Prophétie. Parole de YEHOVAH adressée à Israël par Malachie.

 The burden [4853] of the word [1697] of the LORD [3068] to Israel [3478] by [3027] Malachi. [4401]

 Je vous ai aimés, a dit YEHOVAH, et vous dites: "En quoi nous as-tu aimés?" Ésaü n'était-il pas frère de Jacob? dit YEHOVAH; cependant j'ai aimé Jacob,

 I have loved [0157] you, saith [0559] the LORD. [3068] Yet ye say, [0559] Wherein hast thou loved [0157] us? [Was] not Esau [6215] Jacob's [3290] brother? [0251] saith [5002] the LORD: [3068] yet I loved [0157] Jacob, [3290]

 Et j'ai haï Ésaü; et j'ai fait de ses montagnes une solitude, et j'ai livré son héritage aux chacals du désert.

 And I hated [8130] Esau, [6215] and laid [7760] his mountains [2022] and his heritage [5159] waste [8077] for the dragons [8568] of the wilderness. [4057]

 Si Édom dit: "Nous sommes détruits, mais nous rebâtirons les ruines!" ainsi a dit YEHOVAH des armées: Ils bâtiront, mais je renverserai; et on les appellera: pays de la méchanceté, peuple contre lequel YEHOVAH est irrité à toujours.

 Whereas Edom [0123] saith, [0559] We are impoverished, [7567] but we will return [7725] and build [1129] the desolate places; [2723] thus saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts, [6635] They shall build, [1129] but I will throw down; [2040] and they shall call [7121] them, The border [1366] of wickedness, [7564] and, The people [5971] against whom the LORD [3068] hath indignation [2194] for [5704] ever. [5769]

 Vos yeux le verront, et vous direz: YEHOVAH est grand sur le territoire d'Israël!

 And your eyes [5869] shall see, [7200] and ye shall say, [0559] The LORD [3068] will be magnified [1431] from the border [1366] of Israel. [3478]

 Un fils honore son père, et un serviteur son maître; si JE SUIS Père, où est l'honneur qui m'appartient, et si JE SUIS Maître, où est la crainte qu'on a de moi, dit YEHOVAH des armées à vous, sacrificateurs, qui méprisez mon nom? Et vous dites: "En quoi méprisons-nous ton nom?"

 A son [1121] honoureth [3513] [his] father, [0001] and a servant [5650] his master: [0113] if then I [be] a father, [0001] where [is] mine honour? [3519] and if I [be] a master, [0113] where [is] my fear? [4172] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts [6635] unto you, O priests, [3548] that despise [0959] my name. [8034] And ye say, [0559] Wherein have we despised [0959] thy name? [8034]

 Vous offrez sur mon autel un pain souillé, et vous dites: "En quoi t'avons-nous profané?" En ce que vous dites: "La table de YEHOVAH est méprisable."

 Ye offer [5066] polluted [1351] bread [3899] upon mine altar; [4196] and ye say, [0559] Wherein have we polluted [1351] thee? In that ye say, [0559] The table [7979] of the LORD [3068] [is] contemptible. [0959]

 Et quand vous amenez pour le sacrifice une bête aveugle, n'y a-t-il pas de mal? Et quand vous en amenez une boiteuse ou malade, n'y a-t-il pas de mal? Offre-la donc à ton gouverneur! T'en saura-t-il gré, ou te sera-t-il favorable? a dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 And if ye offer [5066] the blind [5787] for sacrifice, [2076] [is it] not evil? [7451] and if ye offer [5066] the lame [6455] and sick, [2470] [is it] not evil? [7451] offer [7126] it now unto thy governor; [6346] will he be pleased [7521] with thee, or accept [5375] thy person? [6440] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Et maintenant implorez donc la face de Dieu, pour qu'il ait pitié de nous! Cela venant de votre main, vous recevra-t-il favorablement? dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 And now, I pray you, beseech [2470] [6440] God [0410] that he will be gracious [2603] unto us: this hath been by your means: [3027] will he regard [5375] your persons? [6440] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Qui est celui d'entre vous qui fermera les portes, afin que vous n'allumiez plus en vain le feu de mon autel? Je ne prends point de plaisir en vous, dit YEHOVAH des armées, et je n'agrée de vos mains aucune offrande.

 Who [is there] even among you that would shut [5462] the doors [1817] [for nought]? neither do ye kindle [0215] [fire] on mine altar [4196] for nought. [2600] I have no pleasure [2656] in you, saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts, [6635] neither will I accept [7521] an offering [4503] at your hand. [3027]

 Car, depuis le soleil levant jusqu'au soleil couchant, mon nom est grand parmi les nations, et en tout lieu on brûle de l'encens, et une offrande pure est offerte à mon nom. Car mon nom est grand parmi les nations, a dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 For from the rising [4217] of the sun [8121] even unto the going down [3996] of the same my name [8034] [shall be] great [1419] among the Gentiles; [1471] and in every place [4725] incense [6999] [shall be] offered [5066] unto my name, [8034] and a pure [2889] offering: [4503] for my name [8034] [shall be] great [1419] among the heathen, [1471] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Mais vous le profanez quand vous dites: "La table de YEHOVAH est souillée, et ce qu'elle rapporte est un aliment méprisable."

 But ye have profaned [2490] it, in that ye say, [0559] The table [7979] of the LORD [3068] [is] polluted; [1351] and the fruit [5108] thereof, [even] his meat, [0400] [is] contemptible. [0959]

 Vous dites: "Quelle fatigue!" et vous la dédaignez, dit YEHOVAH des armées, et vous amenez ce qui a été dérobé, ce qui est boiteux et malade; puis vous présentez l'offrande! L'agréerai-je de vos mains? dit YEHOVAH.

 Ye said [0559] also, Behold, what a weariness [4972] [is it]! and ye have snuffed [5301] at it, saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts; [6635] and ye brought [0935] [that which was] torn, [1497] and the lame, [6455] and the sick; [2470] thus ye brought [0935] an offering: [4503] should I accept [7521] this of your hand? [3027] saith [0559] the LORD. [3068]

 Le trompeur est maudit, qui, ayant un mâle dans son troupeau, voue et sacrifie au Seigneur une femelle défectueuse! Car JE SUIS UN GRAND ROI, dit YEHOVAH des armées, mon nom est craint parmi les nations.

 But cursed [0779] [be] the deceiver, [5230] which hath [3426] in his flock [5739] a male, [2145] and voweth, [5087] and sacrificeth [2076] unto the Lord [0136] a corrupt thing: [7843] for I [am] a great [1419] King, [4428] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts, [6635] and my name [8034] [is] dreadful [3372] among the heathen. [1471]

 Maintenant c'est à vous, sacrificateurs, que s'adresse ce commandement.

 And now, O ye priests, [3548] this commandment [4687] [is] for you.

 Si vous n'écoutez pas, et si vous ne prenez pas à cœur de donner gloire à mon nom, a dit YEHOVAH des armées, j'enverrai sur vous la malédiction, et je maudirai vos bénédictions. Oui, je les maudirai, parce que vous ne le prenez point à cœur.

 If ye will not hear, [8085] and if ye will not lay [7760] [it] to heart, [3820] to give [5414] glory [3519] unto my name, [8034] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts, [6635] I will even send [7971] a curse [3994] upon you, and I will curse [0779] your blessings: [1293] yea, I have cursed [0779] them already, because ye do not lay [7760] [it] to heart. [3820]

 Voici, je détruirai vos semences, et je répandrai sur vos visages de la fiente, la fiente de vos victimes de fêtes; et on vous emportera avec elle.

 Behold, I will corrupt [1605] your seed, [2233] and spread [2219] dung [6569] upon your faces, [6440] [even] the dung [6569] of your solemn feasts; [2282] and [one] shall take [5375] you away with it.

 Et vous saurez que je vous ai envoyé ce commandement, afin qu'il soit mon alliance avec Lévi, dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 And ye shall know [3045] that I have sent [7971] this commandment [4687] unto you, that my covenant [1285] might be with Levi, [3878] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Mon alliance avec lui était la vie et la paix, et je les lui donnai pour qu'il eût de la crainte; et il me craignit, et il trembla devant mon nom.

 My covenant [1285] was with him of life [2416] and peace; [7965] and I gave [5414] them to him [for] the fear [4172] wherewith he feared [3372] me, and was afraid [2865] before [6440] my name. [8034]

 La loi de vérité était dans sa bouche, et il ne s'est point trouvé de perversité sur ses lèvres. Il a marché avec moi dans la paix et dans la droiture, et il en a détourné plusieurs de l'iniquité.

 The law [8451] of truth [0571] was in his mouth, [6310] and iniquity [5766] was not found [4672] in his lips: [8193] he walked [1980] with me in peace [7965] and equity, [4334] and did turn many [7227] away [7725] from iniquity. [5771]

 Car les lèvres du sacrificateur doivent garder la science, et de sa bouche on recherche la loi; car il est le messager de YEHOVAH des armées.

 For the priest's [3548] lips [8193] should keep [8104] knowledge, [1847] and they should seek [1245] the law [8451] at his mouth: [6310] for he [is] the messenger [4397] of the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Mais vous, vous vous êtes écartés de cette voie; vous en avez fait broncher plusieurs par votre enseignement; vous avez violé l'alliance de Lévi, dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 But ye are departed [5493] out of the way; [1870] ye have caused many [7227] to stumble [3782] at the law; [8451] ye have corrupted [7843] the covenant [1285] of Levi, [3878] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Et moi aussi, je vous ai rendus méprisables et abjects à tout le peuple, parce que vous ne gardez pas mes voies, et que vous avez égard à l'apparence des personnes en appliquant la loi.

 Therefore have I also made [5414] you contemptible [0959] and base [8217] before all the people, [5971] according [6310] as ye have not kept [8104] my ways, [1870] but have been [5375] partial [6440] in the law. [8451]

 N'avons-nous pas tous un même Père? Un même Dieu ne nous a-t-il pas créés? Pourquoi donc sommes-nous perfides l'un envers l'autre, en profanant l'alliance de nos pères?

 Have we not all one [0259] father? [0001] hath not one [0259] God [0410] created [1254] us? why do we deal treacherously [0898] every man [0376] against his brother, [0251] by profaning [2490] the covenant [1285] of our fathers? [0001]

 Juda agit perfidement, et une abomination est commise en Israël et à Jérusalem; car Juda profane ce qui est consacré à YEHOVAH, ce qu'il aime, et il épouse la fille d'un dieu étranger.

 Judah [3063] hath dealt treacherously, [0898] and an abomination [8441] is committed [6213] in Israel [3478] and in Jerusalem; [3389] for Judah [3063] hath profaned [2490] the holiness [6944] of the LORD [3068] which he loved, [0157] and hath married [1166] the daughter [1323] of a strange [5236] god. [0410]

 YEHOVAH retranchera des tentes de Jacob l'homme qui fait cela, celui qui veille, et celui qui répond, et celui qui présente l'offrande à YEHOVAH des armées.

 The LORD [3068] will cut off [3772] the man [0376] that doeth [6213] this, the master [5782] and the scholar, [6030] out of the tabernacles [0168] of Jacob, [3290] and him that offereth [5066] an offering [4503] unto the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Et voici une seconde chose que vous faites: vous couvrez de larmes l'autel de YEHOVAH, de pleurs et de gémissements, de sorte qu'il ne regarde plus à l'offrande, et ne prend plus plaisir à ce qui vient de vos mains.

 And this have ye done [6213] again, [8145] covering [3680] the altar [4196] of the LORD [3068] with tears, [1832] with weeping, [1065] and with crying out, [0603] insomuch that he regardeth [6437] not the offering [4503] any more, or receiveth [3947] [it] with good will [7522] at your hand. [3027]

 Et vous dites: "Pourquoi?" Parce que YEHOVAH a été témoin entre toi et la femme de ta jeunesse, à laquelle tu es infidèle, bien qu'elle soit ta compagne et la femme de ton alliance.

 Yet ye say, [0559] Wherefore? [4100] Because the LORD [3068] hath been witness [5749] between thee and the wife [0802] of thy youth, [5271] against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: [0898] yet [is] she thy companion, [2278] and the wife [0802] of thy covenant. [1285]

 Personne n'a fait cela, ayant un reste d'esprit. Et pourquoi le seul (Abraham) l'a-t-il fait? Il cherchait une postérité de Dieu. Prenez donc garde à votre esprit, et qu'il n'y ait pas d'infidélité envers la femme de ta jeunesse.

 And did not he make [6213] one? [0259] Yet had he the residue [7605] of the spirit. [7307] And wherefore one? [0259] That he might seek [1245] a godly [0430] seed. [2233] Therefore take heed [8104] to your spirit, [7307] and let none deal treacherously [0898] against the wife [0802] of his youth. [5271]

 Car je hais la répudiation, dit YEHOVAH, le Dieu d'Israël, et celui qui couvre de violence son vêtement, dit YEHOVAH des armées. Prenez donc garde à votre esprit, et ne soyez pas infidèles.

 For the LORD, [3068] the God [0430] of Israel, [3478] saith [0559] that he hateth [8130] putting away: [7971] for [one] covereth [3680] violence [2555] with his garment, [3830] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts: [6635] therefore take heed [8104] to your spirit, [7307] that ye deal not treacherously. [0898]

 Vous fatiguez YEHOVAH par vos paroles, et vous dites: "En quoi le fatiguons-nous?" C'est en disant: Quiconque fait le mal est bon aux yeux de YEHOVAH, et c'est en eux qu'il prend plaisir; ou bien: Où est le Dieu de la justice?

 Ye have wearied [3021] the LORD [3068] with your words. [1697] Yet ye say, [0559] Wherein have we wearied [3021] [him]? When ye say, [0559] Every one that doeth [6213] evil [7451] [is] good [2896] in the sight [5869] of the LORD, [3068] and he delighteth [2654] in them; or, Where [is] the God [0430] of judgment? [4941]

 Voici, je vais envoyer mon messager, et il préparera la voie de ta présence, et soudain entrera dans son temple LE SEIGNEUR que vous cherchez, lui qui est LE MESSAGER DE L'ALLIANCE que vous désirez. Voici, il vient, a dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 Behold, I will send [7971] my messenger, [4397] and he shall prepare [6437] the way [1870] before [6440] me: and the Lord, [0113] whom ye seek, [1245] shall suddenly [6597] come [0935] to his temple, [1964] even the messenger [4397] of the covenant, [1285] whom ye delight [2655] in: behold, he shall come, [0935] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Et qui pourra soutenir le jour de sa venue, et qui pourra subsister quand il paraîtra? Car il sera comme le feu du fondeur, et comme la potasse des foulons.

 But who may abide [3557] the day [3117] of his coming? [0935] and who shall stand [5975] when he appeareth? [7200] for he [is] like a refiner's [6884] fire, [0784] and like fullers' [3526] soap: [1287]

 Il sera assis, fondant et purifiant l'argent; il purifiera les fils de Lévi, et les affinera comme on affine l'or et l'argent; et ils seront à YEHOVAH, et ils présenteront des offrandes dans la justice.

 And he shall sit [3427] [as] a refiner [6884] and purifier [2891] of silver: [3701] and he shall purify [2891] the sons [1121] of Levi, [3878] and purge [2212] them as gold [2091] and silver, [3701] that they may offer [5066] unto the LORD [3068] an offering [4503] in righteousness. [6666]

 Alors l'offrande de Juda et de Jérusalem sera agréable à YEHOVAH comme aux jours anciens, comme aux années d'autrefois.

 Then shall the offering [4503] of Judah [3063] and Jerusalem [3389] be pleasant [6149] unto the LORD, [3068] as in the days [3117] of old, [5769] and as in former [6931] years. [8141]

 Et je m'approcherai de vous pour le jugement, et je me hâterai de témoigner contre les enchanteurs, contre les adultères et contre ceux qui jurent faussement, contre ceux qui retiennent le salaire du mercenaire, qui oppriment la veuve et l'orphelin, qui font tort à l'étranger, et qui ne me craignent pas, a dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 And I will come near [7126] to you to judgment; [4941] and I will be a swift [4116] witness [5707] against the sorcerers, [3784] and against the adulterers, [5003] and against false [8267] swearers, [7650] and against those that oppress [6231] the hireling [7916] in [his] wages, [7939] the widow, [0490] and the fatherless, [3490] and that turn aside [5186] the stranger [1616] [from his right], and fear [3372] not me, saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Car JE SUIS YEHOVAH, je ne change pas; et vous, enfants de Jacob, vous n'avez pas été consumés.

 For I [am] the LORD, [3068] I change [8138] not; therefore ye sons [1121] of Jacob [3290] are not consumed. [3615]

 Depuis le temps de vos pères, vous vous êtes écartés de mes ordonnances, et vous ne les avez point observées. Revenez à moi et je reviendrai à vous, a dit YEHOVAH des armées. Et vous dites: "En quoi reviendrons-nous?"

 Even from the days [3117] of your fathers [0001] ye are gone away [5493] from mine ordinances, [2706] and have not kept [8104] [them]. Return [7725] unto me, and I will return [7725] unto you, saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635] But ye said, [0559] Wherein shall we return? [7725]

 L'homme trompera-t-il Dieu? Car vous me trompez. Et vous dites: "En quoi t'avons-nous trompé?" Dans les dîmes de la loi et dans les offrandes des sacrificateurs.

 Will a man [0120] rob [6906] God? [0430] Yet ye have robbed [6906] me. But ye say, [0559] Wherein have we robbed [6906] thee? In tithes [4643] and offerings. [8641]

 Vous êtes frappés de malédiction, et vous me trompez, vous, la nation entière!

 Ye [are] cursed [0779] with a curse: [3994] for ye have robbed [6906] me, [even] this whole nation. [1471]

 Apportez toutes les dîmes de la loi à la maison du trésor, et qu'il y ait de la provision dans ma maison; et éprouvez-moi en cela, dit YEHOVAH des armées: si je ne vous ouvre pas les écluses des cieux, et si je ne répands pas sur vous la bénédiction sans mesure.

 Bring [0935] ye all the tithes [4643] into the storehouse, [1004] [0214] that there may be meat [2964] in mine house, [1004] and prove [0974] me now herewith, [2063] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts, [6635] if I will not open [6605] you the windows [0699] of heaven, [8064] and pour you out [7324] a blessing, [1293] that [there shall] not [be room] enough [1767] [to receive it].

 Et je détournerai de vous le rongeur; il ne vous détruira pas le fruit de la terre, et vos vignes ne seront point stériles dans la campagne, a dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 And I will rebuke [1605] the devourer [0398] for your sakes, and he shall not destroy [7843] the fruits [6529] of your ground; [0127] neither shall your vine [1612] cast her fruit before the time [7921] in the field, [7704] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Et toutes les nations vous diront heureux, car vous serez un pays de délices, dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 And all nations [1471] shall call you blessed: [0833] for ye shall be a delightsome [2656] land, [0776] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Vos paroles sont violentes contre moi, a dit YEHOVAH. Et vous dites: "Qu'avons-nous dit entre nous contre toi?"

 Your words [1697] have been stout [2388] against me, saith [0559] the LORD. [3068] Yet ye say, [0559] What have we spoken [1696] [so much] against thee?

 Vous avez dit: "C'est en vain qu'on sert Dieu, et qu'avons-nous gagné d'avoir observé ses ordonnances, et d'avoir marché en habits de deuil devant YEHOVAH des armées?

 Ye have said, [0559] It [is] vain [7723] to serve [5647] God: [0430] and what profit [1215] [is it] that we have kept [8104] his ordinance, [4931] and that we have walked [1980] mournfully [6941] before [6440] the LORD [3068] of hosts? [6635]

 Nous tenons maintenant pour heureux les orgueilleux; ceux qui commettent la méchanceté prospèrent; oui, ils tentent Dieu et ils échappent!"

 And now we call the proud [2086] happy; [0833] yea, they that work [6213] wickedness [7564] are set up; [1129] yea, [they that] tempt [0974] God [0430] are even delivered. [4422]

 Alors ceux qui craignent YEHOVAH se sont parlés l'un à l'autre, et YEHOVAH fut attentif et il écouta; et un mémoire fut écrit devant lui, pour ceux qui craignent YEHOVAH et qui pensent à son nom.

 Then they that feared [3373] the LORD [3068] spake [1696] often one [0376] to another: [7453] and the LORD [3068] hearkened, [7181] and heard [8085] [it], and a book [5612] of remembrance [2146] was written [3789] before [6440] him for them that feared [3373] the LORD, [3068] and that thought [2803] upon his name. [8034]

 Ils seront à moi, a dit YEHOVAH des armées, au jour que je préparerai mes plus précieux joyaux; ils seront ma propriété; et je les épargnerai, comme un homme épargne son fils qui le sert.

 And they shall be mine, saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts, [6635] in that day [3117] when I make up [6213] my jewels; [5459] and I will spare [2550] them, as a man [0376] spareth [2550] his own son [1121] that serveth [5647] him.

 Et vous verrez de nouveau la différence qu'il y a entre le juste et le méchant, entre celui qui sert Dieu et celui qui ne le sert pas.

 Then shall ye return, [7725] and discern [7200] between the righteous [6662] and the wicked, [7563] between him that serveth [5647] God [0430] and him that serveth [5647] him not.

 Car voici, le jour vient, ardent comme un four: tous les orgueilleux et tous ceux qui commettent la méchanceté, seront comme du chaume, et ce jour qui vient les embrasera, a dit YEHOVAH des armées, et ne leur laissera ni racine ni rameau.

 For, behold, the day [3117] cometh, [0935] that shall burn [1197] as an oven; [8574] and all the proud, [2086] yea, and all that do [6213] wickedly, [7564] shall be stubble: [7179] and the day [3117] that cometh [0935] shall burn them up, [3857] saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts, [6635] that it shall leave [5800] them neither root [8328] nor branch. [6057]

 Mais pour vous, qui craignez mon nom, se lèvera LE SOLEIL DE JUSTICE, et la santé sera dans ses rayons, et vous sortirez et bondirez comme les veaux d'une étable.

 But unto you that fear [3373] my name [8034] shall the Sun [8121] of righteousness [6666] arise [2224] with healing [4832] in his wings; [3671] and ye shall go forth, [3318] and grow up [6335] as calves [5695] of the stall. [4770]

 Et vous foulerez les méchants, car ils seront comme de la cendre sous la plante de vos pieds, au jour que je prépare, a dit YEHOVAH des armées.

 And ye shall tread down [6072] the wicked; [7563] for they shall be ashes [0665] under the soles [3709] of your feet [7272] in the day [3117] that I shall do [6213] [this], saith [0559] the LORD [3068] of hosts. [6635]

 Souvenez-vous de la loi de Moïse, mon serviteur, auquel je prescrivis en Horeb, pour tout Israël, des préceptes et des ordonnances.

 Remember [2142] ye the law [8451] of Moses [4872] my servant, [5650] which I commanded [6680] unto him in Horeb [2722] for all Israel, [3478] [with] the statutes [2706] and judgments. [4941]

 Voici, je vais vous envoyer Élie, le prophète, avant que le jour grand et redoutable de YEHOVAH vienne.

 Behold, I will send [7971] you Elijah [0452] the prophet [5030] before [6440] the coming [0935] of the great [1419] and dreadful [3372] day [3117] of the LORD: [3068]

 Il ramènera le cœur des pères vers les enfants, et le cœur des enfants vers leurs pères, de peur que je ne vienne et que je ne frappe la terre d'interdit.
