Chapître 4

1
To the chief Musician18 on Neginoth, A Psalm of David.
Hear3 me when I call,2 O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged52 me [when I was] in distress; have mercy3 upon me, and hear3 my prayer.

2
O ye sons of men, how long [will ye turn] my glory into shame? [how long] will ye love4 vanity, [and] seek17 after leasing? Selah.

3
But know3 that the LORD hath set apart52 him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear4 when I call2 unto him.

4
Stand in awe,3 and sin4 not: commune3 with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.3 Selah.

5
Offer3 the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust3 in the LORD.

6
[There be] many that say,6 Who will shew55 us [any] good? LORD, lift thou up3 5254 3 the light of thy countenance upon us.

7
Thou hast put1 gladness in my heart, more than in the time [that] their corn and their wine increased.1

8
I will both lay me down4 in peace, and sleep:4 for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell55 in safety.
