1  And Joshua³⁰⁹¹ rose early⁷⁹²⁵ in the morning;¹²⁴² and they removed⁵²⁶⁵ from Shittim,^{4480 7851} and came⁹³⁵ to⁵⁷⁰⁴ Jordan,³³⁸³ he¹⁹³¹ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the children¹¹²¹ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ and lodged³⁸⁸⁵ there⁸⁰³³ before²⁹⁶² they passed over.⁵⁶⁷⁴

2  And it came to pass¹⁹⁶¹ after^{4480 7097} three⁷⁹⁶⁹ days,³¹¹⁷ that the officers⁷⁸⁶⁰ went⁵⁶⁷⁴ through⁷¹³⁰ the host;⁴²⁶⁴

3  And they commanded^{6680 853} the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ saying,⁵⁵⁹ When ye see^{7200 853} the ark⁷²⁷ of the covenant¹²⁸⁵ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ your God,⁴³⁰ and the priests³⁵⁴⁸ the Levites³⁸⁸¹ bearing⁵³⁷⁵ it, then ye⁸⁵⁹ shall remove⁵²⁶⁵ from your place,^{4480 4725} and go¹⁹⁸⁰ after³¹⁰ it.

4  Yet³⁸⁹ there shall be¹⁹⁶¹ a space⁷³⁵⁰ between⁹⁹⁶ you and it, about two thousand⁵⁰⁵ cubits⁵²⁰ by measure:⁴⁰⁶⁰ come not near^{408 7126} unto⁴¹³ it, that^{4616 834} ye may know^{3045 853} the way¹⁸⁷⁰ by which⁸³⁴ ye must go:¹⁹⁸⁰ for³⁵⁸⁸ ye have not³⁸⁰⁸ passed⁵⁶⁷⁴ this way¹⁸⁷⁰ heretofore.^{4480 8543 8032}

5  And Joshua³⁰⁹¹ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ Sanctify yourselves:⁶⁹⁴² for³⁵⁸⁸ tomorrow⁴²⁷⁹ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ will do⁶²¹³ wonders⁶³⁸¹ among⁷¹³⁰ you.

6  And Joshua³⁰⁹¹ spoke⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ the priests,³⁵⁴⁸ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Take up^{5375 853} the ark⁷²⁷ of the covenant,¹²⁸⁵ and pass over⁵⁶⁷⁴ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the people.⁵⁹⁷¹ And they took up^{5375 853} the ark⁷²⁷ of the covenant,¹²⁸⁵ and went¹⁹⁸⁰ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the people.⁵⁹⁷¹

7  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Joshua,³⁰⁹¹ This²⁰⁸⁸ day³¹¹⁷ will I begin²⁴⁹⁰ to magnify¹⁴³¹ thee in the sight⁵⁸⁶⁹ of all³⁶⁰⁵ Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ that⁸³⁴ they may know³⁰⁴⁵ that,³⁵⁸⁸ as⁸³⁴ I was¹⁹⁶¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ Moses,⁴⁸⁷² so I will be¹⁹⁶¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ thee.

8  And thou⁸⁵⁹ shalt command^{6680 853} the priests³⁵⁴⁸ that bear⁵³⁷⁵ the ark⁷²⁷ of the covenant,¹²⁸⁵ saying,⁵⁵⁹ When ye are come⁹³⁵ to⁵⁷⁰⁴ the brink⁷⁰⁹⁷ of the water⁴³²⁵ of Jordan,³³⁸³ ye shall stand still⁵⁹⁷⁵ in Jordan.³³⁸³

9  And Joshua³⁰⁹¹ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ the children¹¹²¹ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ Come⁵⁰⁶⁶ hither,²⁰⁰⁸ and hear^{8085 853} the words¹⁶⁹⁷ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ your God.⁴³⁰

10  And Joshua³⁰⁹¹ said,⁵⁵⁹ Hereby²⁰⁶³ ye shall know³⁰⁴⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ the living²⁴¹⁶ God⁴¹⁰ is among⁷¹³⁰ you, and that he will without fail drive out^{3423 3423} from before^{4480 6440} you ⁸⁵³ the Canaanites,³⁶⁶⁹ and the Hittites,²⁸⁵⁰ and the Hivites,²³⁴⁰ and the Perizzites,⁶⁵²² and the Girgashites,¹⁶²² and the Amorites,⁵⁶⁷ and the Jebusites.²⁹⁸³

11  Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ the ark⁷²⁷ of the covenant¹²⁸⁵ of the Lord¹¹³ of all³⁶⁰⁵ the earth⁷⁷⁶ passeth over⁵⁶⁷⁴ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ you into Jordan.³³⁸³

12  Now⁶²⁵⁸ therefore take³⁹⁴⁷ you twelve^{8147 6240} men³⁷⁶ out of the tribes^{4480 7626} of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ out of every tribe a man.^{376 259 376 259 7626}

13  And it shall come to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ as soon as the soles³⁷⁰⁹ of the feet⁷²⁷² of the priests³⁵⁴⁸ that bear⁵³⁷⁵ the ark⁷²⁷ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ the Lord¹¹³ of all³⁶⁰⁵ the earth,⁷⁷⁶ shall rest⁵¹¹⁷ in the waters⁴³²⁵ of Jordan,³³⁸³ that the waters⁴³²⁵ of Jordan³³⁸³ shall be cut off³⁷⁷² from the waters⁴³²⁵ that come down³³⁸¹ from above;^{4480 4605} and they shall stand⁵⁹⁷⁵ upon a²⁵⁹ heap.⁵⁰⁶⁷

14  And it came to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ when the people⁵⁹⁷¹ removed⁵²⁶⁵ from their tents,^{4480 168} to pass over^{5674 853} Jordan,³³⁸³ and the priests³⁵⁴⁸ bearing⁵³⁷⁵ the ark⁷²⁷ of the covenant¹²⁸⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the people;⁵⁹⁷¹

15  And as they that bore⁵³⁷⁵ the ark⁷²⁷ were come⁹³⁵ unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ Jordan,³³⁸³ and the feet⁷²⁷² of the priests³⁵⁴⁸ that bore⁵³⁷⁵ the ark⁷²⁷ were dipped²⁸⁸¹ in the brim⁷⁰⁹⁷ of the water,⁴³²⁵ (for Jordan³³⁸³ overfloweth^{4390 5921} all³⁶⁰⁵ his banks¹⁴¹⁵ all³⁶⁰⁵ the time³¹¹⁷ of harvest,)⁷¹⁰⁵

16  That the waters⁴³²⁵ which came down³³⁸¹ from above^{4480 4605} stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ and rose up⁶⁹⁶⁵ upon a²⁵⁹ heap⁵⁰⁶⁷ very³⁹⁶⁶ far⁷³⁶⁸ from the city⁵⁸⁹² Adam,^{4480 121} that⁸³⁴ is beside^{4480 6654} Zaretan:⁶⁸⁹¹ and those that came down³³⁸¹ toward⁵⁹²¹ the sea³²²⁰ of the plain,⁶¹⁶⁰ even the salt⁴⁴¹⁷ sea,³²²⁰ failed,⁸⁵⁵² and were cut off:³⁷⁷² and the people⁵⁹⁷¹ passed over⁵⁶⁷⁴ right against⁵⁰⁴⁸ Jericho.³⁴⁰⁵

17  And the priests³⁵⁴⁸ that bore⁵³⁷⁵ the ark⁷²⁷ of the covenant¹²⁸⁵ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ firm³⁵⁵⁹ on dry ground²⁷²⁴ in the midst⁸⁴³² of Jordan,³³⁸³ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the Israelites³⁴⁷⁸ passed over⁵⁶⁷⁴ on dry ground,²⁷²⁴ until^{5704 834} all³⁶⁰⁵ the people¹⁴⁷¹ were passed⁵⁶⁷⁴ clean⁸⁵⁵² over^{5674 853} Jordan.³³⁸³

1 καὶ ὤρθρισεν Ἰησοῦς τὸ πρωί καὶ ἀπῆραν ἐκ Σαττιν καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἕως τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ κατέλυσαν ἐκεῖ πρὸ τοῦ διαβῆναι

2 καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας διῆλθον οἱ γραμματεῖς διὰ τῆς παρεμβολῆς

3 καὶ ἐνετείλαντο τῷ λαῷ λέγοντες ὅταν ἴδητε τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἡμῶν καὶ τοὺς Λευίτας αἴροντας αὐτήν ἀπαρεῖτε ἀπὸ τῶν τόπων ὑμῶν καὶ πορεύεσθε ὀπίσω αὐτῆς

4 ἀλλὰ μακρὰν ἔστω ἀνὰ μέσον ὑμῶν καὶ ἐκείνης ὅσον δισχιλίους πήχεις στήσεσθε μὴ προσεγγίσητε αὐτῇ ἵν᾽ ἐπίστησθε τὴν ὁδόν ἣν πορεύεσθε αὐτήν οὐ γὰρ πεπόρευσθε τὴν ὁδὸν ἀπ᾽ ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτης ἡμέρας

5 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τῷ λαῷ ἁγνίσασθε εἰς αὔριον ὅτι αὔριον ποιήσει ἐν ὑμῖν κύριος θαυμαστά

6 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν ἄρατε τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ προπορεύεσθε τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ἦραν οἱ ἱερεῖς τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ ἐπορεύοντο ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ λαοῦ

7 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ ἄρχομαι ὑψῶσαί σε κατενώπιον πάντων υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἵνα γνῶσιν καθότι ἤμην μετὰ Μωυσῆ οὕτως ἔσομαι καὶ μετὰ σοῦ

8 καὶ νῦν ἔντειλαι τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν τοῖς αἴρουσιν τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης λέγων ὡς ἂν εἰσέλθητε ἐπὶ μέρους τοῦ ὕδατος τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἐν τῷ Ιορδάνῃ στήσεσθε

9 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ προσαγάγετε ὧδε καὶ ἀκούσατε τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν

10 ἐν τούτῳ γνώσεσθε ὅτι θεὸς ζῶν ἐν ὑμῖν καὶ ὀλεθρεύων ὀλεθρεύσει ἀπὸ προσώπου ἡμῶν τὸν Χαναναῖον καὶ τὸν Χετταῖον καὶ τὸν Φερεζαῖον καὶ τὸν Ευαῖον καὶ τὸν Αμορραῖον καὶ τὸν Γεργεσαῖον καὶ τὸν Ιεβουσαῖον

11 ἰδοὺ ἡ κιβωτὸς διαθήκης κυρίου πάσης τῆς γῆς διαβαίνει τὸν Ιορδάνην

12 προχειρίσασθε ὑμῖν δώδεκα ἄνδρας ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἕνα ἀφ᾽ ἑκάστης φυλῆς

13 καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν καταπαύσωσιν οἱ πόδες τῶν ἱερέων τῶν αἰρόντων τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου πάσης τῆς γῆς ἐν τῷ ὕδατι τοῦ Ιορδάνου τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐκλείψει τὸ δὲ ὕδωρ τὸ καταβαῖνον στήσεται

14 καὶ ἀπῆρεν ὁ λαὸς ἐκ τῶν σκηνωμάτων αὐτῶν διαβῆναι τὸν Ιορδάνην οἱ δὲ ἱερεῖς ἤροσαν τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου πρότεροι τοῦ λαοῦ

15 ὡς δὲ εἰσεπορεύοντο οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ αἴροντες τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης ἐπὶ τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ οἱ πόδες τῶν ἱερέων τῶν αἰρόντων τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου ἐβάφησαν εἰς μέρος τοῦ ὕδατος τοῦ Ιορδάνου ὁ δὲ Ιορδάνης ἐπλήρου καθ᾽ ὅλην τὴν κρηπῖδα αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ ἡμέραι θερισμοῦ πυρῶν

16 καὶ ἔστη τὰ ὕδατα τὰ καταβαίνοντα ἄνωθεν ἔστη πῆγμα ἓν ἀφεστηκὸς μακρὰν σφόδρα σφοδρῶς ἕως μέρους Καριαθιαριμ τὸ δὲ καταβαῖνον κατέβη εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν Αραβα θάλασσαν ἁλός ἕως εἰς τὸ τέλος ἐξέλιπεν καὶ ὁ λαὸς εἱστήκει ἀπέναντι Ιεριχω

17 καὶ ἔστησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ αἴροντες τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου ἐπὶ ξηρᾶς ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ διέβαινον διὰ ξηρᾶς ἕως συνετέλεσεν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς διαβαίνων τὸν Ιορδάνην

‎2 ‏וַיְהִ֕י מִקְצֵ֖ה שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֑ים וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ הַשֹּׁטְרִ֖ים בְּקֶ֥רֶב הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

‎3 ‏וַיְצַוּוּ֮ אֶת־הָעָ֣ם לֵאמֹר֒ כִּרְאֽוֹתְכֶ֗ם אֵ֣ת אֲר֤וֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם וְהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם נֹשְׂאִ֖ים אֹת֑וֹ וְאַתֶּ֗ם תִּסְעוּ֙ מִמְּק֣וֹמְכֶ֔ם וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֖ם אַחֲרָֽיו׃

‎4 ‏אַ֣ךְ׀ רָח֣וֹק יִהְיֶ֗ה בֵּֽינֵיכֶם֙ ובינו וּבֵינָ֔יו כְּאַלְפַּ֥יִם אַמָּ֖ה בַּמִּדָּ֑ה אַֽל־תִּקְרְב֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו לְמַ֤עַן אֲשֶׁר־תֵּֽדְעוּ֙ אֶת־הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֵּֽלְכוּ־בָ֔הּ כִּ֣י לֹ֧א עֲבַרְתֶּ֛ם בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ מִתְּמ֥וֹל שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃ ס

‎5 ‏וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶל־הָעָ֖ם הִתְקַדָּ֑שׁוּ כִּ֣י מָחָ֗ר יַעֲשֶׂ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֖ם נִפְלָאֽוֹת׃

‎6 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ אֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים לֵאמֹ֔ר שְׂאוּ֙ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן הַבְּרִ֔ית וְעִבְר֖וּ לִפְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן הַבְּרִ֔ית וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הָעָֽם׃ ס

‎7 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֗ה אָחֵל֙ גַּדֶּלְךָ֔ בְּעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁר֙ יֵֽדְע֔וּן כִּ֗י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיִ֛יתִי עִם־מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶהְיֶ֥ה עִמָּֽךְ׃

‎8 ‏וְאַתָּ֗ה תְּצַוֶּה֙ אֶת־הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים נֹשְׂאֵ֥י אֲרֽוֹן־הַבְּרִ֖ית לֵאמֹ֑ר כְּבֹאֲכֶ֗ם עַד־קְצֵה֙ מֵ֣י הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן בַּיַּרְדֵּ֖ן תַּעֲמֹֽדוּ׃ פ

‎9 ‏וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל גֹּ֣שׁוּ הֵ֔נָּה וְשִׁמְע֕וּ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃

‎10 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ בְּזֹאת֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּן כִּ֛י אֵ֥ל חַ֖י בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וְהוֹרֵ֣שׁ יוֹרִ֣ישׁ מִ֠פְּנֵיכֶם אֶת־הַכְּנַעֲנִ֨י וְאֶת־הַחִתִּ֜י וְאֶת־הַחִוִּ֗י וְאֶת־הַפְּרִזִּי֙ וְאֶת־הַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֔י וְהָאֱמֹרִ֖י וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

‎11 ‏הִנֵּה֙ אֲר֣וֹן הַבְּרִ֔ית אֲד֖וֹן כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ עֹבֵ֥ר לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם בַּיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

‎12 ‏וְעַתָּ֗ה קְח֤וּ לָכֶם֙ שְׁנֵ֣י עָשָׂ֣ר אִ֔ישׁ מִשִּׁבְטֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אִישׁ־אֶחָ֥ד אִישׁ־אֶחָ֖ד לַשָּֽׁבֶט׃

‎13 ‏וְהָיָ֡ה כְּנ֣וֹחַ כַּפּ֣וֹת רַגְלֵ֣י הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים נֹשְׂאֵי֩ אֲר֨וֹן יְהוָ֜ה אֲד֤וֹן כָּל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ בְּמֵ֣י הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן מֵ֤י הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ יִכָּ֣רֵת֔וּן הַמַּ֥יִם הַיֹּרְדִ֖ים מִלְמָ֑עְלָה וְיַעַמְד֖וּ נֵ֥ד אֶחָֽד׃

‎14 ‏וַיְהִ֗י בִּנְסֹ֤עַ הָעָם֙ מֵאָ֣הֳלֵיהֶ֔ם לַעֲבֹ֖ר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים נֹֽשְׂאֵ֛י הָאָר֥וֹן הַבְּרִ֖ית לִפְנֵ֥י הָעָֽם׃

‎15 ‏וּכְב֞וֹא נֹשְׂאֵ֤י הָֽאָרוֹן֙ עַד־הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וְרַגְלֵ֤י הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ נֹשְׂאֵ֣י הָֽאָר֔וֹן נִטְבְּל֖וּ בִּקְצֵ֣ה הַמָּ֑יִם וְהַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן מָלֵא֙ עַל־כָּל־גְּדוֹתָ֔יו כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י קָצִֽיר׃

‎16 ‏וַיַּעַמְד֡וּ הַמַּיִם֩ הַיֹּרְדִ֨ים מִלְמַ֜עְלָה קָ֣מוּ נֵד־אֶחָ֗ד הַרְחֵ֨ק מְאֹ֜ד באדם מֵֽאָדָ֤ם הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ מִצַּ֣ד צָֽרְתָ֔ן וְהַיֹּרְדִ֗ים עַ֣ל יָ֧ם הָעֲרָבָ֛ה יָם־הַמֶּ֖לַח תַּ֣מּוּ נִכְרָ֑תוּ וְהָעָ֥ם עָבְר֖וּ נֶ֥גֶד יְרִיחֽוֹ׃

‎17 ‏וַיַּעַמְד֣וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים נֹ֠שְׂאֵי הָאָר֨וֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָ֜ה בֶּחָֽרָבָ֛ה בְּת֥וֹךְ הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן הָכֵ֑ן וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל עֹֽבְרִים֙ בֶּחָ֣רָבָ֔ה עַ֤ד אֲשֶׁר־תַּ֙מּוּ֙ כָּל־הַגּ֔וֹי לַעֲבֹ֖ר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

1 Igitur Josue de nocte consurgens movit castra: egredientesque de Setim, venerunt ad Jordanem ipse et omnes filii Israël, et morati sunt ibi tres dies.

2 Quibus evolutis transierunt præcones per castrorum medium,

3 et clamare cœperunt: Quando videritis arcam fœderis Domini Dei vestri, et sacerdotes stirpis Leviticæ portantes eam, vos quoque consurgite, et sequimini præcedentes:

4 sitque inter vos et arcam spatium cubitorum duum millium: ut procul videre possitis, et nosse per quam viam ingrediamini: quia prius non ambulastis per eam: et cavete ne appropinquetis ad arcam.

5 Dixitque Josue ad populum: Sanctificamini: cras enim faciet Dominus inter vos mirabilia.

6 Et ait ad sacerdotes: Tollite arcam fœderis, et præcedite populum. Qui jussa complentes, tulerunt, et ambulaverunt ante eos.

7 Dixitque Dominus ad Josue: Hodie incipiam exaltare te coram omni Israël: ut sciant quod sicut cum Moyse fui, ita et tecum sim.

8 Tu autem præcipe sacerdotibus, qui portant arcam fœderis, et dic eis: Cum ingressi fueritis partem aquæ Jordanis, state in ea.

9 Dixitque Josue ad filios Israël: Accedite huc, et audite verbum Domini Dei vestri.

10 Et rursum: In hoc, inquit, scietis quod Dominus Deus vivens in medio vestri est, et disperdet in conspectu vestro Chananæum et Hethæum, Hevæum et Pherezæum, Gergesæum quoque et Jebusæum, et Amorrhæum.

11 Ecce arca fœderis Domini omnis terræ antecedet vos per Jordanem.

12 Parate duodecim viros de tribubus Israël, singulos per singulas tribus.

13 Et cum posuerint vestigia pedum suorum sacerdotes qui portant arcam Domini Dei universæ terræ in aquis Jordanis, aquæ quæ inferiores sunt, decurrent atque deficient: quæ autem desuper veniunt, in una mole consistent.

14 Igitur egressus est populus de tabernaculis suis, ut transiret Jordanem: et sacerdotes, qui portabant arcam fœderis, pergebant ante eum.

15 Ingressisque eis Jordanem, et pedibus eorum in parte aquæ tinctis (Jordanis autem ripas alvei sui tempore messis impleverat),

16 steterunt aquæ descendentes in loco uno, et ad instar montis intumescentes apparebant procul, ab urbe quæ vocatur Adom usque ad locum Sarthan: quæ autem inferiores erant, in mare Solitudinis (quod nunc vocatur Mortuum) descenderunt, usquequo omnino deficerent.

17 Populus autem incedebat contra Jericho: et sacerdotes qui portabant arcam fœderis Domini, stabant super siccam humum in medio Jordanis accincti, omnisque populus per arentem alveum transibat.
