Chapître 143

1

A Psalm of David.
Hear³ my prayer, O LORD, give ear⁵⁴ to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer³ me, [and] in thy righteousness.

2

And enter⁴ not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.⁴

For the enemy⁶ hath persecuted¹ my soul; he hath smitten¹⁴ my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell⁵² in darkness, as those that have been long dead.⁵

Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed¹⁰¹ within me; my heart within me is desolate.¹¹³

I remember¹ the days of old; I meditate¹ on all thy works; I muse³⁴ on the work of thy hands.

I stretch forth¹⁴ my hands unto thee: my soul [thirsteth] after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

 Hear³ me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth:¹ hide⁵⁵ not thy face from me, lest I be like⁸ unto them that go down⁶ into the pit.

Cause me to hear⁵⁴ thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust:¹ cause me to know⁵⁴ the way wherein I should walk;⁴ for I lift up¹ my soul unto thee.

 Deliver⁵⁴ me, O LORD, from mine enemies:⁶ I flee unto thee to hide¹⁴ me.

10

 Teach¹⁶ me to do² thy will; for thou [art] my God: thy spirit [is] good; lead⁵⁵ me into the land of uprightness.

11

 Quicken¹⁷ me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out⁵⁵ of trouble.

And of thy mercy cut off⁵⁵ mine enemies,⁶ and destroy⁵² all them that afflict⁶ my soul: for I [am] thy servant.
