1  In the seventh⁷⁶⁵¹ year⁸¹⁴¹ of Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ Jehoash³⁰⁶⁰ began to reign;⁴⁴²⁷ and forty⁷⁰⁵ years⁸¹⁴¹ reigned⁴⁴²⁷ he in Jerusalem.³³⁸⁹ And his mother's⁵¹⁷ name⁸⁰³⁴ was Zibiah⁶⁶⁴⁵ of Beer-sheba.^{4480 884}

2  And Jehoash³⁰⁶⁰ did⁶²¹³ that which was right³⁴⁷⁷ in the sight⁵⁸⁶⁹ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ all³⁶⁰⁵ his days³¹¹⁷ wherein⁸³⁴ Jehoiada³⁰⁷⁷ the priest³⁵⁴⁸ instructed³³⁸⁴ him.

3  But⁷⁵³⁵ the high places¹¹¹⁶ were not³⁸⁰⁸ taken away:⁵⁴⁹³ the people⁵⁹⁷¹ still⁵⁷⁵⁰ sacrificed²⁰⁷⁶ and burnt incense⁶⁹⁹⁹ in the high places.¹¹¹⁶

4  And Jehoash³⁰⁶⁰ said⁵⁵⁹ to⁴¹³ the priests,³⁵⁴⁸ All³⁶⁰⁵ the money³⁷⁰¹ of the dedicated things⁶⁹⁴⁴ that⁸³⁴ is brought⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ even the money³⁷⁰¹ of every one that passeth⁵⁶⁷⁴ the account, the money³⁷⁰¹ that every man⁵³¹⁵ is set at,⁶¹⁸⁷ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the money³⁷⁰¹ that⁸³⁴ cometh⁵⁹²⁷ into⁵⁹²¹ any man's³⁷⁶ heart³⁸²⁰ to bring⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸

5  Let the priests³⁵⁴⁸ take³⁹⁴⁷ it to them, every man³⁷⁶ of^{4480 854} his acquaintance:⁴³⁷⁸ and let them¹⁹⁹² repair^{2388 853} the breaches⁹¹⁹ of the house,¹⁰⁰⁴ wheresoever^{3605 834 8033} any breach⁹¹⁹ shall be found.⁴⁶⁷²

6  But it was¹⁹⁶¹ so, that in the three⁷⁹⁶⁹ and twentieth⁶²⁴² year⁸¹⁴¹ of king⁴⁴²⁸ Jehoash³⁰⁶⁰ the priests³⁵⁴⁸ had not³⁸⁰⁸ repaired^{2388 853} the breaches⁹¹⁹ of the house.¹⁰⁰⁴

7  Then king⁴⁴²⁸ Jehoash³⁰⁶⁰ called⁷¹²¹ for Jehoiada³⁰⁷⁷ the priest,³⁵⁴⁸ and the other priests,³⁵⁴⁸ and said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ them, Why⁴⁰⁶⁹ repair²³⁸⁸ ye not^{369 853} the breaches⁹¹⁹ of the house?¹⁰⁰⁴ now⁶²⁵⁸ therefore receive³⁹⁴⁷ no⁴⁰⁸ more money³⁷⁰¹ of^{4480 854} your acquaintance,⁴³⁷⁸ but³⁵⁸⁸ deliver⁵⁴¹⁴ it for the breaches⁹¹⁹ of the house.¹⁰⁰⁴

8  And the priests³⁵⁴⁸ consented²²⁵ to receive³⁹⁴⁷ no¹¹¹⁵ more money³⁷⁰¹ of^{4480 854} the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ neither¹¹¹⁵ to repair^{2388 853} the breaches⁹¹⁹ of the house.¹⁰⁰⁴

9  But Jehoiada³⁰⁷⁷ the priest³⁵⁴⁸ took³⁹⁴⁷ a²⁵⁹ chest,⁷²⁷ and bored⁵³⁴⁴ a hole²³⁵⁶ in the lid¹⁸¹⁷ of it, and set⁵⁴¹⁴ it beside⁶⁸¹ the altar,⁴¹⁹⁶ on the right side³²²⁵ as one³⁷⁶ cometh⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD:³⁰⁶⁸ and the priests³⁵⁴⁸ that kept⁸¹⁰⁴ the door⁵⁵⁹² put⁵⁴¹⁴ therein^{8033 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the money³⁷⁰¹ that was brought⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

10  And it was¹⁹⁶¹ so, when they saw⁷²⁰⁰ that³⁵⁸⁸ there was much⁷²²⁷ money³⁷⁰¹ in the chest,⁷²⁷ that the king's⁴⁴²⁸ scribe⁵⁶⁰⁸ and the high¹⁴¹⁹ priest³⁵⁴⁸ came up,⁵⁹²⁷ and they put up in bags,⁶⁶⁹⁶ and told^{4487 853} the money³⁷⁰¹ that was found⁴⁶⁷² in the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

11  And they gave^{5414 853} the money,³⁷⁰¹ being told,⁸⁵⁰⁵ into⁵⁹²¹ the hands³⁰²⁷ of them that did⁶²¹³ the work,⁴³⁹⁹ that had the oversight⁶⁴⁸⁵ of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD:³⁰⁶⁸ and they laid it out³³¹⁸ to the carpenters^{2796 6086} and builders,¹¹²⁹ that wrought⁶²¹³ upon the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸

12  And to masons,¹⁴⁴³ and hewers²⁶⁷² of stone,⁶⁸ and to buy⁷⁰⁶⁹ timber⁶⁰⁸⁶ and hewed⁴²⁷⁴ stone⁶⁸ to repair^{2388 853} the breaches⁹¹⁹ of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ and for all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ was laid out³³¹⁸ for⁵⁹²¹ the house¹⁰⁰⁴ to repair²³⁹⁴ it.

13  Howbeit³⁸⁹ there were not³⁸⁰⁸ made⁶²¹³ for the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ bowls⁵⁵⁹² of silver,³⁷⁰¹ snuffers,⁴²¹² basins,⁴²¹⁹ trumpets,²⁶⁸⁹ any³⁶⁰⁵ vessels³⁶²⁷ of gold,²⁰⁹¹ or vessels³⁶²⁷ of silver,³⁷⁰¹ of⁴⁴⁸⁰ the money³⁷⁰¹ that was brought⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD:³⁰⁶⁸

14  But³⁵⁸⁸ they gave⁵⁴¹⁴ that to the workmen,^{6213 4399} and repaired²³⁸⁸ therewith ⁸⁵³ the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

15  Moreover they reckoned²⁸⁰³ not³⁸⁰⁸ with⁸⁵⁴ the men,³⁷⁶ into⁵⁹²¹ whose⁸³⁴ hand³⁰²⁷ they delivered^{5414 853} the money³⁷⁰¹ to be bestowed⁵⁴¹⁴ on workmen:^{6213 4399} for³⁵⁸⁸ they¹⁹⁹² dealt⁶²¹³ faithfully.⁵³⁰

16  The trespass⁸¹⁷ money³⁷⁰¹ and sin²⁴⁰³ money³⁷⁰¹ was not³⁸⁰⁸ brought⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD:³⁰⁶⁸ it was¹⁹⁶¹ the priests.³⁵⁴⁸

17  Then²²⁷ Hazael²³⁷¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Syria⁷⁵⁸ went up,⁵⁹²⁷ and fought³⁸⁹⁸ against⁵⁹²¹ Gath,¹⁶⁶¹ and took³⁹²⁰ it: and Hazael²³⁷¹ set⁷⁷⁶⁰ his face⁶⁴⁴⁰ to go up⁵⁹²⁷ to⁵⁹²¹ Jerusalem.³³⁸⁹

18  And Jehoash³⁰⁶⁰ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Judah³⁰⁶³ took^{3947 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the hallowed things⁶⁹⁴⁴ that⁸³⁴ Jehoshaphat,³⁰⁹² and Jehoram,³⁰⁸⁸ and Ahaziah,²⁷⁴ his fathers,¹ kings⁴⁴²⁸ of Judah,³⁰⁶³ had dedicated,⁶⁹⁴² and his own hallowed things,⁶⁹⁴⁴ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the gold²⁰⁹¹ that was found⁴⁶⁷² in the treasures²¹⁴ of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ and in the king's⁴⁴²⁸ house,¹⁰⁰⁴ and sent⁷⁹⁷¹ it to Hazael²³⁷¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Syria:⁷⁵⁸ and he went away⁵⁹²⁷ from^{4480 5921} Jerusalem.³³⁸⁹

19  And the rest³⁴⁹⁹ of the acts¹⁶⁹⁷ of Joash,³¹⁰¹ and all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ he did,⁶²¹³ are they¹⁹⁹² not³⁸⁰⁸ written³⁷⁸⁹ in⁵⁹²¹ the book⁵⁶¹² of the chronicles^{1697 3117} of the kings⁴⁴²⁸ of Judah?³⁰⁶³

20  And his servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ arose,⁶⁹⁶⁵ and made⁷¹⁹⁴ a conspiracy,⁷¹⁹⁵ and slew^{5221 853} Joash³¹⁰¹ in the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Millo,⁴⁴⁰⁷ which goeth down³³⁸¹ to Silla.⁵⁵³⁸

21  For Jozachar³¹⁰⁸ the son¹¹²¹ of Shimeath,⁸¹⁰⁰ and Jehozabad³⁰⁷⁵ the son¹¹²¹ of Shomer,⁷⁷⁶³ his servants,⁵⁶⁵⁰ smote⁵²²¹ him, and he died;⁴¹⁹¹ and they buried⁶⁹¹² him with⁵⁹⁷³ his fathers¹ in the city⁵⁸⁹² of David:¹⁷³² and Amaziah⁵⁵⁸ his son¹¹²¹ reigned⁴⁴²⁷ in his stead.⁸⁴⁷⁸

2 ἐν ἔτει ἑβδόμῳ τῷ Ιου ἐβασίλευσεν Ιωας καὶ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ Αβια ἐκ τῆς Βηρσαβεε

3 καὶ ἐποίησεν Ιωας τὸ εὐθὲς ἐνώπιον κυρίου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἃς ἐφώτισεν αὐτὸν Ιωδαε ὁ ἱερεύς

4 πλὴν τῶν ὑψηλῶν οὐ μετεστάθησαν καὶ ἐκεῖ ἔτι ὁ λαὸς ἐθυσίαζεν καὶ ἐθυμίων ἐν τοῖς ὑψηλοῖς

5 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωας πρὸς τοὺς ἱερεῖς πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον τῶν ἁγίων τὸ εἰσοδιαζόμενον ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ κυρίου ἀργύριον συντιμήσεως ἀνὴρ ἀργύριον λαβὼν συντιμήσεως πᾶν ἀργύριον ὃ ἐὰν ἀναβῇ ἐπὶ καρδίαν ἀνδρὸς ἐνεγκεῖν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου

6 λαβέτωσαν ἑαυτοῖς οἱ ἱερεῖς ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ τῆς πράσεως αὐτῶν καὶ αὐτοὶ κρατήσουσιν τὸ βεδεκ τοῦ οἴκου εἰς πάντα οὗ ἐὰν εὑρεθῇ ἐκεῖ βεδεκ

7 καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν τῷ εἰκοστῷ καὶ τρίτῳ ἔτει τῷ βασιλεῖ Ιωας οὐκ ἐκραταίωσαν οἱ ἱερεῖς τὸ βεδεκ τοῦ οἴκου

8 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ιωας ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιωδαε τὸν ἱερέα καὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς τί ὅτι οὐκ ἐκραταιοῦτε τὸ βεδεκ τοῦ οἴκου καὶ νῦν μὴ λάβητε ἀργύριον ἀπὸ τῶν πράσεων ὑμῶν ὅτι εἰς τὸ βεδεκ τοῦ οἴκου δώσετε αὐτό

9 καὶ συνεφώνησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς τοῦ μὴ λαβεῖν ἀργύριον παρὰ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ τοῦ μὴ ἐνισχῦσαι τὸ βεδεκ τοῦ οἴκου

10 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ιωδαε ὁ ἱερεὺς κιβωτὸν μίαν καὶ ἔτρησεν τρώγλην ἐπὶ τῆς σανίδος αὐτῆς καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν παρὰ ιαμιβιν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ ἀνδρὸς οἴκου κυρίου καὶ ἔδωκαν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ φυλάσσοντες τὸν σταθμὸν πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου

11 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς εἶδον ὅτι πολὺ τὸ ἀργύριον ἐν τῇ κιβωτῷ καὶ ἀνέβη ὁ γραμματεὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας καὶ ἔσφιγξαν καὶ ἠρίθμησαν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου

12 καὶ ἔδωκαν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ ἑτοιμασθὲν ἐπὶ χεῖρας ποιούντων τὰ ἔργα τῶν ἐπισκόπων οἴκου κυρίου καὶ ἐξέδοσαν τοῖς τέκτοσιν τῶν ξύλων καὶ τοῖς οἰκοδόμοις τοῖς ποιοῦσιν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου

13 καὶ τοῖς τειχισταῖς καὶ τοῖς λατόμοις τῶν λίθων τοῦ κτήσασθαι ξύλα καὶ λίθους λατομητοὺς τοῦ κατασχεῖν τὸ βεδεκ οἴκου κυρίου εἰς πάντα ὅσα ἐξωδιάσθη ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ κραταιῶσαι

14 πλὴν οὐ ποιηθήσεται οἴκῳ κυρίου θύραι ἀργυραῖ ἧλοι φιάλαι καὶ σάλπιγγες πᾶν σκεῦος χρυσοῦν καὶ σκεῦος ἀργυροῦν ἐκ τοῦ ἀργυρίου τοῦ εἰσενεχθέντος ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου

15 ὅτι τοῖς ποιοῦσιν τὰ ἔργα δώσουσιν αὐτό καὶ ἐκραταίωσαν ἐν αὐτῷ τὸν οἶκον κυρίου

16 καὶ οὐκ ἐξελογίζοντο τοὺς ἄνδρας οἷς ἐδίδουν τὸ ἀργύριον ἐπὶ χεῖρας αὐτῶν δοῦναι τοῖς ποιοῦσιν τὰ ἔργα ὅτι ἐν πίστει αὐτῶν ποιοῦσιν

17 ἀργύριον περὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ ἀργύριον περὶ πλημμελείας ὅ τι εἰσηνέχθη ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν ἐγένετο

18 τότε ἀνέβη Αζαηλ βασιλεὺς Συρίας καὶ ἐπολέμησεν ἐπὶ Γεθ καὶ προκατελάβετο αὐτήν καὶ ἔταξεν Αζαηλ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἀναβῆναι ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ

19 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ιωας βασιλεὺς Ιουδα πάντα τὰ ἅγια ὅσα ἡγίασεν Ιωσαφατ καὶ Ιωραμ καὶ Οχοζιας οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ καὶ βασιλεῖς Ιουδα καὶ τὰ ἅγια αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶν τὸ χρυσίον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν θησαυροῖς οἴκου κυρίου καὶ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τῷ Αζαηλ βασιλεῖ Συρίας καὶ ἀνέβη ἀπὸ Ιερουσαλημ

20 καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ τῶν λόγων Ιωας καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν οὐκ ἰδοὺ ταῦτα γεγραμμένα ἐπὶ βιβλίῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερῶν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν Ιουδα

21 καὶ ἀνέστησαν οἱ δοῦλοι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδησαν πάντα σύνδεσμον καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὸν Ιωας ἐν οἴκῳ Μαλλω τῷ ἐν Γααλλα

22 καὶ Ιεζιχαρ υἱὸς Ιεμουαθ καὶ Ιεζεβουθ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Σωμηρ οἱ δοῦλοι αὐτοῦ ἐπάταξαν αὐτόν καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ ἐν πόλει Δαυιδ καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Αμεσσιας υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ᾽ αὐτοῦ

‎1 ‏בֶּן־שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִ֖ים יְהוֹאָ֥שׁ בְּמָלְכֽוֹ׃ פ

‎2 ‏בִּשְׁנַת־שֶׁ֤בַע לְיֵהוּא֙ מָלַ֣ךְ יְהוֹאָ֔שׁ וְאַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ צִבְיָ֖ה מִבְּאֵ֥ר שָֽׁבַע׃

‎3 ‏וַיַּ֨עַשׂ יְהוֹאָ֧שׁ הַיָּשָׁ֛ר בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה כָּל־יָמָ֑יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר הוֹרָ֔הוּ יְהוֹיָדָ֖ע הַכֹּהֵֽן׃

‎4 ‏רַ֥ק הַבָּמ֖וֹת לֹא־סָ֑רוּ ע֥וֹד הָעָ֛ם מְזַבְּחִ֥ים וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים בַּבָּמֽוֹת׃

‎5 ‏וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹאָ֜שׁ אֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים כֹּל֩ כֶּ֨סֶף הַקֳּדָשִׁ֜ים אֲשֶׁר־יוּבָ֤א בֵית־יְהוָה֙ כֶּ֣סֶף עוֹבֵ֔ר אִ֕ישׁ כֶּ֥סֶף נַפְשׁ֖וֹת עֶרְכּ֑וֹ כָּל־כֶּ֗סֶף אֲשֶׁ֤ר יַֽעֲלֶה֙ עַ֣ל לֶב־אִ֔ישׁ לְהָבִ֖יא בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

‎6 ‏יִקְח֤וּ לָהֶם֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים אִ֖ישׁ מֵאֵ֣ת מַכָּר֑וֹ וְהֵ֗ם יְחַזְּקוּ֙ אֶת־בֶּ֣דֶק הַבַּ֔יִת לְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יִמָּצֵ֥א שָׁ֖ם בָּֽדֶק׃ פ

‎7 ‏וַיְהִ֗י בִּשְׁנַ֨ת עֶשְׂרִ֧ים וְשָׁלֹ֛שׁ שָׁנָ֖ה לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ יְהוֹאָ֑שׁ לֹֽא־חִזְּק֥וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים אֶת־בֶּ֥דֶק הַבָּֽיִת׃

‎8 ‏וַיִּקְרָא֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ יְהוֹאָ֜שׁ לִיהוֹיָדָ֤ע הַכֹּהֵן֙ וְלַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם מַדּ֛וּעַ אֵינְכֶ֥ם מְחַזְּקִ֖ים אֶת־בֶּ֣דֶק הַבָּ֑יִת וְעַתָּ֗ה אַל־תִּקְחוּ־כֶ֙סֶף֙ מֵאֵ֣ת מַכָּֽרֵיכֶ֔ם כִּֽי־לְבֶ֥דֶק הַבַּ֖יִת תִּתְּנֻֽהוּ׃

‎9 ‏וַיֵּאֹ֖תוּ הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֑ים לְבִלְתִּ֤י קְחַת־כֶּ֙סֶף֙ מֵאֵ֣ת הָעָ֔ם וּלְבִלְתִּ֥י חַזֵּ֖ק אֶת־בֶּ֥דֶק הַבָּֽיִת׃

‎10 ‏וַיִּקַּ֞ח יְהוֹיָדָ֤ע הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֲר֣וֹן אֶחָ֔ד וַיִּקֹּ֥ב חֹ֖ר בְּדַלְתּ֑וֹ וַיִּתֵּ֣ן אֹתוֹ֩ אֵ֨צֶל הַמִּזְבֵּ֜חַ בימין מִיָּמִ֗ין בְּבֽוֹא־אִישׁ֙ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה וְנָֽתְנוּ־שָׁ֤מָּה הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ שֹׁמְרֵ֣י הַסַּ֔ף אֶת־כָּל־הַכֶּ֖סֶף הַמּוּבָ֥א בֵית־יְהוָֽה׃

‎11 ‏וַֽיְהִי֙ כִּרְאוֹתָ֔ם כִּֽי־רַ֥ב הַכֶּ֖סֶף בָּֽאָר֑וֹן וַיַּ֨עַל סֹפֵ֤ר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וְהַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּד֔וֹל וַיָּצֻ֙רוּ֙ וַיִּמְנ֔וּ אֶת־הַכֶּ֖סֶף הַנִּמְצָ֥א בֵית־יְהוָֽה׃

‎12 ‏וְנָתְנוּ֙ אֶת־הַכֶּ֣סֶף הַֽמְתֻכָּ֔ן עַל־יד יְדֵי֙ עֹשֵׂ֣י הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה הפקדים הַמֻּפְקָדִ֖ים בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וַיּוֹצִיאֻ֜הוּ לְחָרָשֵׁ֤י הָעֵץ֙ וְלַבֹּנִ֔ים הָעֹשִׂ֖ים בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

‎13 ‏וְלַגֹּֽדְרִים֙ וּלְחֹצְבֵ֣י הָאֶ֔בֶן וְלִקְנ֤וֹת עֵצִים֙ וְאַבְנֵ֣י מַחְצֵ֔ב לְחַזֵּ֖ק אֶת־בֶּ֣דֶק בֵּית־יְהוָ֑ה וּלְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵ֥א עַל־הַבַּ֖יִת לְחָזְקָֽה׃

‎14 ‏אַךְ֩ לֹ֨א יֵעָשֶׂ֜ה בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֗ה סִפּ֥וֹת כֶּ֙סֶף֙ מְזַמְּר֤וֹת מִזְרָקוֹת֙ חֲצֹ֣צְר֔וֹת כָּל־כְּלִ֥י זָהָ֖ב וּכְלִי־כָ֑סֶף מִן־הַכֶּ֖סֶף הַמּוּבָ֥א בֵית־יְהוָֽה׃

‎15 ‏כִּֽי־לְעֹשֵׂ֥י הַמְּלָאכָ֖ה יִתְּנֻ֑הוּ וְחִזְּקוּ־ב֖וֹ אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

‎16 ‏וְלֹ֧א יְחַשְּׁב֣וּ אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִתְּנ֤וּ אֶת־הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ עַל־יָדָ֔ם לָתֵ֖ת לְעֹשֵׂ֣י הַמְּלָאכָ֑ה כִּ֥י בֶאֱמֻנָ֖ה הֵ֥ם עֹשִֽׂים׃

‎17 ‏כֶּ֤סֶף אָשָׁם֙ וְכֶ֣סֶף חַטָּא֔וֹת לֹ֥א יוּבָ֖א בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים יִהְיֽוּ׃ פ

‎18 ‏אָ֣ז יַעֲלֶ֗ה חֲזָאֵל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם וַיִּלָּ֥חֶם עַל־גַּ֖ת וַֽיִּלְכְּדָ֑הּ וַיָּ֤שֶׂם חֲזָאֵל֙ פָּנָ֔יו לַעֲל֖וֹת עַל־יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

‎19 ‏וַיִּקַּ֞ח יְהוֹאָ֣שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֗ה אֵ֣ת כָּל־הַקֳּדָשִׁ֡ים אֲשֶׁר־הִקְדִּ֣ישׁוּ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֣ט וִיהוֹרָם֩ וַאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ אֲבֹתָ֜יו מַלְכֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ וְאֶת־קֳדָשָׁ֔יו וְאֵ֣ת כָּל־הַזָּהָ֗ב הַנִּמְצָ֛א בְּאֹצְר֥וֹת בֵּית־יְהוָ֖ה וּבֵ֣ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח לַֽחֲזָאֵל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם וַיַּ֖עַל מֵעַ֥ל יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

‎20 ‏וְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י יוֹאָ֖שׁ וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הֲלוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃

‎21 ‏וַיָּקֻ֥מוּ עֲבָדָ֖יו וַיִּקְשְׁרֽוּ־קָ֑שֶׁר וַיַּכּוּ֙ אֶת־יוֹאָ֔שׁ בֵּ֥ית מִלֹּ֖א הַיּוֹרֵ֥ד סִלָּֽא׃

‎22 ‏וְיוֹזָבָ֣ד בֶּן־שִׁ֠מְעָת וִיהוֹזָבָ֨ד בֶּן־שֹׁמֵ֤ר׀ עֲבָדָיו֙ הִכֻּ֣הוּ וַיָּמֹ֔ת וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ אֹת֛וֹ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֖יו בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֑ד וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲמַצְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ פ

Vul

1 Anno septimo Jehu, regnavit Joas: et quadraginta annis regnavit in Jerusalem. Nomen matris ejus Sebia de Bersabee.

2 Fecitque Joas rectum coram Domino cunctis diebus quibus docuit eum Jojada sacerdos.

3 Verumtamen excelsa non abstulit: adhuc enim populus immolabat, et adolebat in excelsis incensum.

4 Dixitque Joas ad sacerdotes: Omnem pecuniam sanctorum, quæ illata fuerit in templum Domini a prætereuntibus, quæ offertur pro pretio animæ, et quam sponte et arbitrio cordis sui inferunt in templum Domini:

5 accipiant illam sacerdotes juxta ordinem suum, et instaurent sartatecta domus, si quid necessarium viderint instauratione.

6 Igitur usque ad vigesimum tertium annum regis Joas, non instauraverunt sacerdotes sartatecta templi.

7 Vocavitque rex Joas Jojadam pontificem et sacerdotes, dicens eis: Quare sartatecta non instauratis templi? nolite ergo amplius accipere pecuniam juxta ordinem vestrum, sed ad instaurationem templi reddite eam.

8 Prohibitique sunt sacerdotes ultra accipere pecuniam a populo, et instaurare sartatecta domus.

9 Et tulit Jojada pontifex gazophylacium unum, aperuitque foramen desuper, et posuit illud juxta altare ad dexteram ingredientium domum Domini: mittebantque in eo sacerdotes qui custodiebant ostia, omnem pecuniam quæ deferebatur ad templum Domini.

10 Cumque viderent nimiam pecuniam esse in gazophylacio, ascendebat scriba regis, et pontifex, effundebantque et numerabant pecuniam quæ inveniebatur in domo Domini:

11 et dabant eam juxta numerum atque mensuram in manu eorum qui præerant cæmentariis domus Domini: qui impendebant eam in fabris lignorum et in cæmentariis, iis qui operabantur in domo Domini,

12 et sartatecta faciebant: et in iis qui cædebant saxa, et ut emerent ligna, et lapides, qui excidebantur, ita ut impleretur instauratio domus Domini in universis quæ indigebant expensa ad muniendam domum.

13 Verumtamen non fiebant ex eadem pecunia hydriæ templi Domini, et fuscinulæ, et thuribula, et tubæ, et omne vas aureum et argenteum, de pecunia quæ inferebatur in templum Domini.

14 Iis enim qui faciebant opus, dabatur ut instauraretur templum Domini:

15 et non fiebat ratio iis hominibus qui accipiebant pecuniam ut distribuerent eam artificibus, sed in fide tractabant eam.

16 Pecuniam vero pro delicto, et pecuniam pro peccatis non inferebant in templum Domini, quia sacerdotum erat.

17 Tunc ascendit Hazaël rex Syriæ, et pugnabat contra Geth, cepitque eam: et direxit faciem suam ut ascenderet in Jerusalem.

18 Quam ob rem tulit Joas rex Juda omnia sanctificata quæ consecraverant Josaphat, et Joram, et Ochozias, patres ejus reges Juda, et quæ ipse obtulerat: et universum argentum quod inveniri potuit in thesauris templi Domini et in palatio regis: misitque Hazaëli regi Syriæ, et recessit ab Jerusalem.

19 Reliqua autem sermonum Joas, et universa quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Juda?

20 Surrexerunt autem servi ejus, et conjuraverunt inter se, percusseruntque Joas in domo Mello in descensu Sella.

21 Josachar namque filius Semaath, et Jozabad filius Somer servi ejus, percusserunt eum, et mortuus est: et sepelierunt eum cum patribus suis in civitate David: regnavitque Amasias filius ejus pro eo.
