Chapître 127

1

A Song of degrees for Solomon.
Except the LORD build⁴ the house, they labour¹ in vain that build⁶ it: except the LORD keep⁴ the city, the watchman⁶ waketh¹ [but] in vain.

[It is] vain for you to rise up² early,⁵⁶ to sit up² late,¹⁸ to eat⁶ the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth⁴ his beloved sleep.

Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.

4

As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man; so [are] children of the youth.

 Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full¹⁴ of them: they shall not be ashamed,⁴ but they shall speak¹⁷ with the enemies⁶ in the gate.
