, que vous ne vous en irez point à vide.

 And I will give [5414] this people [5971] favour [2580] in the sight [5869] of the Egyptians: [4714] and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, [3212] ye shall not go [3212] empty: [7387]

 Mais chaque femme demandera à sa voisine, et à l'hôtesse de sa maison, des objets d'argent et d'or, et des vêtements; vous les mettrez sur vos fils et sur vos filles, et vous dépouillerez ainsi les Égyptiens.

 But every woman [0802] shall borrow [7592] of her neighbour, [7934] and of her that sojourneth [1481] in her house, [1004] jewels [3627] of silver, [3701] and jewels [3627] of gold, [2091] and raiment: [8071] and ye shall put [7760] [them] upon your sons, [1121] and upon your daughters; [1323] and ye shall spoil [5337] the Egyptians.  Et Moïse répondit, et dit: Mais voici, ils ne me croiront point, et ils n'obéiront point à ma voix; car ils diront: YEHOVAH ne t'est point apparu.

 And Moses [4872] answered [6030] and said, [0559] But, behold, they will not believe [0539] me, nor hearken [8085] unto my voice: [6963] for they will say, [0559] The LORD [3068] hath not appeared [7200] unto thee.

 Et YEHOVAH lui dit: Qu'as-tu à la main? Il répondit: Une verge.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto him, What [is] that in thine hand? [3027] And he said, [0559] A rod. [4294]

 Et il dit: Jette-la par terre; et il la jeta par terre, et elle devint un serpent; et Moïse s'enfuit devant lui.

 And he said, [0559] Cast [7993] it on the ground. [0776] And he cast [7993] it on the ground, [0776] and it became a serpent; [5175] and Moses [4872] fled [5127] from before [6440] it.

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Étends ta main et saisis-le par la queue. Il étendit la main, et le saisit, et il redevint une verge dans sa main.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Put forth [7971] thine hand, [3027] and take [0270] it by the tail. [2180] And he put forth [7971] his hand, [3027] and caught [2388] it, and it became a rod [4294] in his hand: [3709]

 C'est afin, dit YEHOVAH, qu'ils croient que YEHOVAH, le Dieu de leurs pères, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob t'est apparu.

 That they may believe [0539] that the LORD [3068] God [0430] of their fathers, [0001] the God [0430] of Abraham, [0085] the God [0430] of Isaac, [3327] and the God [0430] of Jacob, [3290] hath appeared [7200] unto thee.

 YEHOVAH lui dit encore: Mets ta main dans ton sein. Et il mit sa main dans son sein; puis il la retira, et, voici, sa main était blanche de lèpre comme la neige.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] furthermore [5750] unto him, Put [0935] now thine hand [3027] into thy bosom. [2436] And he put [0935] his hand [3027] into his bosom: [2436] and when he took it out, [3318] behold, his hand [3027] [was] leprous [6879] as snow. [7950]

 Puis Dieu dit: Remets ta main dans ton sein. Et il remit sa main dans son sein; puis il la retira de son sein, et voici, elle était redevenue comme son autre chair.

 And he said, [0559] Put thine hand [3027] into thy bosom [2436] again. [7725] And he put his hand [3027] into his bosom [2436] again; [7725] and plucked it out [3318] of his bosom, [2436] and, behold, it was turned [7725] again as his [other] flesh. [1320]

 Et il arrivera, s'ils ne te croient point, et n'obéissent point à la voix du premier signe, qu'ils croiront à la voix du signe suivant.

 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe [0539] thee, neither hearken [8085] to the voice [6963] of the first [7223] sign, [0226] that they will believe [0539] the voice [6963] of the latter [0314] sign. [0226]

 Et s'ils ne croient pas même à ces deux signes et n'obéissent pas à ta voix, tu prendras de l'eau du fleuve et la répandras sur la terre, et l'eau que tu auras prise du fleuve, deviendra du sang sur la terre.

 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe [0539] also these two [8147] signs, [0226] neither hearken [8085] unto thy voice, [6963] that thou shalt take [3947] of the water [4325] of the river, [2975] and pour [8210] [it] upon the dry [3004] [land]: and the water [4325] which thou takest [3947] out of the river [2975] shall become blood [1818] upon the dry [3006] [land].

 Et Moïse dit à YEHOVAH: Ah! Seigneur, je ne suis point un homme qui ait la parole aisée, ni d'hier, ni d'avant-hier, ni depuis que tu parles à ton serviteur; car j'ai la bouche et la langue troublées.

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto the LORD, [3068] O [0994] my Lord, [0136] I [0376] [am] not eloquent, [1697] neither heretofore, [8032] [8543] nor since [0227] thou hast spoken [1696] unto thy servant: [5650] but I [am] slow [3515] of speech, [6310] and of a slow [3515] tongue. [3956]

 Et YEHOVAH lui dit: Qui a fait la bouche de l'homme? Ou qui rend muet, ou sourd, ou voyant, ou aveugle? N'est-ce pas moi, YEHOVAH?

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto him, Who hath made [7760] man's [0120] mouth? [6310] or who maketh [7760] the dumb, [0483] or deaf, [2795] or the seeing, [6493] or the blind? [5787] have not I the LORD? [3068]

 Maintenant donc, va et je serai avec ta bouche, et je t'enseignerai ce que tu devras dire.

 Now therefore go, [3212] and I will be with thy mouth, [6310] and teach [3384] thee what thou shalt say. [1696]

 Et Moïse répondit: Ah! Seigneur, envoie qui tu voudras envoyer.

 And he said, [0559] O [0994] my Lord, [0136] send, [7971] I pray thee, by the hand [3027] [of him whom] thou wilt send. [7971]

 Et la colère de YEHOVAH s'embrasa contre Moïse, et il dit: Aaron, le Lévite, n'est-il pas ton frère? Je sais qu'il parlera très bien. Et même, le voici qui sort à ta rencontre, et quand il te verra, il se réjouira dans son cœur.

 And the anger [0639] of the LORD [3068] was kindled [2734] against Moses, [4872] and he said, [0559] [Is] not Aaron [0175] the Levite [3881] thy brother? [0251] I know [3045] that he can speak [1696] well. [1696] And also, behold, he cometh forth [3318] to meet [7125] thee: and when he seeth [7200] thee, he will be glad [8055] in his heart. [3820]

 Tu lui parleras donc, et tu mettras les paroles dans sa bouche; et je serai avec ta bouche et avec la sienne, et je vous enseignerai ce que vous devrez faire.

 And thou shalt speak [1696] unto him, and put [7760] words [1697] in his mouth: [6310] and I will be with thy mouth, [6310] and with his mouth, [6310] and will teach [3384] you what ye shall do. [6213]

 C'est lui qui parlera pour toi au peuple; il sera ta bouche, et tu lui seras à la place de Dieu.

 And he shall be thy spokesman [1696] unto the people: [5971] and he shall be, [even] he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, [6310] and thou shalt be to him instead of God. [0430]

 Et tu prendras dans ta main cette verge, par laquelle tu feras les signes.

 And thou shalt take [3947] this rod [4294] in thine hand, [3027] wherewith thou shalt do [6213] signs. [0226]

 Alors Moïse s'en alla, et retourna vers Jéthro son beau-père, et lui dit: Que je m'en aille, je te prie, et que je retourne vers mes frères qui sont en Égypte, pour voir s'ils sont encore vivants. Et Jéthro dit à Moïse: Va en paix!

 And Moses [4872] went [3212] and returned [7725] to Jethro [3500] his father in law, [2859] and said [0559] unto him, Let me go, [3212] I pray thee, and return [7725] unto my brethren [0251] which [are] in Egypt, [4714] and see [7200] whether they be yet [5750] alive. [2416] And Jethro [3503] said [0559] to Moses, [4872] Go [3212] in peace. [7965]

 Or, YEHOVAH dit à Moïse, en Madian: Va, retourne en Égypte; car tous ceux qui en voulaient à ta vie, sont morts.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses [4872] in Midian, [4080] Go, [3212] return [7725] into Egypt: [4714] for all the men [0582] are dead [4191] which sought [1245] thy life. [5315]

 Alors Moïse prit sa femme et ses fils, les fit monter sur un âne, et retourna au pays d'Égypte. Et Moïse prit la verge de Dieu dans sa main.

 And Moses [4872] took [3947] his wife [0802] and his sons, [1121] and set [7392] them upon an ass, [2543] and he returned [7725] to the land [0776] of Egypt: [4714] and Moses [4872] took [3947] the rod [4294] of God [0430] in his hand. [3027]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: En t'en allant pour retourner en Égypte, considère tous les miracles que j'ai mis dans ta main, et tu les feras devant Pharaon; mais j'endurcirai son cœur, et il ne laissera point aller le peuple.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] When thou goest [3212] to return [7725] into Egypt, [4714] see [7200] that thou do [6213] all those wonders [4159] before [6440] Pharaoh, [6547] which I have put [7760] in thine hand: [3027] but I will harden [2388] his heart, [3820] that he shall not let the people [5971] go. [7971]

 Et tu diras à Pharaon: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH: Israël est mon fils, mon premier-né;

 And thou shalt say [0559] unto Pharaoh, [6547] Thus saith [0559] the LORD, [3068] Israel [3478] [is] my son, [1121] [even] my firstborn: [1060]

 Et je t'ai dit: Laisse aller mon fils, afin qu'il me serve; et tu as refusé de le laisser aller. Voici, je vais faire mourir ton fils, ton premier-né.

 And I say [0559] unto thee, Let my son [1121] go, [7971] that he may serve [5647] me: and if thou refuse [3985] to let him go, [7971] behold, I will slay [2026] thy son, [1121] [even] thy firstborn. [1060]

 Or, il arriva qu'en chemin, dans l'hôtellerie, YEHOVAH rencontra Moïse, et chercha à le faire mourir.

 And it came to pass by the way [1870] in the inn, [4411] that the LORD [3068] met [6298] him, and sought [1245] to kill [4191] him.

 Et Séphora prit un couteau de pierre, et coupa le prépuce de son fils, et le jeta à ses pieds, et dit: Certes, tu m'es un époux de sang!

 Then Zipporah [6855] took [3947] a sharp stone, [6864] and cut off [3772] the foreskin [6190] of her son, [1121] and cast [5060] [it] at his feet, [7272] and said, [0559] Surely a bloody [1818] husband [2860] [art] thou to me.

 Et YEHOVAH le laissa. Elle dit alors: Époux de sang! à cause de la circoncision.

 So he let him go: [7503] then she said, [0559] A bloody [1818] husband [2860] [thou art], because of the circumcision. [4139]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Aaron: Va au-devant de Moïse, au désert. Il alla donc et le rencontra à la montagne de Dieu, et il le baisa.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] to Aaron, [0175] Go [3212] into the wilderness [4057] to meet [7125] Moses. [4872] And he went, [3212] and met [6298] him in the mount [2022] of God, [0430] and kissed [5401] him.

 Et Moïse rapporta à Aaron toutes les paroles avec lesquelles YEHOVAH l'avait envoyé, et tous les prodiges qu'il lui avait commandé de faire.

 And Moses [4872] told [5046] Aaron [0175] all the words [1697] of the LORD [3068] who had sent [7971] him, and all the signs [0226] which he had commanded [6680] him.

 Moïse s'en alla donc avec Aaron; et ils assemblèrent tous les anciens des enfants d'Israël.

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] went [3212] and gathered [0622] together all the elders [2205] of the children [1121] of Israel: [3478]

 Et Aaron dit toutes les paroles que YEHOVAH avait dites à Moïse, et il fit les prodiges aux yeux du peuple.

 And Aaron [0175] spake [1696] all the words [1697] which the LORD [3068] had spoken [1696] unto Moses, [4872] and did [6213] the signs [0226] in the sight [5869] of the people. [5971]

 Et le peuple crut; et ils apprirent que YEHOVAH avait visité les enfants d'Israël, et qu'il avait vu leur affliction; et ils s'inclinèrent et adorèrent.

 And the people [5971] believed: [0539] and when they heard [8085] that the LORD [3068] had visited [6485] the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] and that he had looked [7200] upon their affliction, [6040] then they bowed their heads [6915] and worshipped. [7812]

 Après cela, Moïse et Aaron vinrent et dirent à Pharaon: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH, le Dieu d'Israël: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me célèbre une fête au désert.

 And afterward [0310] Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] went in, [0935] and told [0559] Pharaoh, [6547] Thus saith [0559] the LORD [3068] God [0430] of Israel, [3478] Let my people [5971] go, [7971] that they may hold a feast [2287] unto me in the wilderness. [4057]

 Mais Pharaon dit: Qui est YEHOVAH, pour que j'obéisse à sa voix en laissant aller Israël? Je ne connais point YEHOVAH, et je ne laisserai pas non plus aller Israël.

 And Pharaoh [6547] said, [0559] Who [is] the LORD, [3068] that I should obey [8085] his voice [6963] to let Israel [3478] go? [7971] I know [3045] not the LORD, [3068] neither will I let Israel [3478] go. [7971]

 Et ils dirent: Le Dieu des Hébreux est venu au-devant de nous; permets-nous d'aller le chemin de trois jours dans le désert, pour que nous sacrifiions à YEHOVAH notre Dieu, de peur qu'il ne nous frappe par la peste ou par l'épée.

 And they said, [0559] The God [0430] of the Hebrews [5680] hath met [7122] with us: let us go, [3212] we pray thee, three [7969] days' [3117] journey [1870] into the desert, [4057] and sacrifice [2076] unto the LORD [3068] our God; [0430] lest he fall [6293] upon us with pestilence, [1698] or with the sword. [2719]

 Et le roi d'Égypte leur dit: Moïse et Aaron, pourquoi détournez-vous le peuple de son ouvrage? Allez à vos travaux.

 And the king [4428] of Egypt [4714] said [0559] unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses [4872] and Aaron, [0175] let [6544] the people [5971] from their works? [4639] get [3212] you unto your burdens. [5450]

 Et Pharaon dit: Voici, le peuple du pays est maintenant en grand nombre, et vous les faites chômer de leur travail

 And Pharaoh [6547] said, [0559] Behold, the people [5971] of the land [0776] now [are] many, [7227] and ye make them rest [7673] from their burdens. [5450]

 Pharaon donna ordre ce jour-là aux exacteurs établis sur le peuple, et à ses commissaires, en disant:

 And Pharaoh [6547] commanded [6680] the same day [3117] the taskmasters [5065] of the people, [5971] and their officers, [7860] saying, [0559]

 Vous ne donnerez plus de paille au peuple pour faire les briques, comme auparavant; qu'ils aillent eux-mêmes, et qu'ils s'amassent de la paille.

 Ye shall no more [3254] give [5414] the people [5971] straw [8401] to make [3835] brick, [3843] as heretofore: [8032] [8543] let them go [3212] and gather [7197] straw [8401] for themselves.

 Mais vous leur imposerez la quantité de briques qu'ils faisaient auparavant; vous n'en retrancherez rien, car ils sont paresseux; c'est pour cela qu'ils crient, en disant: Allons sacrifier à notre Dieu!

 And the tale [4971] of the bricks, [3843] which they did make [6213] heretofore, [8032] [8543] ye shall lay [7760] upon them; ye shall not diminish [1639] [ought] thereof: for they [be] idle; [7503] therefore they cry, [6817] saying, [0559] Let us go [3212] [and] sacrifice [2076] to our God. [0430]

 Qu'on accable ces gens de travail, et qu'ils s'y occupent, et ne regardent point à des paroles de mensonge.

 Let there more work [5656] be laid [3513] upon the men, [0582] that they may labour [6213] therein; and let them not regard [8159] vain [8267] words. [1697]

 Alors les exacteurs du peuple et ses commissaires sortirent, et dirent au peuple: Ainsi a dit Pharaon: Je ne vous donne plus de paille.

 And the taskmasters [5065] of the people [5971] went out, [3318] and their officers, [7860] and they spake [0559] to the people, [5971] saying, [0559] Thus saith [0559] Pharaoh, [6547] I will not give [5414] you straw. [8401]

 Allez vous-mêmes, prenez de la paille où vous en trouverez, car on ne retranchera rien de votre travail.

 Go [3212] ye, get [3947] you straw [8401] where [0834] ye can find [4672] it: yet [3588] not ought [1697] of your work [5656] shall be diminished. [1639]

 Alors le peuple se répandit par tout le pays d'Égypte, afin d'amasser du chaume pour tenir lieu de paille.

 So the people [5971] were scattered abroad [6327] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] to gather [7197] stubble [7179] instead of straw. [8401]

 Et les exacteurs les pressaient, en disant: Achevez votre ouvrage, chaque jour la quantité fixée, comme quand il y avait de la paille.

 And the taskmasters [5065] hasted [0213] [them], saying, [0559] Fulfil [3615] your works, [4639] [your] daily [3117] [3117] tasks, [1697] as when there was [1961] straw. [8401]

 Et les commissaires des enfants d'Israël, que les exacteurs de Pharaon avaient établis sur eux, furent battus, et on leur disait: Pourquoi n'avez-vous point achevé votre tâche, en faisant des briques, hier et aujourd'hui, comme auparavant?

 And the officers [7860] of the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] which Pharaoh's [6547] taskmasters [5065] had set [7760] over them, were beaten, [5221] [and] demanded, [0559] Wherefore have ye not fulfilled [3615] your task [2706] in making brick [3835] both yesterday [8543] and to day, [3117] as heretofore? [8032] [8543]

 Alors les commissaires des enfants d'Israël vinrent et crièrent à Pharaon, en disant: Pourquoi agis-tu ainsi à l'égard de tes serviteurs?

 Then the officers [7860] of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] came [0935] and cried [6817] unto Pharaoh, [6547] saying, [0559] Wherefore dealest [6213] thou thus with thy servants? [5650]

 On ne donne point de paille à tes serviteurs, et l'on nous dit: Faites des briques! Et voici, tes serviteurs sont battus et ton peuple est en faute.

 There is no straw [8401] given [5414] unto thy servants, [5650] and they say [0559] to us, Make [6213] brick: [3843] and, behold, thy servants [5650] [are] beaten; [5221] but the fault [2398] [is] in thine own people. [5971]

 Et il répondit: Vous êtes des paresseux, des paresseux! C'est pour cela que vous dites: Allons sacrifier à YEHOVAH.

 But he said, [0559] Ye [are] idle, [7503] [ye are] idle: [7503] therefore ye say, [0559] Let us go [3212] [and] do sacrifice [2076] to the LORD. [3068]

 Or, maintenant, allez, travaillez; et l'on ne vous donnera point de paille; et vous fournirez la même quantité de briques.

 Go [3212] therefore now, [and] work; [5647] for there shall no straw [8401] be given [5414] you, yet shall ye deliver [5414] the tale [8506] of bricks. [3843]

 Les commissaires des enfants d'Israël se virent donc dans la peine, parce qu'on leur dit: Vous ne retrancherez rien de vos briques; chaque jour, la quantité fixée.

 And the officers [7860] of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] did see [7200] [that] they [were] in evil [7451] [case], after it was said, [0559] Ye shall not minish [1639] [ought] from your bricks [3843] of your daily [3117] [3117] task. [1697]

 Et ils rencontrèrent Moïse et Aaron qui les attendaient, à leur sortie d'auprès de Pharaon;

 And they met [6293] Moses [4872] and Aaron, [0175] who stood [5324] in the way, [7125] as they came forth [3318] from Pharaoh: [6547]

 Et ils leur dirent: Que YEHOVAH vous regarde, et qu'il juge! vous nous avez mis en mauvaise odeur devant Pharaon et devant ses serviteurs, en leur mettant une épée à la main pour nous tuer.

 And they said [0559] unto them, The LORD [3068] look [7200] upon you, and judge; [8199] because ye have made our savour [7381] to be abhorred [0887] in the eyes [5869] of Pharaoh, [6547] and in the eyes [5869] of his servants, [5650] to put [5414] a sword [2719] in their hand [3027] to slay [2026] us.

 Alors Moïse se tourna vers YEHOVAH, et dit: Seigneur, pourquoi as-tu fait du mal à ce peuple? Pourquoi donc m'as-tu envoyé,

 And Moses [4872] returned [7725] unto the LORD, [3068] and said, [0559] Lord, [0136] wherefore hast thou [so] evil entreated [7489] this people? [5971] why [is] it [that] thou hast sent [7971] me?

 Puisque depuis que je suis venu vers Pharaon, pour parler en ton nom, il a maltraité ce peuple, et tu n'as point délivré ton peuple?

 For since I came [0935] to Pharaoh [6547] to speak [1696] in thy name, [8034] he hath done evil [7489] to this people; [5971] neither hast thou delivered [5337] thy people [5971] at all. [5337]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Maintenant tu verras ce que je ferai à Pharaon; car il les laissera aller, contraint par une main forte; et, contraint par une main forte, il les chassera de son pays.

 Then the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Now shalt thou see [7200] what I will do [6213] to Pharaoh: [6547] for with a strong [2389] hand [3027] shall he let them go, [7971] and with a strong [2389] hand [3027] shall he drive them out [1644] of his land. [0776]

 Et Dieu parla à Moïse, et lui dit: JE SUIS YEHOVAH.

 And God [0430] spake [1696] unto Moses, [4872] and said [0559] unto him, I [am] the LORD: [3068]

 Je suis apparu à Abraham, à Isaac, et à Jacob, comme le Dieu Tout-Puissant; mais sous mon nom, YEHOVAH, je n'ai point été connu d'eux.

 And I appeared [7200] unto Abraham, [0085] unto Isaac, [3327] and unto Jacob, [3290] by [the name of] God [0410] Almighty, [7706] but by my name [8034] JEHOVAH [3068] was I not known [3045] to them.

 Et j'ai aussi établi mon alliance avec eux, pour leur donner le pays de Canaan, le pays dans lequel ils ont séjourné comme étrangers.

 And I have also established [6965] my covenant [1285] with them, to give [5414] them the land [0776] of Canaan, [3667] the land [0776] of their pilgrimage, [4033] wherein they were strangers. [1481]

 J'ai aussi entendu les gémissements des enfants d'Israël, que les Égyptiens tiennent esclaves; et je me suis souvenu de mon alliance.

 And I have also heard [8085] the groaning [5009] of the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] whom [0834] the Egyptians [4714] keep in bondage; [5647] and I have remembered [2142] my covenant. [1285]

 C'est pourquoi, dis aux enfants d'Israël: JE SUIS YEHOVAH, je vous retirerai de dessous les fardeaux d'Égypte; je vous délivrerai de leur servitude, et je vous rachèterai à bras étendu, et par de grands jugements.

 Wherefore [3651] say [0559] unto the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] I [am] the LORD, [3068] and I will bring you out [3318] from under the burdens [5450] of the Egyptians, [4714] and I will rid [5337] you out of their bondage, [5656] and I will redeem [1350] you with a stretched out [5186] arm, [2220] and with great [1419] judgments: [8201]

 Je vous prendrai pour mon peuple, et je vous serai Dieu, et vous connaîtrez que JE SUIS YEHOVAH votre Dieu, qui vous retire de dessous les fardeaux de l'Égypte.

 And I will take [3947] you to me for a people, [5971] and I will be to you a God: [0430] and ye shall know [3045] that I [am] the LORD [3068] your God, [0430] which bringeth you out [3318] from under the burdens [5450] of the Egyptians. [4714]

 Et je vous ferai entrer au pays au sujet duquel j'ai levé ma main que je le donnerais à Abraham, à Isaac, et à Jacob; et je vous le donnerai en héritage: JE SUIS YEHOVAH.

 And I will bring [0935] you in unto the land, [0776] concerning the which I did [5375] swear [3027] to give [5414] it to Abraham, [0085] to Isaac, [3327] and to Jacob; [3290] and I will give [5414] it you for an heritage: [4181] I [am] the LORD. [3068]

 Moïse parla donc ainsi aux enfants d'Israël; mais ils n'écoutèrent point Moïse, par impatience et à cause de leur dure servitude.

 And Moses [4872] spake [1696] so unto the children [1121] of Israel: [3478] but they hearkened [8085] not unto Moses [4872] for anguish [7115] of spirit, [7307] and for cruel [7186] bondage. [5656]

 Et YEHOVAH parla à Moïse, en disant:

 And the LORD [3068] spake [1696] unto Moses, [4872] saying, [0559]

 Va, parle à Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, et qu'il laisse sortir les enfants d'Israël de son pays.

 Go in, [0935] speak [1696] unto Pharaoh [6547] king [4428] of Egypt, [4714] that he let the children [1121] of Israel [3478] go [7971] out of his land. [0776]

 Alors Moïse parla devant YEHOVAH, et dit: Voici, les enfants d'Israël ne m'ont pas écouté; et comment Pharaon m'écoutera-t-il, moi qui suis incirconcis de lèvres?

 And Moses [4872] spake [1696] before [6440] the LORD, [3068] saying, [0559] Behold, the children [1121] of Israel [3478] have not hearkened [8085] unto me; how then shall Pharaoh [6547] hear [8085] me, who [0589] [am] of uncircumcised [6189] lips? [8193]

 YEHOVAH parla donc à Moïse et à Aaron, et leur ordonna d'aller trouver les enfants d'Israël, et Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, pour retirer les enfants d'Israël du pays d'Égypte.

 And the LORD [3068] spake [1696] unto Moses [4872] and unto Aaron, [0175] and gave them a charge [6680] unto the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] and unto Pharaoh [6547] king [4428] of Egypt, [4714] to bring the children [1121] of Israel [3478] out [3318] of the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 C'est cet Aaron et ce Moïse, à qui YEHOVAH dit: Retirez les enfants d'Israël du pays d'Égypte, selon leurs armées.

 These [1931] [are] that Aaron [0175] and Moses, [4872] to whom [0834] the LORD [3068] said, [0559] Bring out [3318] the children [1121] of Israel [3478] from the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] according to their armies. [6635]

 Ce sont eux qui parlèrent à Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, pour retirer d'Égypte les enfants d'Israël. C'est ce Moïse et cet Aaron.

 These [are] they [1992] which spake [1696] to Pharaoh [6547] king [4428] of Egypt, [4714] to bring out [3318] the children [1121] of Israel [3478] from Egypt: [4714] these [are] that Moses [4872] and Aaron. [0175]

 Il arriva donc qu'au jour où YEHOVAH parla à Moïse, dans le pays d'Égypte,

 And it came to pass on the day [3117] [when] the LORD [3068] spake [1696] unto Moses [4872] in the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714]

 YEHOVAH parla à Moïse, en disant: JESUIS YEHOVAH; dis à Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, tout ce que je te dirai.

 That the LORD [3068] spake [1696] unto Moses, [4872] saying, [0559] I [am] the LORD: [3068] speak [1696] thou unto Pharaoh [6547] king [4428] of Egypt [4714] all that I say [1696] unto thee.

 Alors Moïse dit devant YEHOVAH: Voici, je suis incirconcis de lèvres; comment Pharaon m'écouterait-il?

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] before [6440] the LORD, [3068] Behold, I [am] of uncircumcised [6189] lips, [8193] and how shall Pharaoh [6547] hearken [8085] unto me?

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Vois, je t'ai établi Dieu pour Pharaon, et Aaron, ton frère, sera ton prophète.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] See, [7200] I have made [5414] thee a god [0430] to Pharaoh: [6547] and Aaron [0175] thy brother [0251] shall be thy prophet. [5030]

 Tu diras tout ce que je te commanderai, et Aaron ton frère parlera à Pharaon, pour qu'il laisse aller les enfants d'Israël hors de son pays.

 Thou shalt speak [1696] all that I command [6680] thee: and Aaron [0175] thy brother [0251] shall speak [1696] unto Pharaoh, [6547] that he send [7971] the children [1121] of Israel [3478] out of his land. [0776]

 Mais j'endurcirai le cœur de Pharaon, et je multiplierai mes signes et mes miracles dans le pays d'Égypte.

 And I will harden [7185] Pharaoh's [6547] heart, [3820] and multiply [7235] my signs [0226] and my wonders [4159] in the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et Pharaon ne vous écoutera point; et je mettrai ma main sur l'Égypte, et je retirerai du pays d'Égypte mes armées, mon peuple, les enfants d'Israël, par de grands jugements.

 But Pharaoh [6547] shall not hearken [8085] unto you, that I may lay [5414] my hand [3027] upon Egypt, [4714] and bring forth [3318] mine armies, [6635] [and] my people [5971] the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] out of the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] by great [1419] judgments. [8201]

 Les Égyptiens sauront que JE SUIS YEHOVAH, quand j'étendrai ma main sur l'Égypte, et que je retirerai du milieu d'eux les enfants d'Israël.

 And the Egyptians [4714] shall know [3045] that I [am] the LORD, [3068] when I stretch forth [5186] mine hand [3027] upon Egypt, [4714] and bring out [3318] the children [1121] of Israel [3478] from among [8432] them.

 Moïse et Aaron firent donc comme YEHOVAH leur avait commandé; ils firent ainsi.

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] did [6213] as the LORD [3068] commanded [6680] them, so did [6213] they.

 Or, Moïse était âgé de quatre-vingts ans, et Aaron de quatre-vingt-trois ans, quand ils parlèrent à Pharaon.

 And Moses [4872] [was] fourscore [8084] years [8141] old, [1121] and Aaron [0175] fourscore [8084] and three [7969] years [8141] old, [1121] when they spake [1696] unto Pharaoh. [6547]

 Et YEHOVAH parla à Moïse et à Aaron, en disant:

 And the LORD [3068] spake [0559] unto Moses [4872] and unto Aaron, [0175] saying, [0559]

 Quand Pharaon vous parlera, et dira: Faites un miracle; alors tu diras à Aaron: Prends ta verge et jette-la devant Pharaon; et elle deviendra un serpent.

 When Pharaoh [6547] shall speak [1696] unto you, saying, [0559] Shew [5414] a miracle [4159] for you: then thou shalt say [0559] unto Aaron, [0175] Take [3947] thy rod, [4294] and cast [7993] [it] before [6440] Pharaoh, [6547] [and] it shall become a serpent. [8577]

 Moïse et Aaron vinrent donc vers Pharaon, et firent ainsi, comme YEHOVAH l'avait commandé. Et Aaron jeta sa verge devant Pharaon et devant ses serviteurs, et elle devint un serpent.

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] went in [0935] unto Pharaoh, [6547] and they did [6213] so as the LORD [3068] had commanded: [6680] and Aaron [0175] cast down [7993] his rod [4294] before [6440] Pharaoh, [6547] and before [6440] his servants, [5650] and it became a serpent. [8577]

 Mais Pharaon appela aussi les sages et les enchanteurs; et les magiciens d'Égypte firent, eux aussi, la même chose par leurs enchantements.

 Then Pharaoh [6547] also called [7121] the wise men [2450] and the sorcerers: [3784] now the magicians [2748] of Egypt, [4714] they also did [6213] in like manner [3651] with their enchantments. [3858]

 Ils jetèrent donc chacun leur verge, et elles devinrent des serpents; mais la verge d'Aaron engloutit leurs verges.

 For they cast down [7993] every man [0376] his rod, [4294] and they became serpents: [8577] but Aaron's [0175] rod [4294] swallowed up [1104] their rods. [4294]

 Et le cœur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il ne les écouta point, comme YEHOVAH l'avait dit.

 And he hardened [2388] Pharaoh's [6547] heart, [3820] that he hearkened [8085] not unto them; as the LORD [3068] had said. [1696]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Le cœur de Pharaon est appesanti; il a refusé de laisser aller le peuple.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Pharaoh's [6547] heart [3820] [is] hardened, [3515] he refuseth [3985] to let the people [5971] go. [7971]

 Va vers Pharaon dès le matin; voici, il sortira vers l'eau; tu te présenteras donc devant lui sur la rive du fleuve, et tu prendras à ta main la verge qui a été changée en serpent.

 Get [3212] thee unto Pharaoh [6547] in the morning; [1242] lo, he goeth out [3318] unto the water; [4325] and thou shalt stand [5324] by the river's [2975] brink [8193] against he come; [7125] and the rod [4294] which was turned [2015] to a serpent [5175] shalt thou take [3947] in thine hand. [3027]

 Et tu lui diras: YEHOVAH, le Dieu des Hébreux, m'a envoyé vers toi, en disant: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve dans le désert; et voici, tu n'as point écouté jusqu'ici.

 And thou shalt say [0559] unto him, The LORD [3068] God [0430] of the Hebrews [5680] hath sent [7971] me unto thee, saying, [0559] Let my people [5971] go, [7971] that they may serve [5647] me in the wilderness: [4057] and, behold, hitherto [3541] thou wouldest not hear. [8085]

 Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH: À ceci tu sauras que JE SUIS YEHOVAH: Voici, je vais frapper de la verge qui est dans ma main, les eaux qui sont dans le fleuve, et elles seront changées en sang.

 Thus saith [0559] the LORD, [3068] In this thou shalt know [3045] that I [am] the LORD: [3068] behold, I will smite [5221] with the rod [4294] that [is] in mine hand [3027] upon the waters [4325] which [are] in the river, [2975] and they shall be turned [2015] to blood. [1818]

 Et le poisson qui est dans le fleuve, mourra, et le fleuve se corrompra, et les Égyptiens éprouveront du dégoût à boire des eaux du fleuve.

 And the fish [1710] that [is] in the river [2975] shall die, [4191] and the river [2975] shall stink; [0887] and the Egyptians [4714] shall lothe [3811] to drink [8354] of the water [4325] of the river. [2975]

 Puis YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Prends ta verge, et étends ta main sur les eaux des Égyptiens, sur leurs rivières, sur leurs fleuves, et sur leurs étangs, et sur tous leurs amas d'eaux, et qu'elles deviennent du sang; et il y aura du sang par tout le pays d'Égypte, et dans les vases de bois et dans les vases de pierre.

 And the LORD [3068] spake [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Say [0559] unto Aaron, [0175] Take [3947] thy rod, [4294] and stretch out [5186] thine hand [3027] upon the waters [4325] of Egypt, [4714] upon their streams, [5104] upon their rivers, [2975] and upon their ponds, [0098] and upon all their pools [4723] of water, [4325] that they may become blood; [1818] and [that] there may be blood [1818] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] both in [vessels of] wood, [6086] and

 Moïse et Aaron firent donc ainsi, comme YEHOVAH l'avait commandé. Et Aaron leva la verge, et frappa les eaux qui étaient dans le fleuve, aux yeux de Pharaon et aux yeux de ses serviteurs; et toutes les eaux qui étaient dans le fleuve furent changées en sang.

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] did [6213] so, as the LORD [3068] commanded; [6680] and he lifted up [7311] the rod, [4294] and smote [5221] the waters [4325] that [were] in the river, [2975] in the sight [5869] of Pharaoh, [6547] and in the sight [5869] of his servants; [5650] and all the waters [4325] that [were] in the river [2975] were turned [2015] to blood. [1818]

 Et le poisson qui était dans le fleuve mourut, et le fleuve se corrompit, et les Égyptiens ne purent boire des eaux du fleuve; et le sang fut par tout le pays d'Égypte.

 And the fish [1710] that [was] in the river [2975] died; [4191] and the river [2975] stank, [0887] and the Egyptians [4714] could [3201] not drink [8354] of the water [4325] of the river; [2975] and there was blood [1818] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Mais les magiciens d'Égypte firent la même chose par leurs enchantements. Et le cœur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il n'écouta point Moïse et Aaron, comme YEHOVAH l'avait dit.

 And the magicians [2748] of Egypt [4714] did [6213] so with their enchantments: [3909] and Pharaoh's [6547] heart [3820] was hardened, [2388] neither did he hearken [8085] unto them; as the LORD [3068] had said. [1696]

 Et Pharaon s'en retourna et vint en sa maison, et ne rendit pas même son cœur attentif à tout cela.

 And Pharaoh [6547] turned [6437] and went [0935] into his house, [1004] neither did he set [7896] his heart [3820] to this [2063] also.

 Or, tous les Égyptiens creusèrent autour du fleuve pour trouver de l'eau à boire, car ils ne pouvaient pas boire de l'eau du fleuve.

 And all the Egyptians [4714] digged [2658] round about [5439] the river [2975] for water [4325] to drink; [8354] for they could [3201] not drink [8354] of the water [4325] of the river. [2975]

 Et il se passa sept jours, après que YEHOVAH eut frappé le fleuve.

 And seven [7651] days [3117] were fulfilled, [4390] after [0310] that the LORD [3068] had smitten [5221] the river. [2975]

 Puis YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Va vers Pharaon, et dis-lui: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve.

 And the LORD [3068] spake [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Go [0935] unto Pharaoh, [6547] and say [0559] unto him, Thus saith [0559] the LORD, [3068] Let my people [5971] go, [7971] that they may serve [5647] me.

 Si tu refuses de le laisser aller, voici, je vais frapper du fléau des grenouilles tout ton territoire.

 And if thou refuse [3986] to let [them] go, [7971] behold, I will smite [5062] all thy borders [1366] with frogs: [6854]

 Et le fleuve foisonnera de grenouilles, qui monteront et entreront dans ta maison, et dans la chambre où tu couches, et sur ton lit, et dans la maison de tes serviteurs, et parmi ton peuple, et dans tes fours, et dans tes huches.

 And the river [2975] shall bring forth frogs [6854] abundantly, [8317] which shall go up [5927] and come [0935] into thine house, [1004] and into thy bedchamber, [2315] [4904] and upon thy bed, [4296] and into the house [1004] of thy servants, [5650] and upon thy people, [5971] and into thine ovens, [8574] and into thy kneadingtroughs: [4863]

 Et les grenouilles monteront sur toi, sur ton peuple, et sur tous tes serviteurs.

 And the frogs [6854] shall come up [5927] both on thee, and upon thy people, [5971] and upon all thy servants. [5650]

 YEHOVAH dit donc à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Étends ta main avec ta verge sur les rivières, sur les fleuves, et sur les marais, et fais monter les grenouilles sur le pays d'Égypte.

 And the LORD [3068] spake [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Say [0559] unto Aaron, [0175] Stretch forth [5186] thine hand [3027] with thy rod [4294] over the streams, [5104] over the rivers, [2975] and over the ponds, [0098] and cause frogs [6854] to come up [5927] upon the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et Aaron étendit sa main sur les eaux de l'Égypte; et les grenouilles montèrent, et couvrirent le pays d'Égypte.

 And Aaron [0175] stretched out [5186] his hand [3027] over the waters [4325] of Egypt; [4714] and the frogs [6854] came up, [5927] and covered [3680] the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et les magiciens firent la même chose par leurs enchantements, pour faire monter des grenouilles sur le pays d'Égypte.

 And the magicians [2748] did [6213] so with their enchantments, [3909] and brought up [5927] frogs [6854] upon the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Alors Pharaon appela Moïse et Aaron, et dit: Intercédez auprès de YEHOVAH, pour qu'il éloigne les grenouilles de moi et de mon peuple; et je laisserai aller le peuple, afin qu'il sacrifie à YEHOVAH.

 Then Pharaoh [6547] called [7121] for Moses [4872] and Aaron, [0175] and said, [0559] Intreat [6279] the LORD, [3068] that he may take away [5493] the frogs [6854] from me, and from my people; [5971] and I will let the people [5971] go, [7971] that they may do sacrifice [2076] unto the LORD. [3068]

 Et Moïse dit à Pharaon: Glorifie-toi sur moi: Pour quand je dois intercéder en ta faveur, en faveur de tes serviteurs, et de ton peuple, afin d'exterminer les grenouilles loin de toi et de tes maisons, et qu'il n'en reste que dans le fleuve.

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto Pharaoh, [6547] Glory [6286] over me: when [4970] shall I intreat [6279] for thee, and for thy servants, [5650] and for thy people, [5971] to destroy [3772] the frogs [6854] from thee and thy houses, [1004] [that] they may remain [7604] in the river [2975] only?

 Et il répondit: Pour demain. Et Moïse dit: Il sera fait selon ta parole, afin que tu saches que nul n'est semblable à YEHOVAH notre Dieu.

 And he said, [0559] To morrow. [4279] And he said, [0559] [Be it] according to thy word: [1697] that thou mayest know [3045] that [there is] none like unto the LORD [3068] our God. [0430]

 Les grenouilles donc s'éloigneront de toi, et de tes maisons, et de tes serviteurs, et de ton peuple; il n'en restera que dans le fleuve.

 And the frogs [6854] shall depart [5493] from thee, and from thy houses, [1004] and from thy servants, [5650] and from thy people; [5971] they shall remain [7604] in the river [2975] only.

 Alors Moïse et Aaron sortirent d'auprès de Pharaon. Et Moïse cria à YEHOVAH, au sujet des grenouilles qu'il avait fait venir sur Pharaon.

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] went out [3318] from Pharaoh: [6547] and Moses [4872] cried [6817] unto the LORD [3068] because of [1697] the frogs [6854] which he had brought [7760] against Pharaoh. [6547]

 Et YEHOVAH fit selon la parole de Moïse, et les grenouilles périrent dans les maisons, dans les villages et dans les champs.

 And the LORD [3068] did [6213] according to the word [1697] of Moses; [4872] and the frogs [6854] died [4191] out of the houses, [1004] out of the villages, [2691] and out of the fields. [7704]

 On les amassa par monceaux, et la terre en fut infectée.

 And they gathered them together [6651] upon heaps: [2563] and the land [0776] stank. [0887]

 Mais Pharaon, voyant qu'il y avait du relâche, appesantit son cœur, et ne les écouta point, comme YEHOVAH l'avait dit.

 But when Pharaoh [6547] saw [7200] that there was respite, [7309] he hardened [3513] his heart, [3820] and hearkened [8085] not unto them; as the LORD [3068] had said. [1696]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Étends ta verge et frappe la poussière de la terre, et elle deviendra des poux par tout le pays d'Égypte.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Say [0559] unto Aaron, [0175] Stretch out [5186] thy rod, [4294] and smite [5221] the dust [6083] of the land, [0776] that it may become lice [3654] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et ils firent ainsi: Aaron étendit sa main avec sa verge, et frappa la poussière de la terre, et elle devint des poux sur les hommes et sur les bêtes; toute la poussière du pays devint des poux dans tout le pays d'Égypte.

 And they did [6213] so; for Aaron [0175] stretched out [5186] his hand [3027] with his rod, [4294] and smote [5221] the dust [6083] of the earth, [0776] and it became lice [3654] in man, [0120] and in beast; [0929] all the dust [6083] of the land [0776] became lice [3654] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et les magiciens firent la même chose par leurs enchantements pour produire les poux, mais ils ne purent pas. Les poux furent donc sur les hommes et sur les bêtes.

 And the magicians [2748] did [6213] so with their enchantments [3909] to bring forth [3318] lice, [3654] but they could [3201] not: so there were lice [3654] upon man, [0120] and upon beast. [0929]

 Alors les magiciens dirent à Pharaon: C'est le doigt de Dieu. Mais le cœur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il ne les écouta point, comme YEHOVAH l'avait dit.

 Then the magicians [2748] said [0559] unto Pharaoh, [6547] This [is] the finger [0676] of God: [0430] and Pharaoh's [6547] heart [3820] was hardened, [2388] and he hearkened [8085] not unto them; as the LORD [3068] had said. [1696]

 Puis, YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Lève-toi de bon matin, et présente-toi devant Pharaon. Voici, il sortira vers l'eau; et tu lui diras: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Rise up early [7925] in the morning, [1242] and stand [3320] before [6440] Pharaoh; [6547] lo, he cometh forth [3318] to the water; [4325] and say [0559] unto him, Thus saith [0559] the LORD, [3068] Let my people [5971] go, [7971] that they may serve [5647] me.

 Car si tu ne laisses pas aller mon peuple, voici, je vais envoyer les insectes sur toi, sur tes serviteurs, sur ton peuple et sur tes maisons; et les maisons des Égyptiens seront remplies d'insectes, et même le sol sur lequel ils sont.

 Else, if thou wilt not let my people [5971] go, [7971] behold, I will send [7971] swarms [6157] [of flies] upon thee, and upon thy servants, [5650] and upon thy people, [5971] and into thy houses: [1004] and the houses [1004] of the Egyptians [4714] shall be full [4390] of swarms [6157] [of flies], and also the ground [0127] whereon they [are].

 Mais je distinguerai en ce jour-là le pays de Gossen, où se tient mon peuple, pour qu'il n'y ait point là d'insectes, afin que tu saches que moi, YEHOVAH, je suis au milieu du pays.

 And I will sever [6395] in that day [3117] the land [0776] of Goshen, [1657] in which my people [5971] dwell, [5975] that no [1115] swarms [6157] [of flies] shall be [1961] there; to the end [4616] thou mayest know [3045] that I [am] the LORD [3068] in the midst [7130] of the earth. [0776]

 Et je mettrai une séparation entre mon peuple et ton peuple. Demain ce prodige se fera.

 And I will put [7760] a division [6304] between my people [5971] and thy people: [5971] to morrow [4279] shall this sign [0226] be.

 Et YEHOVAH fit ainsi; et il vint des insectes en grand nombre dans la maison de Pharaon, et dans la maison de ses serviteurs; et, dans tout le pays d'Égypte, la terre fut dévastée par les insectes.

 And the LORD [3068] did [6213] so; and there came [0935] a grievous [3515] swarm [6157] [of flies] into the house [1004] of Pharaoh, [6547] and [into] his servants' [5650] houses, [1004] and into all the land [0776] of Egypt: [4714] the land [0776] was corrupted [7843] by reason [6440] of the swarm [6157] [of flies].

 Alors Pharaon appela Moïse et Aaron, et dit: Allez, sacrifiez à votre Dieu dans le pays.

 And Pharaoh [6547] called [7121] for [0413] Moses [4872] and for Aaron, [0175] and said, [0559] Go [3212] ye, sacrifice [2076] to your God [0430] in the land. [0776]

 Mais Moïse dit: Il n'est pas convenable de faire ainsi; car ce que nous sacrifierions à YEHOVAH notre Dieu, serait en abomination aux Égyptiens. Voici, si nous offrions, sous leurs yeux, des sacrifices qui sont en abomination aux Égyptiens, ne nous lapideraient-ils pas?

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] It is not meet [3559] so to do; [6213] for we shall sacrifice [2076] the abomination [8441] of the Egyptians [4714] to the LORD [3068] our God: [0430] lo, [2005] shall we sacrifice [2076] the abomination [8441] of the Egyptians [4714] before their eyes, [5869] and will they not stone [5619] us?

 Nous irons le chemin de trois jours dans le désert, et nous sacrifierons à YEHOVAH notre Dieu, comme il nous dira.

 We will go [3212] three [7969] days' [3117] journey [1870] into the wilderness, [4057] and sacrifice [2076] to the LORD [3068] our God, [0430] as he shall command [0559] us.

 Alors Pharaon dit: Je vous laisserai aller pour sacrifier à YEHOVAH votre Dieu dans le désert, seulement vous n'irez pas plus loin. Intercédez pour moi.

 And Pharaoh [6547] said, [0559] I will let you go, [7971] that ye may sacrifice [2076] to the LORD [3068] your God [0430] in the wilderness; [4057] only ye shall not go [3212] very [7368] far away: [7368] intreat [6279] for me. [1157]

 Et Moïse dit: Voici, je sors d'auprès de toi, et j'intercéderai auprès de YEHOVAH; et demain les insectes s'éloigneront de Pharaon, de ses serviteurs, et de son peuple. Seulement que Pharaon ne continue point à tromper, en ne laissant point aller le peuple pour sacrifier à YEHOVAH.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] Behold, I go out [3318] from thee, and I will intreat [6279] the LORD [3068] that the swarms [6157] [of flies] may depart [5493] from Pharaoh, [6547] from his servants, [5650] and from his people, [5971] to morrow: [4279] but [7535] let not Pharaoh [6547] deal deceitfully [2048] any more [3254] in not [1115] letting the people [5971] go [7971] to sacrifice [2076] to the LORD. [3068]

 Alors Moïse sortit d'auprès de Pharaon, et intercéda auprès de YEHOVAH.

 And Moses [4872] went out [3318] from Pharaoh, [6547] and intreated [6279] the LORD. [3068]

 Et YEHOVAH fit selon la parole de Moïse, et les insectes s'éloignèrent de Pharaon, de ses serviteurs, et de son peuple; il n'en resta pas un seul.

 And the LORD [3068] did [6213] according to the word [1697] of Moses; [4872] and he removed [5493] the swarms [6157] [of flies] from Pharaoh, [6547] from his servants, [5650] and from his people; [5971] there remained [7604] not one. [0259]

 Mais Pharaon appesantit son cœur encore cette fois, et ne laissa point aller le peuple.

 And Pharaoh [6547] hardened [3513] his heart [3820] at this time [6471] also, neither would he let the people [5971] go. [7971]

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Va vers Pharaon, et dis-lui: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve;

 Then the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Go in [0935] unto Pharaoh, [6547] and tell [1696] him, Thus saith [0559] the LORD [3068] God [0430] of the Hebrews, [5680] Let my people [5971] go, [7971] that they may serve [5647] me.

 Car si tu refuses de les laisser aller, et si tu les retiens encore,

 For if thou refuse [3986] to let [them] go, [7971] and wilt hold [2388] them still,

 Voici, la main de YEHOVAH sera sur ton bétail qui est aux champs, sur les chevaux, sur les ânes, sur les chameaux, sur les bœufs et sur les brebis: il y aura une très grande mortalité.

 Behold, the hand [3027] of the LORD [3068] is [1961] upon thy cattle [4735] which [is] in the field, [7704] upon the horses, [5483] upon the asses, [2543] upon the camels, [1581] upon the oxen, [1241] and upon the sheep: [6629] [there shall be] a very [3966] grievous [3515] murrain. [1698]

 Et YEHOVAH distinguera entre le bétail d'Israël et le bétail des Égyptiens, et rien de tout ce qui est aux enfants d'Israël ne mourra.

 And the LORD [3068] shall sever [6395] between the cattle [4735] of Israel [3478] and the cattle [4735] of Egypt: [4714] and there shall nothing [1697] die [4191] of all [that is] the children's [1121] of Israel. [3478]

 Et YEHOVAH fixa le terme, en disant: Demain YEHOVAH fera cela dans le pays.

 And the LORD [3068] appointed [7760] a set time, [4150] saying, [0559] To morrow [4279] the LORD [3068] shall do [6213] this thing [1697] in the land. [0776]

 YEHOVAH fit donc cela dès le lendemain, et tout le bétail des Égyptiens mourut; mais du bétail des enfants d'Israël il ne mourut pas une seule bête.

 And the LORD [3068] did [6213] that thing [1697] on the morrow, [4283] and all the cattle [4735] of Egypt [4714] died: [4191] but of the cattle [4735] of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] died [4191] not one. [0259]

 Et Pharaon envoya voir, et voici, il n'était pas mort une seule bête du bétail d'Israël. Mais le cœur de Pharaon s'appesantit, et il ne laissa point aller le peuple.

 And Pharaoh [6547] sent, [7971] and, behold, there was not one [0259] of the cattle [4735] of the Israelites [3478] dead. [4191] And the heart [3820] of Pharaoh [6547] was hardened, [3513] and he did not let the people [5971] go. [7971]

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse et à Aaron: Prenez plein vos mains de cendre de fournaise, et que Moïse la répande vers les cieux, sous les yeux de Pharaon.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses [4872] and unto Aaron, [0175] Take [3947] to you handfuls [2651] [4393] of ashes [6368] of the furnace, [3536] and let Moses [4872] sprinkle [2236] it toward the heaven [8064] in the sight [5869] of Pharaoh. [6547]

 Et elle deviendra de la poussière sur tout le pays d'Égypte, et elle deviendra, sur les hommes et sur les bêtes, des ulcères bourgeonnant en pustules, dans tout le pays d'Égypte.

 And it shall become small dust [0080] in all the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] and shall be a boil [7822] breaking forth [6524] [with] blains [0076] upon man, [0120] and upon beast, [0929] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Ils prirent donc de la cendre de fournaise, et se tinrent devant Pharaon; et Moïse la répandit vers les cieux, et elle devint, sur les hommes et sur les bêtes, des ulcères bourgeonnant en pustules.

 And they took [3947] ashes [6368] of the furnace, [3536] and stood [5975] before [6440] Pharaoh; [6547] and Moses [4872] sprinkled [2236] it up toward heaven; [8064] and it became a boil [7822] breaking forth [6524] [with] blains [0076] upon man, [0120] and upon beast. [0929]

 Et les magiciens ne purent se tenir devant Moïse, à cause des ulcères; car les ulcères étaient sur les magiciens comme sur tous les Égyptiens.

 And the magicians [2748] could [3201] not stand [5975] before [6440] Moses [4872] because [6440] of the boils; [7822] for the boil [7822] was upon the magicians, [2748] and upon all the Egyptians. [4714]

 Et YEHOVAH endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne les écouta point, comme YEHOVAH l'avait dit à Moïse.

 And the LORD [3068] hardened [2388] the heart [3820] of Pharaoh, [6547] and he hearkened [8085] not unto them; as the LORD [3068] had spoken [1696] unto Moses. [4872]

 Puis, YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Lève-toi de bon matin, présente-toi devant Pharaon, et dis-lui: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve;

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Rise up early [7925] in the morning, [1242] and stand [3320] before [6440] Pharaoh, [6547] and say [0559] unto him, Thus saith [0559] the LORD [3068] God [0430] of the Hebrews, [5680] Let my people [5971] go, [7971] that they may serve [5647] me.

 Car cette fois, je vais envoyer toutes mes plaies contre ton cœur, et sur tes serviteurs et sur ton peuple, afin que tu saches que nul n'est semblable à moi sur toute la terre.

 For I will at this time [6471] send [7971] all my plagues [4046] upon thine heart, [3820] and upon thy servants, [5650] and upon thy people; [5971] that thou mayest know [3045] that [there is] none like me in all the earth. [0776]

 Car maintenant, si j'avais étendu ma main, et si je t'avais frappé par la mortalité, toi et ton peuple, tu serais effacé de la terre.

 For now I will stretch out [7971] my hand, [3027] that I may smite [5221] thee and thy people [5971] with pestilence; [1698] and thou shalt be cut off [3582] from the earth. [0776]

 Mais voici pourquoi je t'ai fait subsister: c'est afin que tu fasses voir ma puissance, et pour que mon nom soit célébré par toute la terre.

 And in very deed [0199] for this [cause] have I raised thee up, [5975] for [5668] to shew [7200] [in] thee my power; [3581] and that my name [8034] may be declared [5608] throughout all the earth. [0776]

 Si tu t'élèves encore contre mon peuple, pour ne point le laisser aller,

 As yet exaltest [5549] thou thyself against my people, [5971] that thou wilt not let them go? [7971]

 Voici je vais faire pleuvoir demain, à cette heure, une si forte grêle, qu'il n'y en a point eu de semblable en Égypte, depuis le jour où elle fut fondée jusqu'à présent.

 Behold, to morrow [4279] about this time [6256] I will cause it to rain [4305] a very [3966] grievous [3515] hail, [1259] such as [3644] hath not been in Egypt [4714] since [4480] the foundation [3117] [3245] thereof even until now.

 Maintenant donc, envoie mettre en sûreté ton bétail, et tout ce que tu as aux champs. La grêle tombera sur tous les hommes et les bêtes qui se trouveront aux champs, et qui ne se retireront pas dans les maisons, et ils mourront.

 Send [7971] therefore now, [and] gather [5756] thy cattle, [4735] and all that thou hast in the field; [7704] [for upon] every man [0120] and beast [0929] which shall be found [4672] in the field, [7704] and shall not be brought [0622] home, [1004] the hail [1259] shall come down [3381] upon them, and they shall die. [4191]

 Celui des serviteurs de Pharaon qui craignit la Parole de YEHOVAH, fit promptement retirer dans les maisons ses serviteurs et son bétail.

 He that feared [3373] the word [1697] of the LORD [3068] among the servants [5650] of Pharaoh [6547] made his servants [5650] and his cattle [4735] flee [5127] into the houses: [1004]

 Mais celui qui ne fit point attention à la Parole de YEHOVAH, laissa ses serviteurs et son bétail aux champs.

 And he that regarded [7760] [3820] not the word [1697] of the LORD [3068] left [5800] his servants [5650] and his cattle [4735] in the field. [7704]

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Étends ta main vers les cieux, et qu'il y ait de la grêle sur tout le pays d'Égypte, sur les hommes, et sur les bêtes, et sur toute herbe des champs dans le pays d'Égypte.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Stretch forth [5186] thine hand [3027] toward heaven, [8064] that there may be hail [1259] in all the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] upon man, [0120] and upon beast, [0929] and upon every herb [6212] of the field, [7704] throughout the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Moïse étendit donc sa verge vers les cieux, et YEHOVAH fit tonner et grêler, et le feu se promenait sur la terre. Et YEHOVAH fit pleuvoir de la grêle sur le pays d'Égypte.

 And Moses [4872] stretched forth [5186] his rod [4294] toward heaven: [8064] and the LORD [3068] sent [5414] thunder [6963] and hail, [1259] and the fire [0784] ran along [1980] upon the ground; [0776] and the LORD [3068] rained [4305] hail [1259] upon the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et il y eut de la grêle, et un feu continu au milieu de la grêle, qui était si prodigieuse, qu'il n'y en avait point eu de semblable dans tout le pays d'Égypte, depuis qu'il était devenu une nation.

 So there was hail, [1259] and fire [0784] mingled [3947] with [8432] the hail, [1259] very [3966] grievous, [3515] such as there was none [3808] like it in all the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] since it became a nation. [1471]

 Et la grêle frappa dans tout le pays d'Égypte tout ce qui était aux champs, depuis les hommes jusqu'aux bêtes. La grêle frappa aussi toutes les herbes des champs et brisa tous les arbres des champs.

 And the hail [1259] smote [5221] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] all that [was] in the field, [7704] both man [0120] and beast; [0929] and the hail [1259] smote [5221] every herb [6212] of the field, [7704] and brake [7665] every tree [6086] of the field. [7704]

 Le pays de Gossen, où étaient les enfants d'Israël, fut le seul où il n'y eut point de grêle.

 Only in the land [0776] of Goshen, [1657] where the children [1121] of Israel [3478] [were], was there no hail. [1259]

 Alors Pharaon envoya appeler Moïse et Aaron, et leur dit: J'ai péché cette fois; YEHOVAH est juste, et moi et mon peuple nous sommes coupables.

 And Pharaoh [6547] sent, [7971] and called [7121] for Moses [4872] and Aaron, [0175] and said [0559] unto them, I have sinned [2398] this time: [6471] the LORD [3068] [is] righteous, [6662] and I and my people [5971] [are] wicked. [7563]

 Intercédez auprès de YEHOVAH; et qu'il n'y ait plus de tonnerres ni de grêle; et je vous laisserai aller, et vous ne resterez pas plus longtemps.

 Intreat [6279] the LORD [3068] (for [it is] enough) [7227] that there be no [more] mighty [0430] thunderings [6963] and hail; [1259] and I will let you go, [7971] and ye shall stay [5975] no longer. [3254]

 Alors Moïse lui dit: Dès que je serai sorti de la ville, j'étendrai mes mains vers YEHOVAH, les tonnerres cesseront, et il n'y aura plus de grêle, afin que tu saches que la terre est à YEHOVAH.

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto him, As soon as I am gone out [3318] of the city, [5892] I will spread abroad [6566] my hands [3709] unto the LORD; [3068] [and] the thunder [6963] shall cease, [2308] neither shall there be any more hail; [1259] that thou mayest know [3045] how that the earth [0776] [is] the LORD'S. [3068]

 Mais, pour toi et tes serviteurs, je sais que vous ne craindrez pas encore YEHOVAH Dieu.

 But as for thee and thy servants, [5650] I know [3045] that ye will not yet fear [3372] [6440] the LORD [3068] God. [0430]

 Or, le lin et l'orge furent frappés; car l'orge était en épis, et le lin en fleur.

 And the flax [6594] and the barley [8184] was smitten: [5221] for the barley [8184] [was] in the ear, [0024] and the flax [6594] [was] bolled. [1392]

 Mais le blé et l'épeautre ne furent point frappés, parce qu'ils sont tardifs.

 But the wheat [2406] and the rie [3698] were not smitten: [5221] for they [2007] [were] not grown up. [0648]

 Moïse quitta donc Pharaon, sortit de la ville, et étendit ses mains vers YEHOVAH; et les tonnerres et la grêle cessèrent, et la pluie ne se répandit plus sur la terre.

 And Moses [4872] went out [3318] of the city [5892] from Pharaoh, [6547] and spread abroad [6566] his hands [3709] unto the LORD: [3068] and the thunders [6963] and hail [1259] ceased, [2308] and the rain [4306] was not poured [5413] upon the earth. [0776]

 Et Pharaon, voyant que la pluie, la grêle et les tonnerres avaient cessé, continua encore de pécher; et il appesantit son cœur, lui et ses serviteurs.

 And when Pharaoh [6547] saw [7200] that the rain [4306] and the hail [1259] and the thunders [6963] were ceased, [2308] he sinned [2398] yet more, [3254] and hardened [3513] his heart, [3820] he and his servants. [5650]

 Le cœur de Pharaon s'endurcit donc, et il ne laissa point aller les enfants d'Israël, comme YEHOVAH l'avait dit par l'organe de Moïse.

 And the heart [3820] of Pharaoh [6547] was hardened, [2388] neither would he let the children [1121] of Israel [3478] go; [7971] as the LORD [3068] had spoken [1696] by [3027] Moses. [4872]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Va vers Pharaon, car j'ai appesanti son cœur et le cœur de ses serviteurs, afin de mettre au milieu d'eux mes prodiges,

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Go in [0935] unto Pharaoh: [6547] for I have hardened [3513] his heart, [3820] and the heart [3820] of his servants, [5650] that I might shew [7896] these my signs [0226] before [7130] him:

 Et afin que tu racontes à ton fils et au fils de ton fils, les exploits que j'aurai accomplis sur les Égyptiens et les prodiges que j'aurai faits au milieu d'eux, et que vous sachiez que JE SUIS YEHOVAH.

 And that thou mayest tell [5608] in the ears [0241] of thy son, [1121] and of thy son's [1121] son, [1121] what things I have wrought [5953] in Egypt, [4714] and my signs [0226] which I have done [7760] among them; that ye may know [3045] how that I [am] the LORD. [3068]

 Moïse et Aaron vinrent donc vers Pharaon, et lui dirent: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH, le Dieu des Hébreux: Jusqu'à quand refuseras-tu de t'humilier devant moi? Laisse aller mon peuple, afin qu'il me serve.

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] came in [0935] unto Pharaoh, [6547] and said [0559] unto him, Thus saith [0559] the LORD [3068] God [0430] of the Hebrews, [5680] How long [4970] wilt thou refuse [3985] to humble [6031] thyself before [6440] me? let my people [5971] go, [7971] that they may serve [5647] me.

 Car si tu refuses de laisser aller mon peuple, voici, je ferai venir demain des sauterelles dans ton territoire.

 Else, [3588] if thou refuse [3986] to let my people [5971] go, [7971] behold, to morrow [4279] will I bring [0935] the locusts [0697] into thy coast: [1366]

 Et elles couvriront la face de la terre, et l'on ne pourra plus voir la terre; et elles dévoreront le reste de ce qui est échappé, ce que la grêle vous a laissé; et elles dévoreront tous les arbres qui poussent dans vos champs;

 And they shall cover [3680] the face [5869] of the earth, [0776] that one cannot be able [3201] to see [7200] the earth: [0776] and they shall eat [0398] the residue [3499] of that which is escaped, [6413] which remaineth [7604] unto you from the hail, [1259] and shall eat [0398] every tree [6086] which groweth [6779] for you out of the field: [7704]

 Et elles rempliront tes maisons, et les maisons de tous tes serviteurs, et les maisons de tous les Égyptiens; ce que tes pères n'ont point vu, ni les pères de tes pères, depuis le jour qu'ils ont été sur la terre, jusqu'à ce jour. Puis il se tourna et sortit de chez Pharaon.

 And they shall fill [4390] thy houses, [1004] and the houses [1004] of all thy servants, [5650] and the houses [1004] of all the Egyptians; [4714] which neither thy fathers, [0001] nor thy fathers' [0001] fathers [0001] have seen, [7200] since the day [3117] that they were upon the earth [0127] unto this day. [3117] And he turned [6437] himself, and went out [3318] from Pharaoh. [6547]

 Et les serviteurs de Pharaon lui dirent: Jusqu'à quand celui-ci nous sera-t-il en piège? Laisse aller ces gens, et qu'ils servent YEHOVAH leur Dieu. Ne vois-tu pas encore que l'Égypte est perdue?

 And Pharaoh's [6547] servants [5650] said [0559] unto him, How long shall this man be a snare [4170] unto us? let the men [0582] go, [7971] that they may serve [5647] the LORD [3068] their God: [0430] knowest [3045] thou not yet [2962] that Egypt [4714] is destroyed? [0006]

 Alors on fit revenir Moïse et Aaron vers Pharaon, et il leur dit: Allez, servez YEHOVAH votre Dieu. Quels sont tous ceux qui iront?

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] were brought again [7725] unto Pharaoh: [6547] and he said [0559] unto them, Go, [3212] serve [5647] the LORD [3068] your God: [0430] [but] who [are] they that shall go? [1980]

 Et Moïse répondit: Nous irons avec nos jeunes gens et nos vieillards, avec nos fils et nos filles; nous irons avec nos brebis et nos bœufs; car c'est pour nous une fête de YEHOVAH.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] We will go [3212] with our young [5288] and with our old, [2205] with our sons [1121] and with our daughters, [1323] with our flocks [6629] and with our herds [1241] will we go; [3212] for we [must hold] a feast [2282] unto the LORD. [3068]

 Alors il leur dit: Que YEHOVAH soit avec vous, comme je vous laisserai aller, vous et vos petits enfants! Prenez garde, car le mal est devant vous!

 And he said [0559] unto them, Let the LORD [3068] be so with you, as I will let you go, [7971] and your little ones: [2945] look [7200] [to it]; for evil [7451] [is] before [6440] you.

 Il n'en sera pas ainsi; allez, vous les hommes, et servez YEHOVAH; car c'est ce que vous demandiez. Et on les chassa de devant Pharaon.

 Not so: go [3212] now ye [that are] men, [1397] and serve [5647] the LORD; [3068] for that ye did desire. [1245] And they were driven out [1644] from Pharaoh's [6547] presence. [6440]

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Étends ta main sur le pays d'Égypte, pour faire venir les sauterelles, et qu'elles montent sur le pays d'Égypte, et dévorent toute l'herbe de la terre, tout ce que la grêle a laissé.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Stretch out [5186] thine hand [3027] over the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] for the locusts, [0697] that they may come up [5927] upon the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] and eat [0398] every herb [6212] of the land, [0776] [even] all that the hail [1259] hath left. [7604]

 Moïse étendit donc sa verge sur le pays d'Égypte; et YEHOVAH amena sur le pays, tout ce jour-là et toute la nuit, un vent d'Orient; le matin vint, et le vent d'Orient avait apporté les sauterelles.

 And Moses [4872] stretched forth [5186] his rod [4294] over the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] and the LORD [3068] brought [5090] an east [6921] wind [7307] upon the land [0776] all that day, [3117] and all [that] night; [3915] [and] when it was morning, [1242] the east [6921] wind [7307] brought [5375] the locusts.  Et les sauterelles montèrent sur tout le pays d'Égypte, et s'abattirent dans tout le territoire de l'Égypte, en très grand nombre. Il n'y en avait point eu avant elles de semblables, et il n'y en aura point de semblables après elles.

 And the locusts [0697] went up [5927] over all the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] and rested [5117] in all the coasts [1366] of Egypt: [4714] very [3966] grievous [3515] [were they]; before [6440] them there were no such [3651] locusts [0697] as they, neither after [0310] them shall be such.

 Elles couvrirent la face de tout le pays, et le pays en fut obscurci; et elles dévorèrent toute l'herbe de la terre, et tout le fruit des arbres, que la grêle avait laissé; et il ne resta aucune verdure aux arbres, ni aux herbes des champs, dans tout le pays d'Égypte.

 For they covered [3680] the face [5869] of the whole earth, [0776] so that the land [0776] was darkened; [2821] and they did eat [0398] every herb [6212] of the land, [0776] and all the fruit [6529] of the trees [6086] which the hail [1259] had left: [3498] and there remained [3498] not any green thing [3418] in the trees, [6086] or in the herbs [6212] of the field, [7704] through all the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Alors Pharaon se hâta d'appeler Moïse et Aaron, et dit: J'ai péché contre YEHOVAH votre Dieu, et contre vous.

 Then Pharaoh [6547] called [7121] for Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] in haste; [4116] and he said, [0559] I have sinned [2398] against the LORD [3068] your God, [0430] and against you.

 Mais, maintenant, pardonne, je te prie, mon péché, pour cette fois seulement; et intercédez auprès de YEHOVAH votre Dieu, pour qu'il éloigne de moi seulement cette mort.

 Now therefore forgive, [5375] I pray thee, my sin [2403] only this once, [6471] and intreat [6279] the LORD [3068] your God, [0430] that he may take away [5493] from me this death [4194] only.

 Il sortit donc de chez Pharaon, et intercéda auprès de YEHOVAH.

 And he went out [3318] from Pharaoh, [6547] and intreated [6279] the LORD. [3068]

 Et YEHOVAH ramena un vent d'Occident très fort, qui emporta les sauterelles, et les précipita dans la mer Rouge. Il ne resta pas une seule sauterelle dans tout le territoire de l'Égypte.

 And the LORD [3068] turned [2015] a mighty [3966] strong [2389] west [3220] wind, [7307] which took away [5375] the locusts, [0697] and cast [8628] them into the Red [5488] sea; [3220] there remained [7604] not one [0259] locust [0697] in all the coasts [1366] of Egypt. [4714]

 Mais YEHOVAH endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne laissa point aller les enfants d'Israël.

 But the LORD [3068] hardened [2388] Pharaoh's [6547] heart, [3820] so that he would not let the children [1121] of Israel [3478] go. [7971]

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Étends ta main vers les cieux, et qu'il y ait des ténèbres sur le pays d'Égypte, telles qu'on puisse les toucher.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Stretch out [5186] thine hand [3027] toward heaven, [8064] that there may be darkness [2822] over the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] even darkness [2822] [which] may be felt. [4959]

 Moïse étendit donc sa main vers les cieux, et il y eut d'épaisses ténèbres dans tout le pays d'Égypte, pendant trois jours;

 And Moses [4872] stretched forth [5186] his hand [3027] toward heaven; [8064] and there was a thick [0653] darkness [2822] in all the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] three [7969] days: [3117]

 On ne se voyait pas l'un l'autre, et nul ne se leva de sa place, pendant trois jours. Mais pour tous les enfants d'Israël il y eut de la lumière dans le lieu de leurs demeures.

 They saw [7200] not one [0376] another, [0251] neither rose [6965] any [0376] from his place for three [7969] days: [3117] but all the children [1121] of Israel [3478] had light [0216] in their dwellings. [4186]

 Alors Pharaon appela Moïse et dit: Allez, servez YEHOVAH; que vos brebis et vos bœufs seuls demeurent; vos petits enfants iront aussi avec vous.

 And Pharaoh [6547] called [7121] unto Moses, [4872] and said, [0559] Go [3212] ye, serve [5647] the LORD; [3068] only let your flocks [6629] and your herds [1241] be stayed: [3322] let your little ones [2945] also go [3212] with you.

 Mais Moïse répondit: Tu mettras toi-même entre nos mains de quoi faire des sacrifices et des offrandes à brûler, que nous offrirons à YEHOVAH notre Dieu.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] Thou must give [5414] us [3027] also sacrifices [2077] and burnt offerings, [5930] that we may sacrifice [6213] unto the LORD [3068] our God. [0430]

 Et nos troupeaux iront aussi avec nous; il n'en restera pas un ongle. Car nous en prendrons pour servir YEHOVAH notre Dieu; et nous ne saurons avec quoi nous devrons servir YEHOVAH, que nous ne soyons arrivés là.

 Our cattle [4735] also shall go [3212] with us; there shall not an hoof [6541] be left [7604] behind; for thereof must we take [3947] to serve [5647] the LORD [3068] our God; [0430] and we know [3045] not with what we must serve [5647] the LORD, [3068] until we come [0935] thither.

 Mais YEHOVAH endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne voulut point les laisser aller.

 But the LORD [3068] hardened [2388] Pharaoh's [6547] heart, [3820] and he would [0014] not let them go. [7971]

 Et Pharaon lui dit: Va-t'en de devant moi! Garde-toi de revoir ma face, car le jour où tu verras ma face, tu mourras.

 And Pharaoh [6547] said [0559] unto him, Get [3212] thee from me, take heed [8104] to thyself, see [7200] my face [6440] no more; [3254] for in [that] day [3117] thou seest [7200] my face [6440] thou shalt die. [4191]

 Alors Moïse répondit: Tu as bien dit; je ne reverrai plus ta face.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] Thou hast spoken [1696] well, [3651] I will see [7200] thy face [6440] again [3254] no more.

 Or YEHOVAH avait dit à Moïse: Je ferai venir encore une plaie sur Pharaon et sur l'Égypte; après cela, il vous laissera partir d'ici. Quand il vous laissera aller tout à fait, il vous chassera d'ici.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Yet will I bring [0935] one [0259] plague [5061] [more] upon Pharaoh, [6547] and upon Egypt; [4714] afterwards [0310] he will let you go [7971] hence: when he shall let [you] go, [7971] he shall surely [1644] thrust you out [1644] hence altogether. [3617]

 Parle donc au peuple, et dis-leur qu'ils demandent, chacun à son voisin et chacune à sa voisine, des objets d'argent et d'or.

 Speak [1696] now in the ears [0241] of the people, [5971] and let every man [0376] borrow [7592] of his neighbour, [7453] and every woman [0802] of her neighbour, [7468] jewels [3627] of silver, [3701] and jewels [3627] of gold. [2091]

 Et YEHOVAH fit trouver grâce au peuple devant les Égyptiens; et même Moïse était un fort grand homme dans le pays d'Égypte, aux yeux des serviteurs de Pharaon et aux yeux du peuple.

 And the LORD [3068] gave [5414] the people [5971] favour [2580] in the sight [5869] of the Egyptians. [4714] Moreover the man [0376] Moses [4872] [was] very [3966] great [1419] in the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] in the sight [5869] of Pharaoh's [6547] servants, [5650] and in the sight [5869] of the people. [5971]

 Et Moïse dit: Ainsi a dit YEHOVAH: Sur le minuit, je passerai au milieu de l'Égypte.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] Thus saith [0559] the LORD, [3068] About midnight [3915] [2676] will I go out [3318] into the midst [8432] of Egypt: [4714]

 Et tout premier-né mourra au pays d'Égypte, depuis le premier-né de Pharaon, qui est assis sur son trône, jusqu'au premier-né de la servante qui est derrière la meule, ainsi que tout premier-né des bêtes.

 And all the firstborn [1060] in the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] shall die, [4191] from the firstborn [1060] of Pharaoh [6547] that sitteth [3427] upon his throne, [3678] even unto the firstborn [1060] of the maidservant [8198] that [is] behind [0310] the mill; [7347] and all the firstborn [1060] of beasts. [0929]

 Et il y aura un si grand cri dans tout le pays d'Égypte, qu'il n'y en eut jamais et qu'il n'y en aura plus de semblable.

 And there shall be a great [1419] cry [6818] throughout all the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] such as there was [1961] none [3808] like it, nor [3808] shall be like it any more. [3254]

 Mais, parmi tous les enfants d'Israël, pas même un chien ne remuera sa langue, depuis l'homme jusqu'aux bêtes; afin que vous sachiez quelle différence YEHOVAH met entre les Égyptiens et Israël.

 But against any of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] shall not a dog [3611] move [2782] his tongue, [3956] against man [0376] or beast: [0929] that ye may know [3045] how that the LORD [3068] doth put a difference [6395] between the Egyptians [4714] and Israel. [3478]

 Et tous tes serviteurs que voici descendront vers moi, et se prosterneront devant moi, en disant: Sors, toi, et tout le peuple qui te suit! Et, après cela, je sortirai. Et Moïse sortit d'auprès de Pharaon dans une ardente colère.

 And all these thy servants [5650] shall come down [3381] unto me, and bow down [7812] themselves unto me, saying, [0559] Get thee out, [3318] and all the people [5971] that follow [7272] thee: and after [0310] that I will go out. [3318] And he went out [3318] from Pharaoh [6547] in a great [2750] anger. [0639]

 Or YEHOVAH avait dit à Moïse: Pharaon ne vous écoutera point, afin que mes miracles se multiplient dans le pays d'Égypte.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Pharaoh [6547] shall not hearken [8085] unto you; that my wonders [4159] may be multiplied [7235] in the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et Moïse et Aaron firent tous ces miracles devant Pharaon. Mais YEHOVAH endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne laissa point aller les enfants d'Israël hors de son pays.

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] did [6213] all these wonders [4159] before [6440] Pharaoh: [6547] and the LORD [3068] hardened [2388] Pharaoh's [6547] heart, [3820] so that he would not let the children [1121] of Israel [3478] go [7971] out of his land. [0776]

 Or YEHOVAH parla à Moïse et à Aaron, au pays d'Égypte, en disant:

 And the LORD [3068] spake [0559] unto Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] in the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] saying, [0559]

 Ce mois sera pour vous le commencement des mois; il sera pour vous le premier des mois de l'année.

 This month [2320] [shall be] unto you the beginning [7218] of months: [2320] it [shall be] the first [7223] month [2320] of the year [8141] to you.

 Parlez à toute l'assemblée d'Israël et dites: Qu'au dixième jour de ce mois ils prennent chacun un agneau ou un chevreau par maison de leurs pères, un agneau ou un chevreau par maison.

 Speak [1696] ye unto all the congregation [5712] of Israel, [3478] saying, [0559] In the tenth [6218] [day] of this month [2320] they shall take [3947] to them every man [0376] a lamb, [7716] according to the house [1004] of [their] fathers, [0001] a lamb [7716] for an house: [1004]

 Et si la maison est trop petite pour le manger, qu'on le prenne avec son voisin le plus rapproché de sa maison, d'après le nombre des personnes; vous compterez pour l'agneau selon ce que chacun peut manger.

 And if the household [1004] be too little [4591] [1961] for the lamb, [7716] let him and his neighbour [7934] next [7138] unto his house [1004] take [3947] [it] according to the number [4373] of the souls; [5315] every man [0376] according [6310] to his eating [0400] shall make your count [3699] for the lamb. [7716]

 Vous aurez un agneau ou chevreau sans défaut, mâle, âgé d'un an; vous le prendrez d'entre les brebis ou d'entre les chèvres.

 Your lamb [7716] shall be without blemish, [8549] a male [2145] of the first [1121] year: [8141] ye shall take [3947] [it] out from the sheep, [3532] or from the goats: [5795]

 Et vous le garderez jusqu'au quatorzième jour de ce mois, et toute la communauté d'Israël assemblée l'égorgera entre les deux soirs.

 And ye shall keep [4931] it up until the fourteenth [0702] [6240] day [3117] of the same month: [2320] and the whole [3605] assembly [6951] of the congregation [5712] of Israel [3478] shall kill [7819] it in [0996] the evening. [6153]

 Et ils prendront de son sang, et le mettront sur les deux poteaux, et sur le linteau de la porte des maisons où ils le mangeront.

 And they shall take [3947] of the blood, [1818] and strike [5414] [it] on the two [8147] side posts [4201] and on the upper door post [4947] of the houses, [1004] wherein they shall eat [0398] it.

 Et cette nuit-là, ils en mangeront la chair rôtie au feu; ils la mangeront avec des pains sans levain et des herbes amères.

 And they shall eat [0398] the flesh [1320] in that night, [3915] roast [6748] with fire, [0784] and unleavened bread; [4682] [and] with bitter [4844] [herbs] they shall eat [0398] it.

 N'en mangez rien à demi cuit, ni qui ait été bouilli dans l'eau; mais qu'il soit rôti au feu, sa tête ainsi que ses jambes et ses entrailles.

 Eat [0398] not of it raw, [4995] nor sodden [1310] [1311] at all with water, [4325] but roast [6748] [with] fire; [0784] his head [7218] with his legs, [3767] and with the purtenance [7130] thereof.

 Vous n'en laisserez rien de reste jusqu'au matin; et ce qui en restera au matin, vous le brûlerez au feu.

 And ye shall let nothing of it remain [3498] until the morning; [1242] and that which remaineth [3498] of it until the morning [1242] ye shall burn [8313] with fire. [0784]

 Et voici comment vous le mangerez: vos reins ceints, vos sandales aux pieds, et votre bâton à la main; et vous le mangerez à la hâte; c'est la Pâque (passage) de YEHOVAH.

 And thus [3602] shall ye eat [0398] it; [with] your loins [4975] girded, [2296] your shoes [5275] on your feet, [7272] and your staff [4731] in your hand; [3027] and ye shall eat [0398] it in haste: [2649] it [is] the LORD'S [3068] passover. [6453]

 Cette nuit-là je passerai dans le pays d'Égypte, et je frapperai tout premier-né dans le pays d'Égypte, depuis les hommes jusqu'aux bêtes; et j'exercerai des jugements sur tous les dieux de l'Égypte. JE SUIS YEHOVAH.

 For I will pass [5674] through the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] this night, [3915] and will smite [5221] all the firstborn [1060] in the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] both man [0120] and beast; [0929] and against all the gods [0430] of Egypt [4714] I will execute [6213] judgment: [8201] I [am] the LORD. [3068]

 Et le sang vous servira de signe sur les maisons où vous serez; je verrai le sang et je passerai par-dessus vous, et il n'y aura point parmi vous de plaie de destruction, lorsque je frapperai le pays d'Égypte.

 And the blood [1818] shall be to you for a token [0226] upon the houses [1004] where ye [are]: and when I see [7200] the blood, [1818] I will pass [6452] over you, and the plague [5063] shall not be upon you to destroy [4889] [you], when I smite [5221] the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et ce jour-là vous sera en mémorial; et vous le célébrerez comme une fête à YEHOVAH, d'âge en âge; vous le célébrerez comme une ordonnance perpétuelle.

 And this day [3117] shall be unto you for a memorial; [2146] and ye shall keep [2287] it a feast [2282] to the LORD [3068] throughout your generations; [1755] ye shall keep it a feast [2287] by an ordinance [2708] for ever. [5769]

 Pendant sept jours vous mangerez des pains sans levain; et dès le premier jour vous ôterez le levain de vos maisons. Car toute personne qui mangera du pain levé, depuis le premier jour jusqu'au septième, sera retranchée d'Israël.

 Seven [7651] days [3117] shall ye eat [0398] unleavened bread; [4682] even [0389] the first [7223] day [3117] ye shall put away [7673] leaven [7603] out of your houses: [1004] for whosoever eateth [0398] leavened bread [2557] from the first [7223] day [3117] until the seventh [7637] day, [3117] that soul [5315] shall be cut off [3772] from Israel. [3478]

 Au premier jour, il y aura une sainte convocation; vous en aurez aussi une au septième jour. Il ne se fera aucune œuvre en ces jours-là; on vous apprêtera seulement ce que chaque personne doit manger.

 And in the first [7223] day [3117] [there shall be] an holy [6944] convocation, [4744] and in the seventh [7637] day [3117] there shall be an holy [6944] convocation [4744] to you; no manner of work [4399] shall be done [6213] in them, save [0389] [that] which every man [5315] must eat, [0398] that only may be done [6213] of you.

 Vous observerez donc la fête des pains sans levain; car en ce même jour j'aurai retiré vos armées du pays d'Égypte. Vous observerez ce jour-là d'âge en âge comme une ordonnance perpétuelle.

 And ye shall observe [8104] [the feast of] unleavened bread; [4682] for in this selfsame [6106] day [3117] have I brought your armies [6635] out [3318] of the land [0776] of Egypt: [4714] therefore shall ye observe [8104] this day [3117] in your generations [1755] by an ordinance [2708] for ever. [5769]

 Au premier mois, au quatorzième jour du mois, vous mangerez, le soir, des pains sans levain, jusqu'au vingt et unième jour du mois, au soir.

 In the first [7223] [month], on the fourteenth [6240] [0702] day [3117] of the month [2320] at even, [6153] ye shall eat [0398] unleavened bread, [4682] until the one [0259] and twentieth [6242] day [3117] of the month [2320] at even. [6153]

 Pendant sept jours, il ne se trouvera point de levain dans vos maisons; car toute personne qui mangera du pain levé, sera retranchée de l'assemblée d'Israël, que ce soit un étranger ou quelqu'un né dans le pays.

 Seven [7651] days [3117] shall there be no leaven [7603] found [4672] in your houses: [1004] for whosoever eateth [0398] that which is leavened, [2556] even that soul [5315] shall be cut off [3772] from the congregation [5712] of Israel, [3478] whether he be a stranger, [1616] or born [0249] in the land. [0776]

 Vous ne mangerez point de pain levé; dans toutes vos demeures, vous mangerez des pains sans levain.

 Ye shall eat [0398] nothing leavened; [2556] in all your habitations [4186] shall ye eat [0398] unleavened bread. [4682]

 Moïse appela donc tous les anciens d'Israël, et leur dit: Allez et prenez du menu bétail pour vos familles, et immolez la Pâque.

 Then Moses [4872] called [7121] for all the elders [2205] of Israel, [3478] and said [0559] unto them, Draw out [4900] and take [3947] you a lamb [6629] according to your families, [4940] and kill [7819] the passover. [6453]

 Et vous prendrez un bouquet d'hysope; vous le tremperez dans le sang qui sera dans le bassin, et vous aspergerez, du sang qui sera dans le bassin, le linteau et les deux poteaux; et nul de vous ne sortira de la porte de sa maison, jusqu'au matin.

 And ye shall take [3947] a bunch [0092] of hyssop, [0231] and dip [2881] [it] in the blood [1818] that [is] in the bason, [5592] and strike [5060] the lintel [4947] and the two [8147] side posts [4201] with the blood [1818] that [is] in the bason; [5592] and none [0376] of you shall go out [3318] at the door [6607] of his house [1004] until the morning.  Et YEHOVAH passera pour frapper l'Égypte, et il verra le sang sur le linteau, et sur les deux poteaux; et YEHOVAH passera par-dessus la porte, et ne permettra point au destructeur d'entrer dans vos maisons pour frapper.

 For the LORD [3068] will pass through [5674] to smite [5062] the Egyptians; [4714] and when he seeth [7200] the blood [1818] upon the lintel, [4947] and on the two [8147] side posts, [4201] the LORD [3068] will pass [6452] over the door, [6607] and will not suffer [5414] the destroyer [7843] to come [0935] in unto your houses [1004] to smite [5062] [you].

 Vous garderez ceci comme une ordonnance perpétuelle, pour vous et pour vos enfants.

 And ye shall observe [8104] this thing [1697] for an ordinance [2706] to thee and to thy sons [1121] for [5704] ever. [5769]

 Et quand vous serez entrés au pays que YEHOVAH vous donnera, comme il l'a dit, vous observerez cette cérémonie.

 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come [0935] to the land [0776] which the LORD [3068] will give [5414] you, according as he hath promised, [1696] that ye shall keep [8104] this service. [5656]

 Et quand vos enfants vous diront: Que signifie pour vous cette cérémonie?

 And it shall come to pass, when your children [1121] shall say [0559] unto you, What mean ye by this service? [5656]

 Alors vous répondrez: C'est le sacrifice de la Pâque à YEHOVAH, qui passa par-dessus les maisons des enfants d'Israël en Égypte, quand il frappa l'Égypte et qu'il préserva nos maisons. Alors le peuple s'inclina et se prosterna.

 Et les enfants d'Israël s'en allèrent, et firent comme YEHOVAH l'avait commandé à Moïse et à Aaron; ils firent ainsi.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] went away, [3212] and did [6213] as the LORD [3068] had commanded [6680] Moses [4872] and Aaron, [0175] so did [6213] they.

 Et il arriva qu'à minuit YEHOVAH frappa tout premier-né dans le pays d'Égypte, depuis le premier-né de Pharaon, assis sur son trône, jusqu'aux premiers-nés des captifs qui étaient dans la prison, et tous les premiers-nés des bêtes.

 And it came to pass, that at midnight [2677] [3915] the LORD [3068] smote [5221] all the firstborn [1060] in the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] from the firstborn [1060] of Pharaoh [6547] that sat [3427] on his throne [3678] unto the firstborn [1060] of the captive [7628] that [was] in the dungeon; [1004] [0953] and all the firstborn [1060] of cattle.  Et Pharaon se leva de nuit, lui et tous ses serviteurs, et tous les Égyptiens; et il y eut un grand cri en Égypte, car il n'y avait point de maison où il n'y eût un mort.

 And Pharaoh [6547] rose up [6965] in the night, [3915] he, and all his servants, [5650] and all the Egyptians; [4714] and there was a great [1419] cry [6818] in Egypt; [4714] for [there was] not a house [1004] where [there was] not one dead. [4191]

 Il appela donc Moïse et Aaron, de nuit, et leur dit: Levez-vous; sortez du milieu de mon peuple, vous et les enfants d'Israël; allez, servez YEHOVAH, comme vous l'avez dit.

 And he called [7121] for Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] by night, [3915] and said, [0559] Rise up, [6965] [and] get you forth [3318] from among [8432] my people, [5971] both ye and the children [1121] of Israel; [3478] and go, [3212] serve [5647] the LORD, [3068] as ye have said. [1696]

 Prenez aussi vos brebis et vos bœufs, comme vous l'avez dit; allez, et bénissez-moi aussi.

 Also take [3947] your flocks [6629] and your herds, [1241] as ye have said, [1696] and be gone; [3212] and bless [1288] me also.

 Et les Égyptiens pressèrent le peuple, pour le faire sortir à la hâte du pays; car ils disaient: Nous sommes tous morts!

 And the Egyptians [4714] were urgent [2388] upon the people, [5971] that they might send [7971] them out of the land [0776] in haste; [4116] for they said, [0559] We [be] all dead [4191] [men].

 Le peuple prit donc sa pâte, avant qu'elle fût levée, avec leurs huches liées dans leurs vêtements sur leurs épaules.

 And the people [5971] took [5375] their dough [1217] before it was leavened, [2556] their kneadingtroughs [4863] being bound up [6887] in their clothes [8071] upon their shoulders. [7926]

 Or, les enfants d'Israël avaient fait selon la parole de Moïse, et avaient demandé aux Égyptiens des objets d'argent et d'or, et des vêtements.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] did [6213] according to the word [1697] of Moses; [4872] and they borrowed [7592] of the Egyptians [4714] jewels [3627] of silver, [3701] and jewels [3627] of gold, [2091] and raiment: [8071]

 Et YEHOVAH avait fait trouver grâce au peuple aux yeux des Égyptiens, qui les leur avaient prêtés; et ils dépouillèrent les Égyptiens.

 And the LORD [3068] gave [5414] the people [5971] favour [2580] in the sight [5869] of the Egyptians, [4714] so that they lent [7592] unto them [such things as they required]. And they spoiled [5337] the Egyptians. [4714]

 Et les enfants d'Israël partirent de Ramsès pour Succoth, au nombre d'environ six cent mille hommes de pied, sans les petits enfants.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] journeyed [5265] from Rameses [7486] to Succoth, [5523] about six [8337] hundred [3967] thousand [0505] on foot [7273] [that were] men, [1397] beside [0905] children. [2945]

 Un grand nombre d'étrangers montèrent aussi avec eux, ainsi que des brebis et des bœufs, un bétail très considérable.

 And a mixed [6154] multitude [7227] went up [5927] also with them; and flocks, [6629] and herds, [1241] [even] very [3966] much [3515] cattle. [4735]

 Et ils firent cuire en gâteaux sans levain la pâte qu'ils avaient emportée d'Égypte, car elle n'était pas levée; car ils avaient été chassés d'Égypte, sans pouvoir s'attarder, et ils ne s'étaient même préparé aucune provision.

 And they baked [0644] unleavened [4682] cakes [5692] of the dough [1217] which they brought forth [3318] out of Egypt, [4714] for it was not leavened; [2556] because they were thrust out [1644] of Egypt, [4714] and could [3201] not tarry, [4102] neither had they prepared [6213] for themselves any victual.  Or, le séjour que les enfants d'Israël firent en Égypte, fut de quatre cent trente ans.

 Now the sojourning [4186] of the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] who dwelt [3427] in Egypt, [4714] [was] four [0702] hundred [3967] [8141] and thirty [7970] years. [8141]

 Il arriva donc, au bout de quatre cent trente ans, il arriva, en ce même jour, que toutes les armées de YEHOVAH sortirent du pays d'Égypte.

 And it came to pass at the end [7093] of the four [0702] hundred [3967] [8141] and thirty [7970] years, [8141] even the selfsame [6106] day [3117] it came to pass, that all the hosts [6635] of the LORD [3068] went out [3318] from the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 C'est une nuit qu'on doit observer en l'honneur de YEHOVAH, pour les avoir retirés du pays d'Égypte. Cette nuit-là doit être observée, en l'honneur de YEHOVAH, par tous les enfants d'Israël, d'âge en âge.

 It [is] a night [3915] to be much observed [8107] unto the LORD [3068] for bringing them out [3318] from the land [0776] of Egypt: [4714] this [is] that night [3915] of the LORD [3068] to be observed [8107] of all the children [1121] of Israel [3478] in their generations. [1755]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse et à Aaron: Voici l'ordonnance de la Pâque: Nul étranger n'en mangera.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses [4872] and Aaron, [0175] This [is] the ordinance [2708] of the passover: [6453] There shall no stranger [1121] [5236] eat [0398] thereof:

 Quant à tout esclave, homme acquis à prix d'argent, tu le circonciras, et alors il en mangera.

 But every man's [0376] servant [5650] that is bought [4736] for money, [3701] when thou hast circumcised [4135] him, then shall he eat [0398] thereof.

 L'habitant étranger et le mercenaire n'en mangeront point.

 A foreigner [8453] and an hired servant [7916] shall not eat [0398] thereof.

 Elle sera mangée dans une même maison; tu n'emporteras point de la chair hors de la maison, et vous n'en briserez aucun os.

 In one [0259] house [1004] shall it be eaten; [0398] thou shalt not carry forth [3318] ought of the flesh [1320] abroad [2351] out of the house; [1004] neither shall ye break [7665] a bone [6106] thereof.

 Toute l'assemblée d'Israël fera la Pâque.

 All the congregation [5712] of Israel [3478] shall keep [6213] it.

 Et quand un étranger séjournera chez toi, et voudra faire la Pâque à YEHOVAH, que tout mâle qui lui appartient, soit circoncis; et alors il s'approchera pour la faire, et il sera comme celui qui est né au pays; mais nul incirconcis n'en mangera.

 And when a stranger [1616] shall sojourn [1481] with thee, and will keep [6213] the passover [6453] to the LORD, [3068] let all his males [2145] be circumcised, [4135] and then let him come near [7126] and keep [6213] it; and he shall be as one that is born [0249] in the land: [0776] for no uncircumcised [6189] person shall eat [0398] thereof.

 Il y aura une même loi pour celui qui est né dans le pays et pour l'étranger séjournant au milieu de vous.

 One [0259] law [8451] shall be to him that is homeborn, [0249] and unto the stranger [1616] that sojourneth [1481] among [8432] you.

 Et tous les enfants d'Israël firent comme YEHOVAH avait commandé à Moïse et à Aaron; ils firent ainsi.

 Thus did [6213] all the children [1121] of Israel; [3478] as the LORD [3068] commanded [6680] Moses [4872] and Aaron, [0175] so did [6213] they.

 Il arriva donc, en ce même jour-là, que YEHOVAH retira du pays d'Égypte les enfants d'Israël selon leurs armées.

 And it came to pass the selfsame [6106] day, [3117] [that] the LORD [3068] did bring the children [1121] of Israel [3478] out [3318] of the land [0776] of Egypt [4714] by their armies. [6635]

 Et YEHOVAH parla à Moïse, en disant:

 And the LORD [3068] spake [1696] unto Moses, [4872] saying, [0559]

 Sanctifie-moi tout premier-né, tout ce qui naît le premier parmi les enfants d'Israël, parmi les hommes et parmi les bêtes; il est à moi.

 Sanctify [6942] unto me all the firstborn, [1060] whatsoever openeth [6363] the womb [7358] among the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] [both] of man [0120] and of beast: [0929] it [is] mine.

 Et Moïse dit au peuple: Souvenez-vous de ce jour où vous êtes sortis d'Égypte, de la maison de servitude, car YEHOVAH vous en a retirés à main forte; et qu'on ne mange point de pain levé.

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto the people, [5971] Remember [2142] this day, [3117] in which ye came out [3318] from Egypt, [4714] out of the house [1004] of bondage; [5650] for by strength [2392] of hand [3027] the LORD [3068] brought you out [3318] from this [2088] [place]: there shall no leavened bread [2557] be eaten. [0398]

 Vous sortez aujourd'hui, au mois des épis.

 This day [3117] came ye out [3318] in the month [2320] Abib. [0024]

 Quand donc YEHOVAH t'aura introduit au pays des Cananéens, des Héthiens, des Amoréens, des Héviens, et des Jébusiens, qu'il a juré à tes pères de te donner, pays où coulent le lait et le miel, alors tu feras ce service en ce mois-là.

 And it shall be when the LORD [3068] shall bring [0935] thee into the land [0776] of the Canaanites, [3669] and the Hittites, [2850] and the Amorites, [0567] and the Hivites, [2340] and the Jebusites, [2983] which he sware [7650] unto thy fathers [0001] to give [5414] thee, a land [0776] flowing [2100] with milk [2461] and honey, [1706] that thou shalt keep [5647] this service [5656] in this month. [2320]

 Pendant sept jours tu mangeras des pains sans levain, et au septième jour il y aura une fête à YEHOVAH.

 Seven [7651] days [3117] thou shalt eat [0398] unleavened bread, [4682] and in the seventh [7637] day [3117] [shall be] a feast [2282] to the LORD. [3068]

 On mangera des pains sans levain pendant sept jours; et l'on ne verra point chez toi de pain levé, et l'on ne verra point chez toi de levain dans tout ton territoire.

 Unleavened bread [4682] shall be eaten [0398] seven [7651] days; [3117] and there shall no leavened bread [2557] be seen [7200] with thee, neither shall there be leaven [7603] seen [7200] with thee in all thy quarters. [1366]

 Et tu l'expliqueras à ton fils en ce jour-là, en disant: C'est à cause de ce que YEHOVAH fit pour moi, lorsque je sortis d'Égypte.

 And thou shalt shew [5046] thy son [1121] in that day, [3117] saying, [0559] [This is done] because of [5668] that [2088] [which] the LORD [3068] did [6213] unto me when I came forth [3318] out of Egypt. [4714]

 Et cela te sera comme un signe sur ta main, et comme un mémorial entre tes yeux, afin que la loi de YEHOVAH soit dans ta bouche, car YEHOVAH t'a retiré d'Égypte à main forte.

 And it shall be for a sign [0226] unto thee upon thine hand, [3027] and for a memorial [2146] between thine eyes, [5869] that the LORD'S [3068] law [8451] may be in thy mouth: [6310] for with a strong [2389] hand [3027] hath the LORD [3068] brought thee out [3318] of Egypt. [4714]

 Tu garderas donc cette ordonnance, en sa saison, tous les ans.

 Thou shalt therefore keep [8104] this ordinance [2708] in his season [4150] from year [3117] to year. [3117]

 Et quand YEHOVAH t'aura introduit au pays des Cananéens, comme il l'a juré à toi et à tes pères, et qu'il te l'aura donné;

 And it shall be when the LORD [3068] shall bring [0935] thee into the land [0776] of the Canaanites, [3669] as he sware [7650] unto thee and to thy fathers, [0001] and shall give [5414] it thee,

 Alors tu présenteras à YEHOVAH tout ce qui naît le premier, et tous les premiers-nés des bêtes que tu auras; les mâles seront à YEHOVAH.

 That thou shalt set apart [5674] unto the LORD [3068] all that openeth [6363] the matrix, [7358] and every firstling [6363] that cometh [7698] of a beast [0929] which thou hast; the males [2145] [shall be] the LORD'S. [3068]

 Mais tu rachèteras avec un agneau ou chevreau tout premier-né de l'âne; et si tu ne le rachètes pas, tu lui rompras la nuque. Tu rachèteras aussi tout premier-né des hommes parmi tes enfants.

 And every firstling [6363] of an ass [2543] thou shalt redeem [6299] with a lamb; [7716] and if thou wilt not redeem [6299] it, then thou shalt break his neck: [6202] and all the firstborn [1060] of man [0120] among thy children [1121] shalt thou redeem. [6299]

 Et quand ton fils t'interrogera un jour, en disant: Que signifie cela? tu lui diras: Par sa main forte YEHOVAH nous a retirés d'Égypte, de la maison de servitude.

 And it shall be when thy son [1121] asketh [7592] thee in time to come, [4279] saying, [0559] What [is] this? that thou shalt say [0559] unto him, By strength [2392] of hand [3027] the LORD [3068] brought us out [3318] from Egypt, [4714] from the house [1004] of bondage: [5650]

 Et il arriva, quand Pharaon s'obstina à ne point nous laisser aller, que YEHOVAH tua tout premier-né dans le pays d'Égypte, depuis le premier-né de l'homme jusqu'au premier-né du bétail; c'est pourquoi, je sacrifie à YEHOVAH tous les mâles qui naissent les premiers, et je rachète tout premier-né de mes fils.

 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh [6547] would hardly [7185] let us go, [7971] that the LORD [3068] slew [2026] all the firstborn [1060] in the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] both the firstborn [1060] of man, [0120] and the firstborn [1060] of beast: [0929] therefore I sacrifice [2076] to the LORD [3068] all that openeth [6363] the matrix, [7358] being males; [2145] but all the firstborn [1060] of my children [1121] I redeem. [6299]

 Et cela sera comme un signe sur ta main, et des fronteaux entre tes yeux, que YEHOVAH nous a retirés d'Égypte à main forte.

 And it shall be for a token [0226] upon thine hand, [3027] and for frontlets [2903] between thine eyes: [5869] for by strength [2392] of hand [3027] the LORD [3068] brought us forth [3318] out of Egypt. [4714]

 Or, quand Pharaon eut laissé aller le peuple, Dieu ne les conduisit point par le chemin du pays des Philistins (la Palestine), qui est le plus proche; car Dieu dit: Il est à craindre que le peuple ne se repente, quand il verra la guerre, et qu'il ne retourne en Égypte.

 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh [6547] had let the people [5971] go, [7971] that God [0430] led [5148] them not [through] the way [1870] of the land [0776] of the Philistines, [6430] although [3588] that [was] near; [7138] for [3588] God [0430] said, [0559] Lest peradventure the people [5971] repent [5162] when they see [7200] war, [4421] and they return [7725] to Egypt: [4714]

 Mais Dieu fit faire au peuple un détour par le chemin du désert, vers la mer Rouge. Et les enfants d'Israël montèrent en armes du pays d'Égypte.

 But God [0430] led the people [5971] about, [5437] [through] the way [1870] of the wilderness [4057] of the Red [5488] sea: [3220] and the children [1121] of Israel [3478] went up [5927] harnessed [2571] out of the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et Moïse prit avec lui les os de Joseph; car Joseph avait fait expressément jurer les enfants en disant: Dieu vous visitera certainement; et vous transporterez mes os d'ici avec vous.

 And Moses [4872] took [3947] the bones [6106] of Joseph [3130] with him: for he had straitly [7650] sworn [7650] the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] saying, [0559] God [0430] will surely [6485] visit [6485] you; and ye shall carry up [5927] my bones [6106] away hence with you.

 Or, ils partirent de Succoth, et campèrent à Étham, au bout du désert.

 And they took their journey [5265] from Succoth, [5523] and encamped [2583] in Etham, [0864] in the edge [7097] of the wilderness. [4057]

 Et YEHOVAH allait devant eux, le jour dans une colonne de nuée, pour les conduire par le chemin, et la nuit dans une colonne de feu, pour les éclairer, afin qu'ils marchent jour et nuit.

 And the LORD [3068] went [1980] before [6440] them by day [3119] in a pillar [5982] of a cloud, [6051] to lead [5148] them the way; [1870] and by night [3915] in a pillar [5982] of fire, [0784] to give them light; [0215] to go [3212] by day [3119] and night: [3915]

 La colonne de nuée ne se retirait point de devant le peuple pendant le jour, ni la colonne de feu pendant la nuit.

 He took not away [4185] the pillar [5982] of the cloud [6051] by day, [3119] nor the pillar [5982] of fire [0784] by night, [3915] [from] before [6440] the people. [5971]

 Et YEHOVAH parla à Moïse, en disant:

 And the LORD [3068] spake [1696] unto Moses, [4872] saying, [0559]

 Parle aux enfants d'Israël; et qu'ils retournent et campent devant Pi-Hahiroth, entre Migdol et la mer, devant Baal-Tsephon; vous camperez vis-à-vis de ce lieu, près de la mer.

 Speak [1696] unto the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] that they turn [7725] and encamp [2583] before [6440] Pihahiroth, [6367] between Migdol [4024] and the sea, [3220] over against [6440] Baalzephon: [1189] before [5226] it shall ye encamp [2583] by the sea. [3220]

 Et Pharaon dira des enfants d'Israël: Ils sont égarés dans le pays; le désert les a enfermés.

 For Pharaoh [6547] will say [0559] of the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] They [are] entangled [0943] in the land, [0776] the wilderness [4057] hath shut [5462] them in.

 Et j'endurcirai le cœur de Pharaon, et il les poursuivra; mais je serai glorifié en Pharaon et dans toute son armée, et les Égyptiens sauront que JE SUIS YEHOVAH. Et ils firent ainsi.

 And I will harden [2388] Pharaoh's [6547] heart, [3820] that he shall follow [7291] after [0310] them; and I will be honoured [3513] upon Pharaoh, [6547] and upon all his host; [2428] that the Egyptians [4714] may know [3045] that I [am] the LORD. [3068] And they did [6213] so.

 Or, on rapporta au roi d'Égypte que le peuple s'était enfui. Et le cœur de Pharaon et de ses serviteurs fut changé à l'égard du peuple, et ils dirent: Qu'est-ce que nous avons fait, que nous ayons laissé aller Israël, en sorte qu'il ne nous serve plus?

 And it was told [5046] the king [4428] of Egypt [4714] that the people [5971] fled: [1272] and the heart [3824] of Pharaoh [6547] and of his servants [5650] was turned [2015] against the people, [5971] and they said, [0559] Why have we done [6213] this, that we have let Israel [3478] go [7971] from serving [5647] us?

 Alors il attela son char et il prit son peuple avec lui.

 And he made ready [0631] his chariot, [7393] and took [3947] his people [5971] with him:

 Il prit six cents chars d'élite et tous les chars d'Égypte, et des combattants sur chacun d'eux.

 And he took [3947] six [8337] hundred [3967] chosen [0977] chariots, [7393] and all the chariots [7393] of Egypt, [4714] and captains [7991] over every one of them.

 Et YEHOVAH endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, et il poursuivit les enfants d'Israël. Or les enfants d'Israël étaient sortis à main levée.

 And the LORD [3068] hardened [2388] the heart [3820] of Pharaoh [6547] king [4428] of Egypt, [4714] and he pursued [7291] after [0310] the children [1121] of Israel: [3478] and the children [1121] of Israel [3478] went out [3318] with an high [7311] hand. [3027]

 Les Égyptiens les poursuivirent; et tous les chevaux des chars de Pharaon, ses cavaliers et son armée les atteignirent, comme ils étaient campés près de la mer, près de Pi-Hahiroth, vis-à-vis de Baal-Tsephon.

 But the Egyptians [4714] pursued [7291] after [0310] them, all the horses [5483] [and] chariots [7393] of Pharaoh, [6547] and his horsemen, [6571] and his army, [2428] and overtook [5381] them encamping [2583] by the sea, [3220] beside Pihahiroth, [6367] before [6440] Baalzephon. [1189]

 Et comme Pharaon approchait, les enfants d'Israël levèrent les yeux, et voici, les Égyptiens marchaient après eux. Alors les enfants d'Israël eurent une fort grande peur, et crièrent à YEHOVAH.

 And when Pharaoh [6547] drew nigh, [7126] the children [1121] of Israel [3478] lifted up [5375] their eyes, [5869] and, behold, the Egyptians [4714] marched [5265] after [0310] them; and they were sore [3966] afraid: [3372] and the children [1121] of Israel [3478] cried out [6817] unto the LORD. [3068]

 Et ils dirent à Moïse: Est-ce qu'il n'y avait pas de tombeaux en Égypte, que tu nous aies emmenés pour mourir au désert? Qu'est-ce que tu nous a fait, de nous faire sortir d'Égypte?

 And they said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Because [there were] no graves [6913] in Egypt, [4714] hast thou taken us away [3947] to die [4191] in the wilderness? [4057] wherefore hast thou dealt [6213] thus [2063] with us, to carry us forth [3318] out of Egypt? [4714]

 N'est-ce pas ce que nous te disions en Égypte: Laisse-nous servir les Égyptiens; car il nous vaut mieux servir les Égyptiens, que de mourir au désert?

 [Is] not this the word [1697] that we did tell [1696] thee in Egypt, [4714] saying, [0559] Let us alone, [2308] that we may serve [5647] the Egyptians? [4714] For [it had been] better [2896] for us to serve [5647] the Egyptians, [4714] than that we should die [4191] in the wilderness. [4057]

 Et Moïse dit au peuple: Ne craignez point; tenez-vous là, et voyez la délivrance de YEHOVAH, qu'il vous accordera aujourd'hui; car les Égyptiens que vous avez vus aujourd'hui, vous ne les reverrez jamais plus.

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto the people, [5971] Fear [3372] ye not, stand still, [3320] and see [7200] the salvation [3444] of the LORD, [3068] which he will shew [6213] to you to day: [3117] for the Egyptians [4714] whom ye have seen [7200] to day, [3117] ye shall see [7200] them again [3254] no more for [5704] ever. [5769]

 YEHOVAH combattra pour vous, et vous, vous resterez tranquilles.

 The LORD [3068] shall fight [3898] for you, and ye shall hold your peace. [2790]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Pourquoi cries-tu à moi? Parle aux enfants d'Israël, et qu'ils marchent.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Wherefore criest [6817] thou unto me? speak [1696] unto the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] that they go forward: [5265]

 Et toi, élève ta verge, et étends ta main sur la mer, et fends-la; et que les enfants d'Israël entrent au milieu de la mer, à sec.

 But lift thou up [7311] thy rod, [4294] and stretch out [5186] thine hand [3027] over the sea, [3220] and divide [1234] it: and the children [1121] of Israel [3478] shall go [0935] on dry [3004] [ground] through the midst [8432] of the sea. [3220]

 Et moi, voici, je vais endurcir le cœur des Égyptiens, et ils y entreront après eux; et je serai glorifié en Pharaon et en toute son armée, en ses chars et en ses cavaliers.

 And I, behold, I will harden [2388] the hearts [3820] of the Egyptians, [4714] and they shall follow [0935] [0310] them: and I will get me honour [3513] upon Pharaoh, [6547] and upon all his host, [2428] upon his chariots, [7393] and upon his horsemen. [6571]

 Et les Égyptiens sauront que JE SUIS YEHOVAH, quand je serai glorifié en Pharaon, en ses chars et en ses cavaliers.

 And the Egyptians [4714] shall know [3045] that I [am] the LORD, [3068] when I have gotten me honour [3513] upon Pharaoh, [6547] upon his chariots, [7393] and upon his horsemen. [6571]

 Et l'ange de Dieu, qui allait devant le camp d'Israël, partit et alla derrière eux; et la colonne de nuée partit de devant eux, et se tint derrière eux;

 And the angel [4397] of God, [0430] which went [1980] before [6440] the camp [4264] of Israel, [3478] removed [5265] and went [3212] behind [0310] them; and the pillar [5982] of the cloud [6051] went [5265] from before their face, [6440] and stood [5975] behind [0310] them:

 Et elle vint entre le camp des Égyptiens et le camp d'Israël. Et elle fut d'un côté une nuée obscure; mais, de l'autre, elle éclairait la nuit; et ils ne s'approchèrent point les uns des autres de toute la nuit.

 And it came [0935] between the camp [4264] of the Egyptians [4714] and the camp [4264] of Israel; [3478] and it was a cloud [6051] and darkness [2822] [to them], but it gave light [0215] by night [3915] [to these]: so that the one [2088] came not near [7126] the other [2088] all the night. [3915]

 Or, Moïse étendit la main sur la mer, et YEHOVAH refoula la mer, toute la nuit, par un fort vent d'Orient; et il mit la mer à sec, et les eaux se fendirent.

 And Moses [4872] stretched out [5186] his hand [3027] over the sea; [3220] and the LORD [3068] caused the sea [3220] to go [3212] [back] by a strong [5794] east [6921] wind [7307] all that night, [3915] and made [7760] the sea [3220] dry [2724] [land], and the waters [4325] were divided. [1234]

 Et les enfants d'Israël entrèrent au milieu de la mer à sec; et les eaux leur formaient une muraille à leur droite et à leur gauche.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] went [0935] into the midst [8432] of the sea [3220] upon the dry [3004] [ground]: and the waters [4325] [were] a wall [2346] unto them on their right hand, [3225] and on their left. [8040]

 Et les Égyptiens les poursuivirent; et tous les chevaux de Pharaon, ses chars et ses cavaliers, entrèrent après eux au milieu de la mer.

 And the Egyptians [4714] pursued, [7291] and went in [0935] after [0310] them to the midst [8432] of the sea, [3220] [even] all Pharaoh's [6547] horses, [5483] his chariots, [7393] and his horsemen. [6571]

 Mais il arriva, sur la veille du matin, que YEHOVAH, étant dans la colonne de feu et de nuée, regarda le camp des Égyptiens, et le mit en désordre.

 And it came to pass, that in the morning [1242] watch [0821] the LORD [3068] looked [8259] unto the host [4264] of the Egyptians [4714] through the pillar [5982] of fire [0784] and of the cloud, [6051] and troubled [2000] the host [4264] of the Egyptians, [4714]

 Et il ôta les roues de leurs chars, et fit qu'on les menait pesamment. Alors les Égyptiens dirent: Fuyons de devant les Israélites, car YEHOVAH combat pour eux contre les Égyptiens.

 And took off [5493] their chariot [4818] wheels, [0212] that they drave [5090] them heavily: [3517] so that the Egyptians [4714] said, [0559] Let us flee [5127] from the face [6440] of Israel; [3478] for the LORD [3068] fighteth [3898] for them against the Egyptians. [4714]

 Et YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Étends ta main sur la mer, et les eaux retourneront sur les Égyptiens, sur leurs chars et sur leurs cavaliers.

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] Stretch out [5186] thine hand [3027] over the sea, [3220] that the waters [4325] may come again [7725] upon the Egyptians, [4714] upon their chariots, [7393] and upon their horsemen. [6571]

 Moïse étendit donc sa main sur la mer, et la mer retourna vers le matin dans son lit; et les Égyptiens s'enfuyant la rencontrèrent, et YEHOVAH immergea les Égyptiens au milieu de la mer.

 And Moses [4872] stretched forth [5186] his hand [3027] over the sea, [3220] and the sea [3220] returned [7725] to his strength [0386] when the morning [1242] appeared; [6437] and the Egyptians [4714] fled [5127] against [7125] it; and the LORD [3068] overthrew [5287] the Egyptians [4714] in the midst [8432] of the sea. [3220]

 Les eaux retournèrent donc et couvrirent les chars et les cavaliers de toute l'armée de Pharaon, qui étaient entrés après les Israélites dans la mer; il n'en resta pas un seul.

 And the waters [4325] returned, [7725] and covered [3680] the chariots, [7393] and the horsemen, [6571] [and] all the host [2428] of Pharaoh [6547] that came [0935] into the sea [3220] after [0310] them; there remained [7604] not so much as [5704] one [0259] of them.

 Mais les enfants d'Israël marchèrent à sec au milieu de la mer; et les eaux leur formaient une muraille à leur droite et à leur gauche.

 But the children [1121] of Israel [3478] walked [1980] upon dry [3004] [land] in the midst [8432] of the sea; [3220] and the waters [4325] [were] a wall [2346] unto them on their right hand, [3225] and on their left. [8040]

 En ce jour-là YEHOVAH délivra Israël de la main des Égyptiens; et Israël vit les Égyptiens morts, sur le rivage de la mer.

 Thus the LORD [3068] saved [3467] Israel [3478] that day [3117] out of the hand [3027] of the Egyptians; [4714] and Israel [3478] saw [7200] the Egyptians [4714] dead [4191] upon the sea [3220] shore. [8193]

 Ainsi Israël vit la grande puissance que YEHOVAH avait déployée contre les Égyptiens; et le peuple craignit YEHOVAH, et ils crurent en YEHOVAH et en Moïse, son serviteur.

 And Israel [3478] saw [7200] that great [1419] work [3027] which the LORD [3068] did [6213] upon the Egyptians: [4714] and the people [5971] feared [3372] the LORD, [3068] and believed [0539] the LORD, [3068] and his servant [5650] Moses. [4872]

 Alors Moïse et les enfants d'Israël chantèrent ce cantique à YEHOVAH, et ils dirent: Je chanterai à YEHOVAH, car il s'est hautement élevé. Il a immergé dans la mer le cheval et son cavalier.

 Then sang [7891] Moses [4872] and the children [1121] of Israel [3478] this song [7892] unto the LORD, [3068] and spake, [0559] saying, [0559] I will sing [7891] unto the LORD, [3068] for he hath triumphed [1342] gloriously: [1342] the horse [5483] and his rider [7392] hath he thrown [7411] into the sea. [3220]

 YEHOVAH est ma force et ma louange: il a été mon libérateur. Il est mon Dieu, je le glorifierai; il est le Dieu de mon père, je l'exalterai.

 The LORD [3050] [is] my strength [5797] and song, [2176] and he is become my salvation: [3444] he [2088] [is] my God, [0410] and I will prepare him an habitation; [5115] my father's [0001] God, [0430] and I will exalt [7311] him.

 YEHOVAH est un vaillant guerrier; son nom est YEHOVAH.

 The LORD [3068] [is] a man [0376] of war: [4421] the LORD [3068] [is] his name. [8034]

 Il a immergé dans la mer les chars de Pharaon et son armée; et l'élite de ses combattants a été plongée dans la mer Rouge.

 Pharaoh's [6547] chariots [4818] and his host [2428] hath he cast [3384] into the sea: [3220] his chosen [4005] captains [7991] also are drowned [2883] in the Red [5488] sea. [3220]

 Les flots les ont couverts; ils sont descendus au fond des eaux, comme une pierre.

 The depths [8415] have covered [3680] them: they sank [3381] into the bottom [4688] as [3644] a stone. [0068]

 Ta droite, ô YEHOVAH, est magnifique en force. Ta droite, ô YEHOVAH, écrase l'ennemi.

 Thy right hand, [3225] O LORD, [3068] is become glorious [0142] in power: [3581] thy right hand, [3225] O LORD, [3068] hath dashed in pieces [7492] the enemy. [0341]

 Par la grandeur de ta majesté, tu renverses tes adversaires. Tu envoies ta colère, elle les consume comme le chaume.

 And in the greatness [7230] of thine excellency [1347] thou hast overthrown [2040] them that rose up against [6965] thee: thou sentest forth [7971] thy wrath, [2740] [which] consumed [0398] them as stubble. [7179]

 Au souffle de tes narines les eaux se sont amoncelées; les courants se sont arrêtés comme une digue; les flots ont gelé au cœur de la mer.

 And with the blast [7307] of thy nostrils [0639] the waters [4325] were gathered together, [6192] the floods [5140] stood upright [5324] as an heap, [5067] [and] the depths [8415] were congealed [7087] in the heart [3820] of the sea. [3220]

 L'ennemi avait dit: Je poursuivrai, j'atteindrai, je partagerai le butin; mon âme s'assouvira sur eux, je tirerai l'épée, ma main les détruira.

 The enemy [0341] said, [0559] I will pursue, [7291] I will overtake, [5381] I will divide [2505] the spoil; [7998] my lust [5315] shall be satisfied [4390] upon them; I will draw [7324] my sword, [2719] my hand [3027] shall destroy [3423] them.

 Tu as soufflé de ton haleine: la mer les a couverts; ils se sont enfoncés comme le plomb, au fond des eaux puissantes.

 Thou didst blow [5398] with thy wind, [7307] the sea [3220] covered [3680] them: they sank [6749] as lead [5777] in the mighty [0117] waters. [4325]

 Qui est comme toi, parmi les dieux, ô YEHOVAH? Qui est comme toi magnifique en sainteté, redoutable dans les louanges, opérant des merveilles?

 Who [is] like unto thee, O LORD, [3068] among the gods? [0410] who [is] like thee, glorious [0142] in holiness, [6944] fearful [3372] [in] praises, [8416] doing [6213] wonders? [6382]

 Tu as étendu ta droite; la terre les engloutit.

 Thou stretchedst out [5186] thy right hand, [3225] the earth [0776] swallowed [1104] them.

 Tu as conduit par ta GRÂCE le peuple dont tu t'es fait le RÉDEMPTEUR; tu l'as dirigé par ta force vers ta sainte demeure.

 Thou in thy mercy [2617] hast led forth [5148] the people [5971] [which] [2098] thou hast redeemed: [1350] thou hast guided [5095] [them] in thy strength [5797] unto thy holy [6944] habitation. [5116]

 Les peuples l'entendent, et ils tremblent; l'effroi saisit les habitants de la Palestine.

 The people [5971] shall hear, [8085] [and] be afraid: [7264] sorrow [2427] shall take hold [0270] on the inhabitants [3427] of Palestina. [6429]

 Alors les princes d'Édom sont troublés; le tremblement saisit les puissants de Moab; tous les habitants de Canaan désespèrent.

 Then [0227] the dukes [0441] of Edom [0123] shall be amazed; [0926] the mighty men [0352] of Moab, [4124] trembling [7461] shall take hold upon them; [0270] all the inhabitants [3427] of Canaan [3667] shall melt away. [4127]

 La frayeur et l'épouvante tomberont sur eux; par la grandeur de ton bras, ils deviendront muets comme la pierre, jusqu'à ce que ton peuple, ô YEHOVAH, ait passé; jusqu'à ce qu'il ait passé, le peuple que tu as acquis.

 Fear [0367] and dread [6343] shall fall [5307] upon them; by the greatness [1419] of thine arm [2220] they shall be [as] still [1826] as a stone; [0068] till thy people [5971] pass over, [5674] O LORD, [3068] till the people [5971] pass over, [5674] [which] [2098] thou hast purchased. [7069]

 Tu les introduiras et tu les planteras sur la montagne de ton héritage, au lieu que tu as préparé pour ta demeure, ô YEHOVAH, au sanctuaire, Seigneur, que tes mains ont établi.

 Thou shalt bring them in, [0935] and plant [5193] them in the mountain [2022] of thine inheritance, [5159] [in] the place, [4349] O LORD, [3068] [which] thou hast made [6466] for thee to dwell in, [3427] [in] the Sanctuary, [4720] O Lord, [0136] [which] thy hands [3027] have established. [3559]

 YEHOVAH régnera éternellement et à toujours.

 The LORD [3068] shall reign [4427] for ever [5769] and ever. [5703]

 Car les chevaux de Pharaon, avec ses chars et ses cavaliers, sont entrés dans la mer; et YEHOVAH a fait retourner sur eux les eaux de la mer; mais les enfants d'Israël ont marché à sec au milieu de la mer.

 For the horse [5483] of Pharaoh [6547] went in [0935] with his chariots [7393] and with his horsemen [6571] into the sea, [3220] and the LORD [3068] brought again [7725] the waters [4325] of the sea [3220] upon them; but the children [1121] of Israel [3478] went [1980] on dry [3004] [land] in the midst [8432] of the sea. [3220]

 Et Marie, la prophétesse, sœur d'Aaron, prit dans sa main le tambourin, et toutes les femmes sortirent après elle, avec des tambourins et en dansant.

 And Miriam [4813] the prophetess, [5031] the sister [0269] of Aaron, [0175] took [3947] a timbrel [8596] in her hand; [3027] and all the women [0802] went out [3318] after [0310] her with timbrels [8596] and with dances. [4246]

 Puis, Moïse fit partir les Israélites de la mer Rouge, et ils tirèrent vers le désert de Shur; et ils marchèrent trois jours dans le désert, et ne trouvèrent point d'eau.

 So Moses [4872] brought [5265] Israel [3478] from the Red [5488] sea, [3220] and they went out [3318] into the wilderness [4057] of Shur; [7793] and they went [3212] three [7969] days [3117] in the wilderness, [4057] and found [4672] no water. [4325]

 Puis ils vinrent à Mara, mais ils ne purent boire des eaux de Mara, car elles étaient amères; c'est pour cela que ce lieu fut appelé Mara (amertume).

 And when they came [0935] to Marah, [4785] they could [3201] not drink [8354] of the waters [4325] of Marah, [4785] for they [were] bitter: [4751] therefore the name [8034] of it was called [7121] Marah. [4785]

 Alors le peuple murmura contre Moïse, en disant: Que boirons-nous?

 And the people [5971] murmured [3885] against Moses, [4872] saying, [0559] What shall we drink? [8354]

 Et Moïse cria à YEHOVAH; et YEHOVAH lui indiqua un bois, qu'il jeta dans les eaux, et les eaux devinrent douces. C'est là qu'il lui imposa une ordonnance et un statut, et c'est là qu'il l'éprouva.

 And he cried [6817] unto the LORD; [3068] and the LORD [3068] shewed [3384] him a tree, [6086] [which] when he had cast [7993] into the waters, [4325] the waters [4325] were made sweet: [4985] there he made [7760] for them a statute [2706] and an ordinance, [4941] and there he proved [5254] them,

 Et il dit: Si tu écoutes attentivement la voix de YEHOVAH ton Dieu, si tu fais ce qui est droit à ses yeux, si tu prêtes l'oreille à ses commandements et si tu gardes toutes ses ordonnances, je ne t'infligerai aucune des maladies que j'ai infligées à l'Égypte; car JE SUIS YEHOVAH qui te guérit.

 And said, [0559] If thou wilt diligently [8085] hearken [8085] to the voice [6963] of the LORD [3068] thy God, [0430] and wilt do [6213] that which is right [3477] in his sight, [5869] and wilt give ear [0238] to his commandments, [4687] and keep [8104] all his statutes, [2706] I will put [7760] none of these diseases [4245] upon thee, which I have brought [7760] upon the Egyptians: [4714] for I [am] the LORD [3068] that healeth [7495] thee.

 Puis ils vinrent à Élim; et là il y avait douze sources d'eau et soixante et dix palmiers; et ils campèrent là, près des eaux.

 And they came [0935] to Elim, [0362] where [were] twelve [8147] [6240] wells [5869] of water, [4325] and threescore and ten [7657] palm trees: [8558] and they encamped [2583] there by the waters. [4325]

 Toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, étant partie d'Élim, vint au désert de Sin, qui est entre Élim et Sinaï, au quinzième jour du second mois, après leur sortie du pays d'Égypte.

 And they took their journey [5265] from Elim, [0362] and all the congregation [5712] of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] came [0935] unto the wilderness [4057] of Sin, [5512] which [is] between Elim [0362] and Sinai, [5514] on the fifteenth [2568] [6240] day [3117] of the second [8145] month [2320] after their departing [3318] out of the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël murmura dans ce désert contre Moïse et contre Aaron.

 And the whole congregation [5712] of the children [1121] of Israel [3478] murmured [3885] against Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] in the wilderness: [4057]

 Et les enfants d'Israël leur dirent: Ah! que ne sommes-nous morts par la main de YEHOVAH au pays d'Égypte, quand nous étions assis près des potées de viande, quand nous mangions du pain à satiété! Car vous nous avez amenés dans ce désert, pour faire mourir de faim toute cette assemblée.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] said [0559] unto them, Would to God [4310] [5414] we had died [4191] by the hand [3027] of the LORD [3068] in the land [0776] of Egypt, [4714] when we sat [3427] by the flesh [1320] pots, [5518] [and] when we did eat [0398] bread [3899] to the full; [7648] for ye have brought us forth [3318] into this wilderness, [4057] to kill [4191] this whole assembly [6951] with hunger. [7458]

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Voici, je vais vous faire pleuvoir des cieux du pain, et le peuple sortira, et ils en recueilleront chaque jour ce qu'il faut pour la journée, afin que je l'éprouve, pour voir s'il marchera, ou non, dans ma loi.

 Then said [0559] the LORD [3068] unto Moses, [4872] Behold, I will rain [4305] bread [3899] from heaven [8064] for you; and the people [5971] shall go out [3318] and gather [3950] a certain rate [1697] every day, [3117] [3117] that I may prove [5254] them, whether they will walk [3212] in my law, [8451] or no.

 Mais, le sixième jour, ils apprêteront ce qu'ils auront apporté, et il y en aura le double de ce qu'ils recueilleront chaque jour.

 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth [8345] day [3117] they shall prepare [3559] [that] which they bring in; [0935] and it shall be twice [4932] as much as [0834] they gather [3950] daily. [3117] [3117]

 Moïse et Aaron dirent donc à tous les enfants d'Israël: Ce soir vous saurez que c'est YEHOVAH qui vous a retirés du pays d'Égypte;

 And Moses [4872] and Aaron [0175] said [0559] unto all the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] At even, [6153] then ye shall know [3045] that the LORD [3068] hath brought you out [3318] from the land [0776] of Egypt: [4714]

 Et au matin vous verrez la gloire de YEHOVAH, parce qu'il a entendu vos murmures contre YEHOVAH. Que sommes-nous, en effet, pour que vous murmuriez contre nous?

 And in the morning, [1242] then ye shall see [7200] the glory [3519] of the LORD; [3068] for that he heareth [8085] your murmurings [8519] against the LORD: [3068] and what [are] we, [5168] that ye murmur [3885] against us?

 Et Moïse dit: Ce sera quand YEHOVAH vous donnera ce soir de la chair à manger, et au matin du pain en abondance; parce que YEHOVAH a entendu vos murmures, que vous élevez contre lui. Que sommes-nous en effet? Vos murmures ne sont pas contre nous, mais contre YEHOVAH.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] [This shall be], when the LORD [3068] shall give [5414] you in the evening [6153] flesh [1320] to eat, [0398] and in the morning [1242] bread [3899] to the full; [7646] for that the LORD [3068] heareth [8085] your murmurings [8519] which ye murmur [3885] against him: and what [are] we? [5168] your murmurings [8519] [are] not against us, but against the LORD. [3068]

 Et Moïse dit à Aaron: Dis à toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël: Approchez-vous devant YEHOVAH, car il a entendu vos murmures.

 And Moses [4872] spake [0559] unto Aaron, [0175] Say [0559] unto all the congregation [5712] of the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] Come near [7126] before [6440] the LORD: [3068] for he hath heard [8085] your murmurings. [8519]

 Et comme Aaron parlait à toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, ils se tournèrent vers le désert, et voici, la gloire de YEHOVAH se montra dans la nuée;

 And it came to pass, as Aaron [0175] spake [1696] unto the whole congregation [5712] of the children [1121] of Israel, [3478] that they looked [6437] toward the wilderness, [4057] and, behold, the glory [3519] of the LORD [3068] appeared [7200] in the cloud. [6051]

 Et YEHOVAH parla à Moïse, en disant:

 And the LORD [3068] spake [1696] unto Moses, [4872] saying, [0559]

 J'ai entendu les murmures des enfants d'Israël. Parle-leur, et dis-leur: Entre les deux soirs vous mangerez de la chair, et au matin vous vous rassasierez de pain, et vous saurez que JE SUIS YEHOVAH votre Dieu.

 I have heard [8085] the murmurings [8519] of the children [1121] of Israel: [3478] speak [1696] unto them, saying, [0559] At [0996] even [6153] ye shall eat [0398] flesh, [1320] and in the morning [1242] ye shall be filled [7646] with bread; [3899] and ye shall know [3045] that I [am] the LORD [3068] your God. [0430]

 Le soir donc les cailles montèrent et couvrirent le camp, et au matin il y eut une couche de rosée à l'entour du camp.

 And it came to pass, that at even [6153] the quails [7958] came up, [5927] and covered [3680] the camp: [4264] and in the morning [1242] the dew [2919] lay [7902] round about [5439] the host. [4264]

 Et la couche de rosée s'évanouit, et voici il y avait sur la surface du désert une chose menue, perlée, menue comme le givre sur la terre.

 And when the dew [2919] that lay [7902] was gone up, [5927] behold, upon the face [6440] of the wilderness [4057] [there lay] a small [1851] round thing, [2636] [as] small [1851] as the hoar frost [3713] on the ground. [0776]

 Quand les enfants d'Israël la virent, ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Qu'est cela? car ils ne savaient ce que c'était. Et Moïse leur dit: C'est le pain que YEHOVAH vous a donné à manger.

 And when the children [1121] of Israel [3478] saw [7200] [it], they said [0559] one [0376] to another, [0251] It [is] manna: [4478] for they wist [3045] not what it [was]. And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto them, This [is] the bread [3899] which the LORD [3068] hath given [5414] you to eat. [0402]

 Voici ce que YEHOVAH a commandé: Recueillez-en chacun en proportion de ce qu'il mange, un homer par tête, selon le nombre de vos personnes; vous en prendrez chacun pour ceux qui sont dans sa tente.

 This [is] the thing [1697] which the LORD [3068] hath commanded, [6680] Gather [3950] of it every man [0376] according [6310] to his eating, [0400] an omer [6016] for every man, [1538] [according to] the number [4557] of your persons; [5315] take [3947] ye every man [0376] for [them] which [0834] [are] in his tents. [0168]

 Les enfants d'Israël firent donc ainsi; et ils recueillirent, l'un plus et l'autre moins.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] did [6213] so, and gathered, [3950] some more, [7235] some less. [4591]

 Et ils le mesurèrent par homer; et celui qui en recueillait beaucoup, n'en eut pas trop, et celui qui en recueillait peu, n'en manqua pas; ils en recueillirent chacun en proportion de ce qu'il mangeait.

 And when they did mete [4058] [it] with an omer, [6016] he that gathered much [7235] had nothing over, [5736] and he that gathered little [4591] had no lack; [2637] they gathered [3950] every man [0376] according [6310] to his eating. [0400]

 Et Moïse leur dit: Que personne n'en laisse de reste jusqu'au matin.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] Let no man [0376] leave [3498] of it till the morning. [1242]

 Mais ils n'obéirent point à Moïse, et quelques-uns en laissèrent jusqu'au matin, et il s'y engendra des vers et une mauvaise odeur; et Moïse se mit en colère contre eux.

 Notwithstanding they hearkened [8085] not unto Moses; [4872] but some of them [0582] left [3498] of it until the morning, [1242] and it bred [7311] worms, [8438] and stank: [0887] and Moses [4872] was wroth [7107] with them.

 Ils en recueillirent donc tous les matins, chacun en proportion de ce qu'il mangeait; et lorsque le soleil était chaud, cela fondait.

 And they gathered [3950] it every morning, [1242] [1242] every man [0376] according [6310] to his eating: [0400] and when the sun [8121] waxed hot, [2552] it melted. [4549]

 Et le sixième jour, ils recueillirent du pain au double, deux homers pour chacun. Et tous les principaux de l'assemblée vinrent le rapporter à Moïse.

 And it came to pass, [that] on the sixth [8345] day [3117] they gathered [3950] twice as much [4932] bread, [3899] two [8147] omers [6016] for one [0259] [man]: and all the rulers [5387] of the congregation [5712] came [0935] and told [5046] Moses. [4872]

 Et il leur répondit: C'est ce que YEHOVAH a dit: Demain est le repos, le sabbat consacré à YEHOVAH; faites cuire ce que vous avez à cuire, et faites bouillir ce que vous avez à bouillir, et serrez tout le surplus, pour le garder jusqu'au matin.

 And he said [0559] unto them, This [is that] which the LORD [3068] hath said, [1696] To morrow [4279] [is] the rest [7677] of the holy [6944] sabbath [7676] unto the LORD: [3068] bake [0644] [that] which ye will bake [0644] [to day], and seethe [1310] that ye will seethe; [1310] and [3605] that which remaineth [5736] over lay up [3240] for you to be kept [4931] until the morning. [1242]

 Ils le serrèrent donc jusqu'au matin, comme Moïse l'avait commandé, et il ne sentit point mauvais, et il n'y eut point de vers.

 And they laid it up [3240] till the morning, [1242] as Moses [4872] bade: [6680] and it did not stink, [0887] neither was there any worm [7415] therein.

 Alors Moïse dit: Mangez-le aujourd'hui; car c'est aujourd'hui le sabbat de YEHOVAH; aujourd'hui vous n'en trouverez point dans les champs.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] Eat [0398] that to day; [3117] for to day [3117] [is] a sabbath [7676] unto the LORD: [3068] to day [3117] ye shall not find [4672] it in the field. [7704]

 Pendant six jours vous le recueillerez, mais au septième jour, qui est le sabbat, il n'y en aura point.

 Six [8337] days [3117] ye shall gather [3950] it; but on the seventh [7637] day, [3117] [which is] the sabbath, [7676] in it there shall be none.

 Et le septième jour, quelques-uns du peuple sortirent pour en recueillir; mais ils n'en trouvèrent point.

 And it came to pass, [that] there went out [3318] [some] of the people [5971] on the seventh [7637] day [3117] for to gather, [3950] and they found [4672] none.

 Alors YEHOVAH dit à Moïse: Jusqu'à quand refuserez-vous de garder mes commandements et mes lois?

 And the LORD [3068] said [0559] unto Moses, [4872] How long refuse [3985] ye to keep [8104] my commandments [4687] and my laws? [8451]

 Considérez que YEHOVAH vous a donné le sabbat, c'est pourquoi il vous donne au sixième jour du pain pour deux jours; que chacun demeure à sa place, et que personne ne sorte de son lieu le septième jour.

 See, [7200] for that the LORD [3068] hath given [5414] you the sabbath, [7676] therefore he giveth [5414] you on the sixth [8345] day [3117] the bread [3899] of two days; [3117] abide [3427] ye every man [0376] in his place, let no man [0376] go out [3318] of his place [4725] on the seventh [7637] day. [3117]

 Le peuple se reposa donc le septième jour.

 So the people [5971] rested [7673] on the seventh [7637] day. [3117]

 Et la maison d'Israël nomma cette nourriture, manne; elle était comme de la semence de coriandre, blanche, et avait le goût de beignets au miel.

 And the house [1004] of Israel [3478] called [7121] the name [8034] thereof Manna: [4478] and it [was] like coriander [1407] seed, [2233] white; [3836] and the taste [2940] of it [was] like wafers [6838] [made] with honey. [1706]

 Et Moïse dit: Voici ce que YEHOVAH a commandé: Qu'on en remplisse un homer, pour le garder d'âge en âge, afin qu'on voie le pain que je vous ai fait manger au désert, quand je vous ai retirés du pays d'Égypte.

 And Moses [4872] said, [0559] This [is] the thing [1697] which the LORD [3068] commandeth, [6680] Fill [4393] an omer [6016] of it to be kept [4931] for your generations; [1755] that they may see [7200] the bread [3899] wherewith I have fed [0398] you in the wilderness, [4057] when I brought you forth [3318] from the land [0776] of Egypt. [4714]

 Et Moïse dit à Aaron: Prends un vase, et mets-y un plein homer de manne, et dépose-le devant YEHOVAH, pour être gardé d'âge en âge.

 And Moses [4872] said [0559] unto Aaron, [0175] Take [3947] a [0259] pot, [6803] and put [5414] an omer [6016] full [4393] of manna [4478] therein, and lay it up [3240] before [6440] the LORD, [3068] to be kept [4931] for your generations. [1755]

 Comme le Seigneur l'avait commandé à Moïse, Aaron le déposa devant le Témoignage, pour qu'il fût gardé.

 As the LORD [3068] commanded [6680] Moses, [4872] so Aaron [0175] laid it up [3240] before [6440] the Testimony, [5715] to be kept. [4931]

 Et les enfants d'Israël mangèrent la manne quarante ans, jusqu'à ce qu'ils fussent venus dans un pays habité; ils mangèrent la manne, jusqu'à ce qu'ils fussent venus à la frontière du pays de Canaan.

 And the children [1121] of Israel [3478] did eat [0398] manna [4478] forty [0705] years, [8141] until they came [0935] to a land [0776] inhabited; [3427] they did eat [0398] manna, [4478] until they came [0935] unto the borders [7097] of the land [0776] of Canaan. [3667]
