Le Livre des Psaumes

Chapître 31

1
To the chief Musician,18 A Psalm of David.
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust;1 let me never 5769 be ashamed:4 deliver16 me in thy righteousness.

2
Bow down54 thine ear to me; deliver54 me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save53 me.

3
For thou [art] my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead55 me, and guide17 me.

4
Pull me out55 of the net that they have laid privily1 for me: for thou [art] my strength.

5
Into thine hand I commit55 my spirit: thou hast redeemed1 me, O LORD God of truth.

6
I have hated1 them that regard6 lying vanities: but I trust1 in the LORD.

7
I will be glad4 and rejoice4 in thy mercy: for thou hast considered1 my trouble; thou hast known1 my soul in adversities;

8
And hast not shut me up52 into the hand of the enemy:6 thou hast set52 my feet in a large room.

9
Have mercy3 upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble:1 mine eye is consumed1 with grief, [yea], my soul and my belly.

10
For my life is spent1 with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth1 because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.1

11
I was a reproach among all mine enemies,6 but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance:30 they that did see6 me without fled1 from me.

12
I am forgotten8 as a dead man5 out of mind: I am like a broken6 vessel.

13
For I have heard1 the slander of many: fear [was] on every side: while they took counsel9 together against me, they devised1 to take away2 my life.

14
But I trusted1 in thee, O LORD: I said,1 Thou [art] my God.

15
My times [are] in thy hand: deliver54 me from the hand of mine enemies,6 and from them that persecute6 me.

16
Make thy face to shine54 upon thy servant: save54 me for thy mercies' sake.

17
Let me not be ashamed,4 O LORD; for I have called1 upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed,4 [and] let them be silent4 in the grave.

18
Let the lying lips be put to silence;11 which speak6 grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

19
[Oh] how great [is] thy goodness, which thou hast laid up1 for them that fear thee; [which] thou hast wrought1 for them that trust6 in thee before the sons of men!

20
Thou shalt hide55 them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly4 in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

21
Blessed7 [be] the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous52 kindness in a strong city.

22
For I said1 in my haste,2 I am cut off8 from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest1 the voice of my supplications when I cried15 unto thee.

23
O love3 the LORD, all ye his saints: [for] the LORD preserveth6 the faithful,7 and plentifully rewardeth18 the proud doer.6

24
Be of good courage,3 and he shall strengthen55 your heart, all ye that hope18 in the LORD.
