Chapître 53

1

To the chief Musician¹⁸ upon Mahalath, Maschil, ^{7919 56} [A Psalm] of David.
The fool hath said¹ in his heart, [There is] no God. Corrupt⁵² are they, and have done abominable⁵² iniquity: [there is] none that doeth⁶ good.

 God looked down⁵² from heaven upon the children of men, to see² if there were [any] that did understand,⁵⁶ that did seek⁶ God.

Every one of them is gone back:¹ they are altogether become filthy;⁸ [there is] none that doeth⁶ good, no, not one.

Have the workers⁶ of iniquity no knowledge?¹ who eat up⁶ my people [as] they eat¹ bread: they have not called¹ upon God.

There were they in great fear,¹ [where] no fear was: for God hath scattered¹⁴ the bones of him that encampeth⁶ [against] thee: thou hast put [them] to shame,⁵² because God hath despised¹ them.

Oh that⁴ the salvation of Israel [were come] out of Zion! When God bringeth back² the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice,⁴ [and] Israel shall be glad.⁴
