Chapître 85

1

To the chief Musician,¹⁸ A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
LORD, thou hast been favourable¹ unto thy land: thou hast brought back¹ the captivity ⁷⁶²² of Jacob.

2

Thou hast forgiven¹ the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered¹⁴ all their sin. Selah.

3

Thou hast taken away¹ all thy wrath: thou hast turned⁵² [thyself] from the fierceness of thine anger.

4

 Turn³ us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.⁵⁴

5

Wilt thou be angry⁴ with us for ever? wilt thou draw out⁴ thine anger to all generations?

6

Wilt thou not revive¹⁷ us again:⁴ that thy people may rejoice⁴ in thee?

7

 Shew⁵⁴ us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant⁴ us thy salvation.

8

I will hear⁴ what God the LORD will speak:¹⁷ for he will speak¹⁷ peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again⁴ to folly.

9

Surely his salvation [is] nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell² in our land.

10

 Mercy and truth are met⁸ together; righteousness and peace have kissed¹ [each other].

11

 Truth shall spring⁴ out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down⁸ from heaven.

12

Yea, the LORD shall give⁴ [that which is] good; and our land shall yield⁴ her increase.

13

 Righteousness shall go¹⁷ before him; and shall set⁴ [us] in the way of his steps.
