1  And the men³⁷⁶ of Ephraim⁶⁶⁹ gathered themselves together,⁶⁸¹⁷ and went⁵⁶⁷⁴ northward,⁶⁸²⁸ and said⁵⁵⁹ unto Jephthah,³³¹⁶ Wherefore⁴⁰⁶⁹ passedst thou over⁵⁶⁷⁴ to fight³⁸⁹⁸ against the children¹¹²¹ of Ammon,⁵⁹⁸³ and didst not³⁸⁰⁸ call⁷¹²¹ us to go¹⁹⁸⁰ with⁵⁹⁷³ thee? we will burn⁸³¹³ thine house¹⁰⁰⁴ upon⁵⁹²¹ thee with fire.⁷⁸⁴

2  And Jephthah³³¹⁶ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ them, I⁵⁸⁹ and my people⁵⁹⁷¹ were¹⁹⁶¹ at great strife^{376 7379 3966} with the children¹¹²¹ of Ammon;⁵⁹⁸³ and when I called²¹⁹⁹ you, ye delivered³⁴⁶⁷ me not³⁸⁰⁸ out of their hands.^{4480 3027}

3  And when I saw⁷²⁰⁰ that³⁵⁸⁸ ye delivered³⁴⁶⁷ me not,³⁶⁹ I put⁷⁷⁶⁰ my life⁵³¹⁵ in my hands,³⁷⁰⁹ and passed over⁵⁶⁷⁴ against⁴¹³ the children¹¹²¹ of Ammon,⁵⁹⁸³ and the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ delivered⁵⁴¹⁴ them into my hand:³⁰²⁷ wherefore⁴¹⁰⁰ then are ye come up⁵⁹²⁷ unto⁴¹³ me this²⁰⁸⁸ day,³¹¹⁷ to fight³⁸⁹⁸ against me?

4  Then Jephthah³³¹⁶ gathered together^{6908 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the men³⁷⁶ of Gilead,¹⁵⁶⁸ and fought³⁸⁹⁸ with⁸⁵⁴ Ephraim:⁶⁶⁹ and the men³⁷⁶ of Gilead¹⁵⁶⁸ smote^{5221 853} Ephraim,⁶⁶⁹ because³⁵⁸⁸ they said,⁵⁵⁹ Ye⁸⁵⁹ Gileadites¹⁵⁶⁸ are fugitives⁶⁴¹² of Ephraim⁶⁶⁹ among⁸⁴³² the Ephraimites,⁶⁶⁹ and among⁸⁴³² the Manassites.⁴⁵¹⁹

5  And the Gileadites¹⁵⁶⁸ took^{3920 853} the passages⁴⁵⁶⁹ of Jordan³³⁸³ before the Ephraimites:⁶⁶⁹ and it was¹⁹⁶¹ so, that when³⁵⁸⁸ those Ephraimites⁶⁶⁹ which were escaped⁶⁴¹² said,⁵⁵⁹ Let me go over;⁵⁶⁷⁴ that the men³⁷⁶ of Gilead¹⁵⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, Art thou⁸⁵⁹ an Ephraimite?⁶⁷³ If he said,⁵⁵⁹ Nay;³⁸⁰⁸

6  Then said⁵⁵⁹ they unto him, Say⁵⁵⁹ now⁴⁹⁹⁴ Shibboleth:⁷⁶⁴¹ and he said⁵⁵⁹ Sibboleth:⁵⁴⁵¹ for he could not³⁸⁰⁸ frame³⁵⁵⁹ to pronounce¹⁶⁹⁶ it right.³⁶⁵¹ Then they took²⁷⁰ him, and slew⁷⁸¹⁹ him at⁴¹³ the passages⁴⁵⁶⁹ of Jordan:³³⁸³ and there fell⁵³⁰⁷ at that¹⁹³¹ time⁶²⁵⁶ of the Ephraimites^{4480 669} forty⁷⁰⁵ and two⁸¹⁴⁷ thousand.⁵⁰⁵

7  And Jephthah³³¹⁶ judged^{8199 853} Israel³⁴⁷⁸ six⁸³³⁷ years.⁸¹⁴¹ Then died⁴¹⁹¹ Jephthah³³¹⁶ the Gileadite,¹⁵⁶⁹ and was buried⁶⁹¹² in one of the cities⁵⁸⁹² of Gilead.¹⁵⁶⁸

8  And after³¹⁰ him Ibzan⁷⁸ of Bethlehem^{4480 1035} judged^{8199 853} Israel.³⁴⁷⁸

9  And he had¹⁹⁶¹ thirty⁷⁹⁷⁰ sons,¹¹²¹ and thirty⁷⁹⁷⁰ daughters,¹³²³ whom he sent⁷⁹⁷¹ abroad,²³⁵¹ and took in⁹³⁵ thirty⁷⁹⁷⁰ daughters¹³²³ from⁴⁴⁸⁰ abroad²³⁵¹ for his sons.¹¹²¹ And he judged^{8199 853} Israel³⁴⁷⁸ seven⁷⁶⁵¹ years.⁸¹⁴¹

10  Then died⁴¹⁹¹ Ibzan,⁷⁸ and was buried⁶⁹¹² at Bethlehem.¹⁰³⁵

11  And after³¹⁰ him Elon,³⁵⁶ a Zebulonite,²⁰⁷⁵ judged^{8199 853} Israel;³⁴⁷⁸ and he judged^{8199 853} Israel³⁴⁷⁸ ten⁶²³⁵ years.⁸¹⁴¹

12  And Elon³⁵⁶ the Zebulonite²⁰⁷⁵ died,⁴¹⁹¹ and was buried⁶⁹¹² in Aijalon³⁵⁷ in the country⁷⁷⁶ of Zebulun.²⁰⁷⁵

13  And after³¹⁰ him Abdon⁵⁶⁵⁸ the son¹¹²¹ of Hillel,¹⁹⁸⁵ a Pirathonite,⁶⁵⁵³ judged^{8199 853} Israel.³⁴⁷⁸

14  And he had¹⁹⁶¹ forty⁷⁰⁵ sons¹¹²¹ and thirty⁷⁹⁷⁰ nephews,^{1121 1121} that rode⁷³⁹² on⁵⁹²¹ threescore and ten⁷⁶⁵⁷ ass colts:⁵⁸⁹⁵ and he judged^{8199 853} Israel³⁴⁷⁸ eight⁸⁰⁸³ years.⁸¹⁴¹

15  And Abdon⁵⁶⁵⁸ the son¹¹²¹ of Hillel¹⁹⁸⁵ the Pirathonite⁶⁵⁵³ died,⁴¹⁹¹ and was buried⁶⁹¹² in Pirathon⁶⁵⁵² in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Ephraim,⁶⁶⁹ in the mount²⁰²² of the Amalekites.⁶⁰⁰³

1 καὶ ἐβόησεν ἀνὴρ Εφραιμ καὶ παρῆλθαν εἰς βορρᾶν καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Ιεφθαε διὰ τί παρῆλθες παρατάξασθαι ἐν υἱοῖς Αμμων καὶ ἡμᾶς οὐ κέκληκας πορευθῆναι μετὰ σοῦ τὸν οἶκόν σου ἐμπρήσομεν ἐπὶ σὲ ἐν πυρί

2 καὶ εἶπεν Ιεφθαε πρὸς αὐτούς ἀνὴρ μαχητὴς ἤμην ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ λαός μου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων σφόδρα καὶ ἐβόησα ὑμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἐσώσατέ με ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτῶν

3 καὶ εἶδον ὅτι οὐκ εἶ σωτήρ καὶ ἔθηκα τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐν χειρί μου καὶ παρῆλθον πρὸς υἱοὺς Αμμων καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος ἐν χειρί μου καὶ εἰς τί ἀνέβητε ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ παρατάξασθαι ἐν ἐμοί

4 καὶ συνέστρεψεν Ιεφθαε τοὺς πάντας ἄνδρας Γαλααδ καὶ παρετάξατο τῷ Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπάταξαν ἄνδρες Γαλααδ τὸν Εφραιμ ὅτι εἶπαν οἱ διασῳζόμενοι τοῦ Εφραιμ ὑμεῖς Γαλααδ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Εφραιμ καὶ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Μανασση

5 καὶ προκατελάβετο Γαλααδ τὰς διαβάσεις τοῦ Ιορδάνου τοῦ Εφραιμ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς οἱ διασῳζόμενοι Εφραιμ διαβῶμεν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς οἱ ἄνδρες Γαλααδ μὴ Εφραθίτης εἶ καὶ εἶπεν οὔ

6 καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ εἰπὸν δὴ στάχυς καὶ οὐ κατεύθυνεν τοῦ λαλῆσαι οὕτως καὶ ἐπελάβοντο αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθυσαν αὐτὸν πρὸς τὰς διαβάσεις τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἀπὸ Εφραιμ τεσσαράκοντα δύο χιλιάδες

7 καὶ ἔκρινεν Ιεφθαε τὸν Ισραηλ ἑξήκοντα ἔτη καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ιεφθαε ὁ Γαλααδίτης καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν πόλει αὐτοῦ ἐν Γαλααδ

8 καὶ ἔκρινεν μετ᾽ αὐτὸν τὸν Ισραηλ Αβαισαν ἀπὸ Βαιθλεεμ

9 καὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ τριάκοντα υἱοὶ καὶ τριάκοντα θυγατέρες ἃς ἐξαπέστειλεν ἔξω καὶ τριάκοντα θυγατέρας εἰσήνεγκεν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ ἔξωθεν καὶ ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ ἑπτὰ ἔτη

10 καὶ ἀπέθανεν Αβαισαν καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν Βαιθλεεμ

11 καὶ ἔκρινεν μετ᾽ αὐτὸν τὸν Ισραηλ Αιλωμ ὁ Ζαβουλωνίτης δέκα ἔτη

12 καὶ ἀπέθανεν Αιλωμ ὁ Ζαβουλωνίτης καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν Αιλωμ ἐν γῇ Ζαβουλων

13 καὶ ἔκρινεν μετ᾽ αὐτὸν τὸν Ισραηλ Αβδων υἱὸς Ελληλ ὁ Φαραθωνίτης

14 καὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ τεσσαράκοντα υἱοὶ καὶ τριάκοντα υἱῶν υἱοὶ ἐπιβαίνοντες ἐπὶ ἑβδομήκοντα πώλους καὶ ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ ὀκτὼ ἔτη

15 καὶ ἀπέθανεν Αβδων υἱὸς Ελληλ ὁ Φαραθωνίτης καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν Φαραθωμ ἐν γῇ Εφραιμ ἐν ὄρει τοῦ Αμαληκ

1 καὶ συνήχθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Εφραιμ καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Σεφινα καὶ εἶπον πρὸς Ιεφθαε τί ὅτι ἐπορεύθης πολεμεῖν ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς Αμμων καὶ ἡμᾶς οὐ κέκληκας πορευθῆναι μετὰ σοῦ τὸν οἶκόν σου ἐμπρήσομεν ἐν πυρί

2 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ιεφθαε ἀνὴρ ἀντιδικῶν ἤμην ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ λαός μου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων ἐταπείνουν με σφόδρα καὶ ἐβόησα πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἐσώσατέ με ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτῶν

3 καὶ εἶδον ὅτι οὐκ ἦν ὁ σῴζων καὶ ἐθέμην τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐν τῇ χειρί μου καὶ διέβην πρὸς τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος ἐν χειρί μου καὶ ἵνα τί ἀνέβητε πρός με τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ τοῦ πολεμεῖν ἐν ἐμοί

4 καὶ συνήθροισεν Ιεφθαε πάντας τοὺς ἄνδρας Γαλααδ καὶ ἐπολέμει τὸν Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπάταξαν ἄνδρες Γαλααδ τὸν Εφραιμ ὅτι εἶπαν οἱ διασεσῳσμένοι τοῦ Εφραιμ ὑμεῖς Γαλααδ ἐν μέσῳ Εφραιμ καὶ ἐν μέσῳ Μανασση

7 καὶ ἔκρινεν Ιεφθαε τὸν Ισραηλ ἓξ ἔτη καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ιεφθαε ὁ Γαλααδίτης καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν τῇ πόλει αὐτοῦ Γαλααδ

8 καὶ ἔκρινεν μετ᾽ αὐτὸν τὸν Ισραηλ Εσεβων ἐκ Βαιθλεεμ

9 καὶ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ τριάκοντα υἱοὶ καὶ τριάκοντα θυγατέρες ἐξαπεσταλμέναι ἔξω καὶ τριάκοντα γυναῖκας εἰσήγαγεν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ ἔξωθεν καὶ ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ ἑπτὰ ἔτη

10 καὶ ἀπέθανεν Εσεβων καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν Βηθλεεμ

11 καὶ ἔκρινεν μετ᾽ αὐτὸν τὸν Ισραηλ Αιλων ὁ Ζαβουλωνίτης καὶ ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ δέκα ἔτη

12 καὶ ἀπέθανεν Αιλων ὁ Ζαβουλωνίτης ἐν Αιλιμ καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἐν γῇ Ζαβουλων

13 καὶ ἔκρινεν μετ᾽ αὐτὸν τὸν Ισραηλ Λαβδων υἱὸς Σελλημ ὁ Φρααθωνίτης

14 καὶ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ τεσσαράκοντα υἱοὶ καὶ τριάκοντα υἱοὶ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ ἐπιβεβηκότες ἐπὶ ἑβδομήκοντα πώλους καὶ ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ ὀκτὼ ἔτη

15 καὶ ἀπέθανεν Λαβδων υἱὸς Σελλημ ὁ Φρααθωνίτης καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν Φρααθων ἐν γῇ Εφραιμ ἐν ὄρει Λανακ

‎1 ‏וַיִּצָּעֵק֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶפְרַ֔יִם וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֖ר צָפ֑וֹנָה וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ לְיִפְתָּ֜ח מַדּ֣וּעַ׀ עָבַ֣רְתָּ׀ לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם בִּבְנֵי־עַמּ֗וֹן וְלָ֙נוּ֙ לֹ֤א קָרָ֙אתָ֙ לָלֶ֣כֶת עִמָּ֔ךְ בֵּיתְךָ֕ נִשְׂרֹ֥ף עָלֶ֖יךָ בָּאֵֽשׁ׃

‎2 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִפְתָּח֙ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם אִ֣ישׁ רִ֗יב הָיִ֛יתִי אֲנִ֛י וְעַמִּ֥י וּבְנֵֽי־עַמּ֖וֹן מְאֹ֑ד וָאֶזְעַ֣ק אֶתְכֶ֔ם וְלֹֽא־הוֹשַׁעְתֶּ֥ם אוֹתִ֖י מִיָּדָֽם׃

‎3 ‏וָֽאֶרְאֶ֞ה כִּֽי־אֵינְךָ֣ מוֹשִׁ֗יעַ וָאָשִׂ֨ימָה נַפְשִׁ֤י בְכַפִּי֙ וָֽאֶעְבְּרָה֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וַיִּתְּנֵ֥ם יְהוָ֖ה בְּיָדִ֑י וְלָמָ֞ה עֲלִיתֶ֥ם אֵלַ֛י הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה לְהִלָּ֥חֶם בִּֽי׃

‎4 ‏וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ יִפְתָּח֙ אֶת־כָּל־אַנְשֵׁ֣י גִלְעָ֔ד וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם אֶת־אֶפְרָ֑יִם וַיַּכּוּ֩ אַנְשֵׁ֨י גִלְעָ֜ד אֶת־אֶפְרַ֗יִם כִּ֤י אָמְרוּ֙ פְּלִיטֵ֤י אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ אַתֶּ֔ם גִּלְעָ֕ד בְּת֥וֹךְ אֶפְרַ֖יִם בְּת֥וֹךְ מְנַשֶּֽׁה׃

‎5 ‏וַיִּלְכֹּ֥ד גִּלְעָ֛ד אֶֽת־מַעְבְּר֥וֹת הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן לְאֶפְרָ֑יִם וְֽ֠הָיָה כִּ֣י יֹאמְר֞וּ פְּלִיטֵ֤י אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ אֶעֱבֹ֔רָה וַיֹּ֨אמְרוּ ל֧וֹ אַנְשֵֽׁי־גִלְעָ֛ד הַֽאֶפְרָתִ֥י אַ֖תָּה וַיֹּ֥אמֶֽר׀ לֹֽא׃

‎6 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ לוֹ֩ אֱמָר־נָ֨א שִׁבֹּ֜לֶת וַיֹּ֣אמֶר סִבֹּ֗לֶת וְלֹ֤א יָכִין֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר כֵּ֔ן וַיֹּאחֲז֣וּ אוֹת֔וֹ וַיִּשְׁחָט֖וּהוּ אֶל־מַעְבְּר֣וֹת הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן וַיִּפֹּ֞ל בָּעֵ֤ת הַהִיא֙ מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁנַ֖יִם אָֽלֶף׃

‎7 ‏וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט יִפְתָּ֛ח אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שֵׁ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֑ים וַיָּ֗מָת יִפְתָּח֙ הַגִּלְעָדִ֔י וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּעָרֵ֥י גִלְעָֽד׃ פ

‎8 ‏וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט אַֽחֲרָיו֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִבְצָ֖ן מִבֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם׃

‎9 ‏וַיְהִי־ל֞וֹ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים בָּנִ֗ים וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים בָּנוֹת֙ שִׁלַּ֣ח הַח֔וּצָה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים בָּנ֔וֹת הֵבִ֥יא לְבָנָ֖יו מִן־הַח֑וּץ וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִֽים׃

‎10 ‏וַיָּ֣מָת אִבְצָ֔ן וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּבֵ֥ית לָֽחֶם׃ פ

‎11 ‏וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט אַֽחֲרָיו֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵיל֖וֹן הַזְּבֽוּלֹנִ֑י וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃

‎12 ‏וַיָּ֖מָת אֵל֣וֹן הַזְּבֽוּלֹנִ֑י וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר בְּאַיָּל֖וֹן בְּאֶ֥רֶץ זְבוּלֻֽן׃ פ

‎13 ‏וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אַחֲרָ֖יו אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל עַבְדּ֥וֹן בֶּן־הִלֵּ֖ל הַפִּרְעָתוֹנִֽי׃

‎14 ‏וַיְהִי־ל֞וֹ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים בָּנִ֗ים וּשְׁלֹשִׁים֙ בְּנֵ֣י בָנִ֔ים רֹכְבִ֖ים עַל־שִׁבְעִ֣ים עֲיָרִ֑ם וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה שָׁנִֽים׃

‎15 ‏וַיָּ֛מָת עַבְדּ֥וֹן בֶּן־הִלֵּ֖ל הַפִּרְעָתוֹנִ֑י וַיִּקָּבֵ֤ר בְּפִרְעָתוֹן֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ אֶפְרַ֔יִם בְּהַ֖ר הָעֲמָלֵקִֽי׃ פ

1 Ecce autem in Ephraim orta est seditio: nam transeuntes contra aquilonem, dixerunt ad Jephte: Quare vadens ad pugnam contra filios Ammon, vocare nos noluisti, ut pergeremus tecum? igitur incendemus domum tuam.

2 Quibus ille respondit: Disceptatio erat mihi et populo meo contra filios Ammon vehemens: vocavique vos, ut præberetis mihi auxilium, et facere noluistis.

3 Quod cernens, posui animam meam in manibus meis, transivique ad filios Ammon, et tradidit eos Dominus in manus meas. Quid commerui, ut adversum me consurgatis in prælium?

4 Vocatis itaque ad se cunctis viris Galaad, pugnabat contra Ephraim: percusseruntque viri Galaad Ephraim, quia dixerat: Fugitivus est Galaad de Ephraim, et habitat in medio Ephraim et Manasse.

5 Occupaveruntque Galaaditæ vada Jordanis, per quæ Ephraim reversurus erat. Cumque venisset ad ea de Ephraim numero, fugiens, atque dixisset: Obsecro ut me transire permittatis: dicebant ei Galaaditæ: Numquid Ephrathæus es? quo dicente: Non sum:

9 qui habuit triginta filios, et totidem filias, quas emittens foras, maritis dedit, et ejusdem numeri filiis suis accepit uxores, introducens in domum suam. Qui septem annis judicavit Israël:

10 mortuusque est, ac sepultus in Bethlehem.

11 Cui successit Ahialon Zabulonites: et judicavit Israël decem annis:

12 mortuusque est, ac sepultus in Zabulon.

13 Post hunc judicavit Israël Abdon filius Illel Pharathonites:

14 qui habuit quadraginta filios, et triginta ex eis nepotes, ascendentes super septuaginta pullos asinarum. Et judicavit Israël octo annis:

15 mortuusque est, ac sepultus in Pharathon terræ Ephraim, in monte Amalec.
