1 γίνεσθε οὗν μιμηταὶ τοῦ θεοῦ, ὡς τέκνα ἀγαπητά,

2 καὶ περιπατεῖτε ἐν ἀγάπῃ, καθὼς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς ἠγάπησεν ἡμᾶς καὶ παρέδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν προσφορὰν καὶ θυσίαν τῶ θεῶ εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας.

3 πορνεία δὲ καὶ ἀκαθαρσία πᾶσα ἢ πλεονεξία μηδὲ ὀνομαζέσθω ἐν ὑμῖν, καθὼς πρέπει ἁγίοις,

4 καὶ αἰσχρότης καὶ μωρολογία ἢ εὐτραπελία, ἃ οὐκ ἀνῆκεν, ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εὐχαριστία.

5 τοῦτο γὰρ ἴστε γινώσκοντες ὅτι πᾶς πόρνος ἢ ἀκάθαρτος ἢ πλεονέκτης, ὅ ἐστιν εἰδωλολάτρης, οὐκ ἔχει κληρονομίαν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ χριστοῦ καὶ θεοῦ.

6 μηδεὶς ὑμᾶς ἀπατάτω κενοῖς λόγοις, διὰ ταῦτα γὰρ ἔρχεται ἡ ὀργὴ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῆς ἀπειθείας.

7 μὴ οὗν γίνεσθε συμμέτοχοι αὐτῶν·

8 ἦτε γάρ ποτε σκότος, νῦν δὲ φῶς ἐν κυρίῳ· ὡς τέκνα φωτὸς περιπατεῖτε

9 _ ὁ γὰρ καρπὸς τοῦ φωτὸς ἐν πάσῃ ἀγαθωσύνῃ καὶ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἀληθείᾳ _

10 δοκιμάζοντες τί ἐστιν εὐάρεστον τῶ κυρίῳ·

11 καὶ μὴ συγκοινωνεῖτε τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς ἀκάρποις τοῦ σκότους, μᾶλλον δὲ καὶ ἐλέγχετε,

12 τὰ γὰρ κρυφῇ γινόμενα ὑπ᾽ αὐτῶν αἰσχρόν ἐστιν καὶ λέγειν·

13 τὰ δὲ πάντα ἐλεγχόμενα ὑπὸ τοῦ φωτὸς φανεροῦται,

14 πᾶν γὰρ τὸ φανερούμενον φῶς ἐστιν. διὸ λέγει, ἔγειρε, ὁ καθεύδων, καὶ ἀνάστα ἐκ τῶν νεκρῶν, καὶ ἐπιφαύσει σοι ὁ χριστός.

15 βλέπετε οὗν ἀκριβῶς πῶς περιπατεῖτε, μὴ ὡς ἄσοφοι ἀλλ᾽ ὡς σοφοί,

16 ἐξαγοραζόμενοι τὸν καιρόν, ὅτι αἱ ἡμέραι πονηραί εἰσιν.

17 διὰ τοῦτο μὴ γίνεσθε ἄφρονες, ἀλλὰ συνίετε τί τὸ θέλημα τοῦ κυρίου.

18 καὶ μὴ μεθύσκεσθε οἴνῳ, ἐν ᾧ ἐστιν ἀσωτία, ἀλλὰ πληροῦσθε ἐν πνεύματι,

19 λαλοῦντες ἑαυτοῖς [ἐν] ψαλμοῖς καὶ ὕμνοις καὶ ᾠδαῖς πνευματικαῖς, ᾄδοντες καὶ ψάλλοντες τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν τῶ κυρίῳ,

20 εὐχαριστοῦντες πάντοτε ὑπὲρ πάντων ἐν ὀνόματι τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ τῶ θεῶ καὶ πατρί,

21 ὑποτασσόμενοι ἀλλήλοις ἐν φόβῳ χριστοῦ.

22 αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ὡς τῶ κυρίῳ,

23 ὅτι ἀνήρ ἐστιν κεφαλὴ τῆς γυναικὸς ὡς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς κεφαλὴ τῆς ἐκκλησίας, αὐτὸς σωτὴρ τοῦ σώματος.

24 ἀλλὰ ὡς ἡ ἐκκλησία ὑποτάσσεται τῶ χριστῶ, οὕτως καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἀνδράσιν ἐν παντί.

25 οἱ ἄνδρες, ἀγαπᾶτε τὰς γυναῖκας, καθὼς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς ἠγάπησεν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ ἑαυτὸν παρέδωκεν ὑπὲρ αὐτῆς,

26 ἵνα αὐτὴν ἁγιάσῃ καθαρίσας τῶ λουτρῶ τοῦ ὕδατος ἐν ῥήματι,

27 ἵνα παραστήσῃ αὐτὸς ἑαυτῶ ἔνδοξον τὴν ἐκκλησίαν, μὴ ἔχουσαν σπίλον ἢ ῥυτίδα ἤ τι τῶν τοιούτων, ἀλλ᾽ ἵνα ᾖ ἁγία καὶ ἄμωμος.

28 οὕτως ὀφείλουσιν [καὶ] οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶν τὰς ἑαυτῶν γυναῖκας ὡς τὰ ἑαυτῶν σώματα. ὁ ἀγαπῶν τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα ἑαυτὸν ἀγαπᾷ,

29 οὐδεὶς γάρ ποτε τὴν ἑαυτοῦ σάρκα ἐμίσησεν, ἀλλὰ ἐκτρέφει καὶ θάλπει αὐτήν, καθὼς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν,

30 ὅτι μέλη ἐσμὲν τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ.

31 ἀντὶ τούτου καταλείψει ἄνθρωπος [τὸν] πατέρα καὶ [τὴν] μητέρα καὶ προσκολληθήσεται πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔσονται οἱ δύο εἰς σάρκα μίαν.

32 τὸ μυστήριον τοῦτο μέγα ἐστίν, ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω εἰς χριστὸν καὶ εἰς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν.

33 πλὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς οἱ καθ᾽ ἕνα ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα οὕτως ἀγαπάτω ὡς ἑαυτόν, ἡ δὲ γυνὴ ἵνα φοβῆται τὸν ἄνδρα.

1  Be¹⁰⁹⁶ ye therefore³⁷⁶⁷ followers³⁴⁰² of God²³¹⁶ as⁵⁶¹³ dear²⁷ children:⁵⁰⁴³

2  And²⁵³² walk⁴⁰⁴³ in¹⁷²² love,²⁶ as²⁵³¹ Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ also²⁵³² hath loved²⁵ us,²²⁴⁸ and²⁵³² hath given³⁸⁶⁰ himself¹⁴³⁸ for⁵²²⁸ us²²⁵⁷ an offering⁴³⁷⁶ and²⁵³² a sacrifice²³⁷⁸ to God²³¹⁶ for¹⁵¹⁹ a sweetsmelling²¹⁷⁵ savor.³⁷⁴⁴

3  But¹¹⁶¹ fornication,⁴²⁰² and²⁵³² all³⁹⁵⁶ uncleanness,¹⁶⁷ or²²²⁸ covetousness,⁴¹²⁴ let it not be once named^{3366 3687} among¹⁷²² you,⁵²¹³ as²⁵³¹ becometh⁴²⁴¹ saints;⁴⁰

4  Neither²⁵³² filthiness,¹⁵¹ nor²⁵³² foolish talking,³⁴⁷³ nor²²²⁸ jesting,²¹⁶⁰ which are not convenient:^{433 3756} but²³⁵ rather³¹²³ giving of thanks.²¹⁶⁹

5  For¹⁰⁶³ this⁵¹²⁴ ye know,^{2075 1097} that³⁷⁵⁴ no³⁷⁵⁶ whoremonger,⁴²⁰⁵ nor²²²⁸ unclean person,¹⁶⁹ nor²²²⁸ covetous man,⁴¹²³ who³⁷³⁹ is²⁰⁷⁶ an idolater,¹⁴⁹⁶ hath²¹⁹² any³⁹⁵⁶ inheritance²⁸¹⁷ in¹⁷²² the³⁵⁸⁸ kingdom⁹³² of Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ and²⁵³² of God.²³¹⁶

6  Let no man³³⁶⁷ deceive⁵³⁸ you⁵²⁰⁹ with vain²⁷⁵⁶ words:³⁰⁵⁶ for¹⁰⁶³ because¹²²³ of these things⁵⁰²³ cometh²⁰⁶⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ wrath³⁷⁰⁹ of God²³¹⁶ upon¹⁹⁰⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ children⁵²⁰⁷ of disobedience.⁵⁴³

7  Be¹⁰⁹⁶ not³³⁶¹ ye therefore³⁷⁶⁷ partakers⁴⁸³⁰ with them.⁸⁴⁶

8  For¹⁰⁶³ ye were²²⁵⁸ sometimes⁴²¹⁸ darkness,⁴⁶⁵⁵ but¹¹⁶¹ now³⁵⁶⁸ are ye light⁵⁴⁵⁷ in¹⁷²² the Lord:²⁹⁶² walk⁴⁰⁴³ as⁵⁶¹³ children⁵⁰⁴³ of light:⁵⁴⁵⁷

9  (For¹⁰⁶³ the³⁵⁸⁸ fruit²⁵⁹⁰ of the³⁵⁸⁸ Spirit⁴¹⁵¹ is in¹⁷²² all³⁹⁵⁶ goodness¹⁹ and²⁵³² righteousness¹³⁴³ and²⁵³² truth;)²²⁵

10  Proving¹³⁸¹ what⁵¹⁰¹ is²⁰⁷⁶ acceptable²¹⁰¹ unto the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord.²⁹⁶²

11  And²⁵³² have no fellowship^{4790 3361} with the³⁵⁸⁸ unfruitful¹⁷⁵ works²⁰⁴¹ of darkness,⁴⁶⁵⁵ but¹¹⁶¹ rather^{3123 2532} reprove¹⁶⁵¹ them.

12  For¹⁰⁶³ it is²⁰⁷⁶ a shame¹⁴⁹ even²⁵³² to speak³⁰⁰⁴ of those things which are done¹⁰⁹⁶ of⁵²⁵⁹ them⁸⁴⁶ in secret.²⁹³¹

13  But¹¹⁶¹ all things³⁹⁵⁶ that are reproved¹⁶⁵¹ are made manifest⁵³¹⁹ by⁵²⁵⁹ the³⁵⁸⁸ light:⁵⁴⁵⁷ for¹⁰⁶³ whatsoever³⁹⁵⁶ doth make manifest⁵³¹⁹ is²⁰⁷⁶ light.⁵⁴⁵⁷

14  Wherefore¹³⁵² he saith,³⁰⁰⁴ Awake¹⁴⁵³ thou that sleepest,²⁵¹⁸ and²⁵³² arise⁴⁵⁰ from¹⁵³⁷ the³⁵⁸⁸ dead,³⁴⁹⁸ and²⁵³² Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ shall give thee light.^{2017 4671}

15  See⁹⁹¹ then³⁷⁶⁷ that⁴⁴⁵⁹ ye walk⁴⁰⁴³ circumspectly,¹⁹⁹ not³³⁶¹ as⁵⁶¹³ fools,⁷⁸¹ but²³⁵ as⁵⁶¹³ wise,⁴⁶⁸⁰

16  Redeeming¹⁸⁰⁵ the³⁵⁸⁸ time,²⁵⁴⁰ because³⁷⁵⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ days²²⁵⁰ are¹⁵²⁶ evil.⁴¹⁹⁰

17  Wherefore^{1223 5124} be¹⁰⁹⁶ ye not³³⁶¹ unwise,⁸⁷⁸ but²³⁵ understanding⁴⁹²⁰ what⁵¹⁰¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ will²³⁰⁷ of the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord²⁹⁶² is.

18  And²⁵³² be not drunk^{3182 3361} with wine,³⁶³¹ wherein^{1722 3739} is²⁰⁷⁶ excess;⁸¹⁰ but²³⁵ be filled⁴¹³⁷ with¹⁷²² the Spirit;⁴¹⁵¹

19  Speaking²⁹⁸⁰ to yourselves¹⁴³⁸ in psalms⁵⁵⁶⁸ and²⁵³² hymns⁵²¹⁵ and²⁵³² spiritual⁴¹⁵² songs,⁵⁶⁰³ singing¹⁰³ and²⁵³² making melody⁵⁵⁶⁷ in¹⁷²² your⁵²¹⁶ heart²⁵⁸⁸ to the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord;²⁹⁶²

20  Giving thanks²¹⁶⁸ always³⁸⁴² for⁵²²⁸ all things³⁹⁵⁶ unto God²³¹⁶ and²⁵³² the Father³⁹⁶² in¹⁷²² the name³⁶⁸⁶ of our²²⁵⁷ Lord²⁹⁶² Jesus²⁴²⁴ Christ;⁵⁵⁴⁷

21  Submitting yourselves⁵²⁹³ one to another²⁴⁰ in¹⁷²² the fear⁵⁴⁰¹ of God.²³¹⁶

22  Wives,¹¹³⁵ submit yourselves⁵²⁹³ unto your own²³⁹⁸ husbands,⁴³⁵ as⁵⁶¹³ unto the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord.²⁹⁶²

23  For³⁷⁵⁴ the³⁵⁸⁸ husband⁴³⁵ is²⁰⁷⁶ the head²⁷⁷⁶ of the³⁵⁸⁸ wife,¹¹³⁵ even²⁵³² as⁵⁶¹³ Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ is the head²⁷⁷⁶ of the³⁵⁸⁸ church:¹⁵⁷⁷ and²⁵³² he⁸⁴⁶ is²⁰⁷⁶ the savior⁴⁹⁹⁰ of the³⁵⁸⁸ body.⁴⁹⁸³

24  Therefore²³⁵ as⁵⁶¹⁸ the³⁵⁸⁸ church¹⁵⁷⁷ is subject unto⁵²⁹³ Christ,⁵⁵⁴⁷ so³⁷⁷⁹ let the³⁵⁸⁸ wives¹¹³⁵ be to their own²³⁹⁸ husbands⁴³⁵ in¹⁷²² every thing.³⁹⁵⁶

25  Husbands,⁴³⁵ love²⁵ your¹⁴³⁸ wives,¹¹³⁵ even as²⁵³¹ Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ also²⁵³² loved²⁵ the³⁵⁸⁸ church,¹⁵⁷⁷ and²⁵³² gave³⁸⁶⁰ himself¹⁴³⁸ for⁵²²⁸ it;⁸⁴⁶

26  That²⁴⁴³ he might sanctify³⁷ and cleanse²⁵¹¹ it⁸⁴⁶ with the³⁵⁸⁸ washing³⁰⁶⁷ of water⁵²⁰⁴ by¹⁷²² the word,⁴⁴⁸⁷

27  That²⁴⁴³ he might present³⁹³⁶ it⁸⁴⁶ to himself¹⁴³⁸ a glorious¹⁷⁴¹ church,¹⁵⁷⁷ not³³⁶¹ having²¹⁹² spot,⁴⁶⁹⁵ or²²²⁸ wrinkle,⁴⁵¹² or²²²⁸ any⁵¹⁰⁰ such thing;⁵¹⁰⁸ but²³⁵ that²⁴⁴³ it should be⁵⁶⁰⁰ holy⁴⁰ and²⁵³² without blemish.²⁹⁹

28  So³⁷⁷⁹ ought³⁷⁸⁴ men⁴³⁵ to love²⁵ their¹⁴³⁸ wives¹¹³⁵ as⁵⁶¹³ their own¹⁴³⁸ bodies.⁴⁹⁸³ He that loveth²⁵ his¹⁴³⁸ wife¹¹³⁵ loveth²⁵ himself.¹⁴³⁸

29  For¹⁰⁶³ no man³⁷⁶² ever yet⁴²¹⁸ hated³⁴⁰⁴ his own¹⁴³⁸ flesh;⁴⁵⁶¹ but²³⁵ nourisheth¹⁶²⁵ and²⁵³² cherisheth²²⁸² it,⁸⁴⁶ even²⁵³² as²⁵³¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ Lord²⁹⁶² the³⁵⁸⁸ church:¹⁵⁷⁷

30  For³⁷⁵⁴ we are²⁰⁷⁰ members³¹⁹⁶ of his⁸⁴⁶ body,⁴⁹⁸³ of¹⁵³⁷ his⁸⁴⁶ flesh,⁴⁵⁶¹ and²⁵³² of¹⁵³⁷ his⁸⁴⁶ bones.³⁷⁴⁷

31  For this cause^{473 5127} shall a man⁴⁴⁴ leave²⁶⁴¹ his⁸⁴⁸ father³⁹⁶² and²⁵³² mother,³³⁸⁴ and²⁵³² shall be joined⁴³⁴⁷ unto⁴³¹⁴ his⁸⁴⁸ wife,¹¹³⁵ and²⁵³² they two¹⁴¹⁷ shall be²⁰⁷¹ one³³⁹¹ flesh.⁴⁵⁶¹

32  This⁵¹²⁴ is²⁰⁷⁶ a great³¹⁷³ mystery:³⁴⁶⁶ but¹¹⁶¹ I¹⁴⁷³ speak³⁰⁰⁴ concerning¹⁵¹⁹ Christ⁵⁵⁴⁷ and²⁵³² the³⁵⁸⁸ church.¹⁵⁷⁷

33  Nevertheless⁴¹³³ let every one¹⁵³⁸ of you^{5210 2532} in particular^{2596 1520} so³⁷⁷⁹ love²⁵ his¹⁴³⁸ wife¹¹³⁵ even as⁵⁶¹³ himself;¹⁴³⁸ and¹¹⁶¹ the³⁵⁸⁸ wife¹¹³⁵ see that²⁴⁴³ she reverence⁵³⁹⁹ her husband.⁴³⁵

6 Nemo vos seducat inanibus verbis: propter hæc enim venit ira Dei in filios diffidentiæ.

7 Nolite ergo effici participes eorum.

8 Eratis enim aliquando tenebræ: nunc autem lux in Domino. Ut filii lucis ambulate:

9 fructus enim lucis est in omni bonitate, et justitia, et veritate:

10 probantes quid sit beneplacitum Deo:

11 et nolite communicare operibus infructuosis tenebrarum, magis autem redarguite.

12 Quæ enim in occulto fiunt ab ipsis, turpe est et dicere.

13 Omnia autem, quæ arguuntur, a lumine manifestantur: omne enim, quod manifestatur, lumen est.

14 Propter quod dicit: Surge qui dormis, et exsurge a mortuis, et illuminabit te Christus.

15 Videte itaque, fratres, quomodo caute ambuletis: non quasi insipientes,

16 sed ut sapientes: redimentes tempus, quoniam dies mali sunt.

17 Propterea nolite fieri imprudentes, sed intelligentes quæ sit voluntas Dei.

18 Et nolite inebriari vino, in quo est luxuria, sed implemini Spiritu Sancto,

19 loquentes vobismetipsis in psalmis, et hymnis, et canticis spiritualibus, cantantes et psallentes in cordibus vestris Domino,

20 gratias agentes semper pro omnibus in nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi Deo et Patri,

21 subjecti invicem in timore Christi.

22 Mulieres viris suis subditæ sint, sicut Domino:

23 quoniam vir caput est mulieris, sicut Christus caput est Ecclesiæ: ipse, salvator corporis ejus.

24 Sed sicut Ecclesia subjecta est Christo, ita et mulieres viris suis in omnibus.

25 Viri, diligite uxores vestras, sicut et Christus dilexit Ecclesiam, et seipsum tradidit pro ea,

26 ut illam sanctificaret, mundans lavacro aquæ in verbo vitæ,

27 ut exhiberet ipse sibi gloriosam Ecclesiam, non habentem maculam, aut rugam, aut aliquid hujusmodi, sed ut sit sancta et immaculata.

28 Ita et viri debent diligere uxores suas ut corpora sua. Qui suam uxorem diligit, seipsum diligit.

29 Nemo enim umquam carnem suam odio habuit: sed nutrit et fovet eam, sicut et Christus Ecclesiam:

30 quia membra sumus corporis ejus, de carne ejus et de ossibus ejus.

31 Propter hoc relinquet homo patrem et matrem suam, et adhærebit uxori suæ, et erunt duo in carne una.

32 Sacramentum hoc magnum est, ego autem dico in Christo et in Ecclesia.

33 Verumtamen et vos singuli, unusquisque uxorem suam sicut seipsum diligat: uxor autem timeat virum suum.
