Chapître 14

1

O Israel, return³ unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen¹ by thine iniquity.

2

 Take³ with you words, and turn³ to the LORD: say³ unto him, Take away⁴ all iniquity, and receive³ [us] graciously: so will we render¹⁷ the calves of our lips.

3

 Asshur shall not save⁵⁵ us; we will not ride⁴ upon horses: neither will we say⁴ any more to the work of our hands, [Ye are] our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.²⁹

I will heal⁴ their backsliding, I will love⁴ them freely: for mine anger is turned away¹ from him.

I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow⁴ as the lily, and cast forth⁵⁵ his roots as Lebanon.

His branches shall spread,⁴ and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

They that dwell⁶ under his shadow shall return;⁴ they shall revive¹⁷ [as] the corn, and grow⁴ as the vine: the scent thereof [shall be] as the wine of Lebanon.

 Ephraim [shall say], What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard¹ [him], and observed⁴ him: I [am] like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.⁸

Who [is] wise, and he shall understand⁴ these [things]? prudent,¹² and he shall know⁴ them? for the ways of the LORD [are] right, and the just shall walk⁴ in them: but the transgressors⁶ shall fall¹¹ therein.
