Numbers 24

KJV

1  And when Balaam1109 saw7200 that3588 it pleased2895 5869 the LORD3068 to bless1288 853 Israel,3478 he went1980 not,3808 as at other times,6471 6471 to seek7125 for enchantments,5173 but he set7896 his face6440 toward413 the wilderness.4057

2  And Balaam1109 lifted up5375 853 his eyes,5869 and he saw7200 853 Israel3478 abiding7931 in his tents according to their tribes;7626 and the spirit7307 of God430 came1961 upon5921 him.

3  And he took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Balaam1109 the son1121 of Beor1160 hath said,5002 and the man1397 whose eyes5869 are open8365 hath said:5002

4  He hath said,5002 which heard8085 the words561 of God,410 which834 saw2372 the vision4236 of the Almighty,7706 falling5307 into a trance, but having his eyes5869 open:1540

5  How4100 goodly2895 are thy tents,168 O Jacob,3290 and thy tabernacles,4908 O Israel!3478

6  As the valleys5158 are they spread forth,5186 as gardens1593 by5921 the river's5104 side, as the trees of lign aloes174 which the LORD3068 hath planted,5193 and as cedar trees730 beside5921 the waters.4325

7  He shall pour5140 the water4325 out of his buckets,4480 1805 and his seed2233 shall be in many7227 waters,4325 and his king4428 shall be higher7311 than Agag,4480 90 and his kingdom4438 shall be exalted.5375

8  God410 brought him forth3318 out of Egypt;4480 4714 he hath as it were the strength8443 of a unicorn:7214 he shall eat up398 the nations1471 his enemies,6862 and shall break1633 their bones,6106 and pierce them through4272 with his arrows.2671

9  He couched,3766 he lay down7901 as a lion,738 and as a great lion:3833 who4310 shall stir him up?6965 Blessed1288 is he that blesseth1288 thee, and cursed779 is he that curseth779 thee.

10  And Balak's1111 anger639 was kindled2734 against413 Balaam,1109 and he smote his hands together:5606 853 3709 and Balak1111 said559 unto413 Balaam,1109 I called7121 thee to curse6895 mine enemies,341 and, behold,2009 thou hast altogether blessed1288 1288 them these2088 three7969 times.6471

11  Therefore now6258 flee1272 thou to413 thy place:4725 I thought559 to promote thee unto great honor;3513 3513 but, lo,2009 the LORD3068 hath kept thee back4513 from honor.4480 3519

12  And Balaam1109 said559 unto413 Balak,1111 Spoke1696 I not3808 also1571 to413 thy messengers4397 which834 thou sentest7971 unto413 me, saying,559

13  If518 Balak1111 would give5414 me his house1004 full4393 of silver3701 and gold,2091 I cannot3808 3201 go beyond5674 853 the commandment6310 of the LORD,3068 to do6213 either good2896 or176 bad7451 of mine own mind;4480 3820 but what834 the LORD3068 saith,1696 that will I speak?1696

14  And now,6258 behold,2009 I go1980 unto my people:5971 come1980 therefore, and I will advertise3289 thee what834 this2088 people5971 shall do6213 to thy people5971 in the latter319 days.3117

15  And he took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Balaam1109 the son1121 of Beor1160 hath said,5002 and the man1397 whose eyes5869 are open8365 hath said:5002

16  He hath said,5002 which heard8085 the words561 of God,410 and knew3045 the knowledge1847 of the most High,5945 which saw2372 the vision4236 of the Almighty,7706 falling5307 into a trance, but having his eyes5869 open:1540

17  I shall see7200 him, but not3808 now:6258 I shall behold7789 him, but not3808 nigh:7138 there shall come1869 a Star3556 out of Jacob,4480 3290 and a Scepter7626 shall rise6965 out of Israel,4480 3478 and shall smite4272 the corners6285 of Moab,4124 and destroy4272 all3605 the children1121 of Sheth.8352

18  And Edom123 shall be1961 a possession,3424 Seir8165 also shall be1961 a possession3424 for his enemies;341 and Israel3478 shall do6213 valiantly.2428

19  Out of Jacob4480 3290 shall come he that shall have dominion,7287 and shall destroy6 him that remaineth8300 of the city.4480 5892

20  And when he looked on7200 853 Amalek,6002 he took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Amalek6002 was the first7225 of the nations;1471 but his latter end319 shall be that he perish8 forever.5703

21  And he looked on7200 853 the Kenites,7017 and took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Strong386 is thy dwelling place,4186 and thou puttest7760 thy nest7064 in a rock.5553

22  Nevertheless3588 518 the Kenite7014 shall be1961 wasted,1197 until5704 4100 Asshur804 shall carry thee away captive.7617

23  And he took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Alas,188 who4310 shall live2421 when God410 doeth4480 7760 this!

24  And ships6716 shall come from the coast4480 3027 of Chittim,3794 and shall afflict6031 Asshur,804 and shall afflict6031 Eber,5677 and he1931 also1571 shall perish8 forever.5703

25  And Balaam1109 rose up,6965 and went1980 and returned7725 to his place:4725 and Balak1111 also1571 went1980 his way.1870

3 assumpta parabola, ait: [Dixit Balaam filius Beor:
dixit homo, cujus obturatus est oculus:

4 dixit auditor sermonum Dei,
qui visionem Omnipotentis intuitus est,
qui cadit, et sic aperiuntur oculi ejus:

5 Quam pulchra tabernacula tua, Jacob,
et tentoria tua, Israël!

6 ut valles nemorosæ,
ut horti juxta fluvios irrigui,
ut tabernacula quæ fixit Dominus,
quasi cedri prope aquas.

7 Fluet aqua de situla ejus,
et semen illius erit in aquas multas.
Tolletur propter Agag, rex ejus,
et auferetur regnum illius.

8 Deus eduxit illum de Ægypto,
cujus fortitudo similis est rhinocerotis.
Devorabunt gentes hostes illius,
ossaque eorum confringent, et perforabunt sagittis.

9 Accubans dormivit ut leo,
et quasi leæna, quam suscitare nullus audebit.
Qui benedixerit tibi, erit et ipse benedictus:
qui maledixerit, in maledictione reputabitur.]

10 Iratusque Balac contra Balaam, complosis manibus ait: Ad maledicendum inimicis meis vocavi te, quibus e contrario tertio benedixisti:

15 Sumpta igitur parabola, rursum ait: [Dixit Balaam filius Beor:
dixit homo, cujus obturatus est oculus:

16 dixit auditor sermonum Dei,
qui novit doctrinam Altissimi,
et visiones Omnipotentis videt,
qui cadens apertos habet oculos:

17 Videbo eum, sed non modo:
intuebor illum, sed non prope.
Orietur stella ex Jacob,
et consurget virga de Israël:
et percutiet duces Moab,
vastabitque omnes filios Seth.

18 Et erit Idumæa possessio ejus:
hæreditas Seir cedet inimicis suis:
Israël vero fortiter aget.

19 De Jacob erit qui dominetur,
et perdat reliquias civitatis.
]

20 Cumque vidisset Amalec, assumens parabolam, ait: [Principium gentium Amalec,
cujus extrema perdentur.]

21 Vidit quoque Cinæum: et assumpta parabola, ait: [Robustum quidem est habitaculum tuum:
sed si in petra posueris nidum tuum,

22 et fueris electus de stirpe Cin,
quamdiu poteris permanere?
