1

 Maschil ^{7919 56} of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave.
I cried⁴ unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.¹⁰¹

I poured out⁴ my complaint before him; I shewed⁵⁵ before him my trouble.

When my spirit was overwhelmed⁹⁹ within me, then thou knewest¹ my path. In the way wherein I walked¹⁷ have they privily laid¹ a snare for me.

I looked⁵⁴ on [my] right hand, and beheld,³ but [there was] no man that would know⁵⁶ me: refuge failed¹ me; no man cared⁶ for my soul.

I cried¹ unto thee, O LORD: I said,¹ Thou [art] my refuge [and] my portion in the land of the living.

 Attend⁵⁴ unto my cry; for I am brought very low:¹ deliver⁵⁴ me from my persecutors;⁶ for they are stronger¹ than I.

Bring my soul out⁵⁴ of prison, that I may praise⁵³ thy name: the righteous shall compass me about;⁵⁵ for thou shalt deal bountifully⁴ with me.
