Chapître 7

1

 Shiggaion of David, which he sang¹ unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite.
¹¹⁴⁵ O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust:¹ save⁵⁴ me from all them that persecute⁶ me, and deliver⁵⁴ me:

2

Lest he tear⁴ my soul like a lion, rending [it] in pieces,⁶ while [there is] none to deliver.⁵⁶

3

O LORD my God, if I have done¹ this; if there be iniquity in my hands;

4

If I have rewarded¹ evil unto him that was at peace⁶ with me; (yea, I have delivered¹⁷ him that without cause is mine enemy:)⁶

5

Let the enemy⁶ persecute¹⁷ my soul, and take⁵⁵ [it]; yea, let him tread down⁴ my life upon the earth, and lay⁵⁵ mine honour in the dust. Selah.

 Arise,³ O LORD, in thine anger, lift up¹⁰ thyself because of the rage of mine enemies:⁶ and awake³ for me [to] the judgment [that] thou hast commanded.¹⁴

So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about:²⁵ for their sakes therefore return³ thou on high.

8

The LORD shall judge⁴ the people: judge³ me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity [that is] in me.

9

Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end;⁴ but establish³⁴ the just: for the righteous God trieth⁶ the hearts and reins.

10

My defence [is] of God, which saveth⁵⁶ the upright in heart.

11

 God judgeth⁶ the righteous, and God is angry⁶ [with the wicked] every day.

12

If he turn⁴ not, he will whet⁴ his sword; he hath bent¹ his bow, and made it ready.³⁴

13

He hath also prepared⁵² for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth⁴ his arrows against the persecutors.⁵

14

Behold, he travaileth¹⁷ with iniquity, and hath conceived¹ mischief, and brought forth¹ falsehood.

15

He made¹ a pit, and digged⁴ it, and is fallen⁴ into the ditch [which] he made.⁴

16

His mischief shall return⁴ upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down⁴ upon his own pate.

17

I will praise⁵⁵ the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise¹⁷ to the name of the LORD most high.
