Chapître 4

1

To the chief Musician¹⁸ on Neginoth, A Psalm of David.
Hear³ me when I call,² O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged⁵² me [when I was] in distress; have mercy³ upon me, and hear³ my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long [will ye turn] my glory into shame? [how long] will ye love⁴ vanity, [and] seek¹⁷ after leasing? Selah.

But know³ that the LORD hath set apart⁵² him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear⁴ when I call² unto him.

Stand in awe,³ and sin⁴ not: commune³ with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.³ Selah.

 Offer³ the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust³ in the LORD.

[There be] many that say,⁶ Who will shew⁵⁵ us [any] good? LORD, lift thou up^{3 5254 3} the light of thy countenance upon us.

7

Thou hast put¹ gladness in my heart, more than in the time [that] their corn and their wine increased.¹

8

I will both lay me down⁴ in peace, and sleep:⁴ for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell⁵⁵ in safety.
