1  Also I⁵⁸⁹ in the first²⁵⁹ year⁸¹⁴¹ of Darius¹⁸⁶⁷ the Mede,⁴⁰⁷⁵ even I, stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ to confirm²³⁸⁸ and to strengthen⁴⁵⁸¹ him.

2  And now⁶²⁵⁸ will I show⁵⁰⁴⁶ thee the truth.⁵⁷¹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ there shall stand up⁵⁹⁷⁵ yet⁵⁷⁵⁰ three⁷⁹⁶⁹ kings⁴⁴²⁸ in Persia;⁶⁵³⁹ and the fourth⁷²⁴³ shall be far richer^{6238 1419 6239} than they all:^{4480 3605} and by his strength²³⁹³ through his riches⁶²³⁹ he shall stir up⁵⁷⁸² all³⁶⁰⁵ against⁸⁵⁴ the realm⁴⁴³⁸ of Greece.³¹²⁰

3  And a mighty¹³⁶⁸ king⁴⁴²⁸ shall stand up,⁵⁹⁷⁵ that shall rule⁴⁹¹⁰ with great⁷²²⁷ dominion,⁴⁴⁷⁴ and do⁶²¹³ according to his will.⁷⁵²²

4  And when he shall stand up,⁵⁹⁷⁵ his kingdom⁴⁴³⁸ shall be broken,⁷⁶⁶⁵ and shall be divided²⁶⁷³ toward the four⁷⁰² winds⁷³⁰⁷ of heaven;⁸⁰⁶⁴ and not³⁸⁰⁸ to his posterity,³¹⁹ nor³⁸⁰⁸ according to his dominion⁴⁹¹⁵ which⁸³⁴ he ruled:⁴⁹¹⁰ for³⁵⁸⁸ his kingdom⁴⁴³⁸ shall be plucked up,⁵⁴²⁸ even for others³¹² beside^{4480 905} those.⁴²⁸

5  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ shall be strong,²³⁸⁸ and one of⁴⁴⁸⁰ his princes;⁸²⁶⁹ and he shall be strong²³⁸⁸ above⁵⁹²¹ him, and have dominion;⁴⁹¹⁰ his dominion⁴⁴⁷⁴ shall be a great⁷²²⁷ dominion.⁴⁴⁷⁴

6  And in the end⁷⁰⁹³ of years⁸¹⁴¹ they shall join themselves together;²²⁶⁶ for the king's⁴⁴²⁸ daughter¹³²³ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ shall come⁹³⁵ to⁴¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the north⁶⁸²⁸ to make⁶²¹³ an agreement:⁴³³⁹ but she shall not³⁸⁰⁸ retain⁶¹¹³ the power³⁵⁸¹ of the arm;²²²⁰ neither³⁸⁰⁸ shall he stand,⁵⁹⁷⁵ nor his arm:²²²⁰ but she¹⁹³¹ shall be given up,⁵⁴¹⁴ and they that brought⁹³⁵ her, and he that begot³²⁰⁵ her, and he that strengthened²³⁸⁸ her in these times.⁶²⁵⁶

7  But out of a branch^{4480 5342} of her roots⁸³²⁸ shall one stand up⁵⁹⁷⁵ in his estate,³⁶⁵³ which shall come⁹³⁵ with⁴¹³ an army,²⁴²⁸ and shall enter⁹³⁵ into the fortress⁴⁵⁸¹ of the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the north,⁶⁸²⁸ and shall deal⁶²¹³ against them, and shall prevail:²³⁸⁸

8  And shall also¹⁵⁷¹ carry⁹³⁵ captives⁷⁶²⁸ into Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ their gods,⁴³⁰ with⁵⁹⁷³ their princes,⁵²⁵⁷ and with⁵⁹⁷³ their precious²⁵³² vessels³⁶²⁷ of silver³⁷⁰¹ and of gold;²⁰⁹¹ and he¹⁹³¹ shall continue⁵⁹⁷⁵ more years⁸¹⁴¹ than the king^{4480 4428} of the north.⁶⁸²⁸

9  So the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ shall come⁹³⁵ into his kingdom,⁴⁴³⁸ and shall return⁷⁷²⁵ into⁴¹³ his own land.¹²⁷

10  But his sons¹¹²¹ shall be stirred up,¹⁶²⁴ and shall assemble⁶²² a multitude¹⁹⁹⁵ of great⁷²²⁷ forces:²⁴²⁸ and one shall certainly come,^{935 935} and overflow,⁷⁸⁵⁷ and pass through:⁵⁶⁷⁴ then shall he return,⁷⁷²⁵ and be stirred up,¹⁶²⁴ even to⁵⁷⁰⁴ his fortress.⁴⁵⁸¹

11  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ shall be moved with anger,⁴⁸⁴³ and shall come forth³³¹⁸ and fight³⁸⁹⁸ with⁵⁹⁷³ him, even with⁵⁹⁷³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the north:⁶⁸²⁸ and he shall set forth⁵⁹⁷⁵ a great⁷²²⁷ multitude;¹⁹⁹⁵ but the multitude¹⁹⁹⁵ shall be given⁵⁴¹⁴ into his hand.³⁰²⁷

12  And when he hath taken away⁵³⁷⁵ the multitude,¹⁹⁹⁵ his heart³⁸²⁴ shall be lifted up;⁷³¹¹ and he shall cast down⁵³⁰⁷ many ten thousands:⁷²³⁹ but he shall not³⁸⁰⁸ be strengthened⁵⁸¹⁰ by it.

13  For the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the north⁶⁸²⁸ shall return,⁷⁷²⁵ and shall set forth⁵⁹⁷⁵ a multitude¹⁹⁹⁵ greater⁷²²⁷ than⁴⁴⁸⁰ the former,⁷²²³ and shall certainly come^{935 935} after⁷⁰⁹³ certain⁶²⁵⁶ years⁸¹⁴¹ with a great¹⁴¹⁹ army²⁴²⁸ and with much⁷²²⁷ riches.⁷³⁹⁹

14  And in those¹⁹⁹² times⁶²⁵⁶ there shall many⁷²²⁷ stand up⁵⁹⁷⁵ against⁵⁹²¹ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the south:⁵⁰⁴⁵ also the robbers^{1121 6530} of thy people⁵⁹⁷¹ shall exalt themselves⁵³⁷⁵ to establish⁵⁹⁷⁵ the vision;²³⁷⁷ but they shall fall.³⁷⁸²

15  So the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the north⁶⁸²⁸ shall come,⁹³⁵ and cast up⁸²¹⁰ a mount,⁵⁵⁵⁰ and take³⁹²⁰ the most fenced⁴⁰¹³ cities:⁵⁸⁹² and the arms²²²⁰ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ shall not³⁸⁰⁸ withstand,⁵⁹⁷⁵ neither his chosen⁴⁰⁰⁵ people,⁵⁹⁷¹ neither³⁶⁹ shall there be any strength³⁵⁸¹ to withstand.⁵⁹⁷⁵

16  But he that cometh⁹³⁵ against⁴¹³ him shall do⁶²¹³ according to his own will,⁷⁵²² and none³⁶⁹ shall stand⁵⁹⁷⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ him: and he shall stand⁵⁹⁷⁵ in the glorious⁶⁶⁴³ land,⁷⁷⁶ which by his hand³⁰²⁷ shall be consumed.³⁶¹⁵

17  He shall also set⁷⁷⁶⁰ his face⁶⁴⁴⁰ to enter⁹³⁵ with the strength⁸⁶³³ of his whole³⁶⁰⁵ kingdom,⁴⁴³⁸ and upright ones³⁴⁷⁷ with⁵⁹⁷³ him; thus shall he do:⁶²¹³ and he shall give⁵⁴¹⁴ him the daughter¹³²³ of women,⁸⁰² corrupting⁷⁸⁴³ her: but she shall not³⁸⁰⁸ stand⁵⁹⁷⁵ on his side, neither³⁸⁰⁸ be¹⁹⁶¹ for him.

18  After this shall he turn⁷⁷²⁵ his face⁶⁴⁴⁰ unto the isles,³³⁹ and shall take³⁹²⁰ many:⁷²²⁷ but a prince⁷¹⁰¹ for his own behalf shall cause the reproach²⁷⁸¹ offered by him to cease;⁷⁶⁷³ without¹¹¹⁵ his own reproach²⁷⁸¹ he shall cause it to turn⁷⁷²⁵ upon him.

19  Then he shall turn⁷⁷²⁵ his face⁶⁴⁴⁰ toward the fort⁴⁵⁸¹ of his own land:⁷⁷⁶ but he shall stumble³⁷⁸² and fall,⁵³⁰⁷ and not³⁸⁰⁸ be found.⁴⁶⁷²

20  Then shall stand up⁵⁹⁷⁵ in⁵⁹²¹ his estate³⁶⁵³ a raiser⁵⁶⁷⁴ of taxes⁵⁰⁶⁵ in the glory¹⁹²⁵ of the kingdom:⁴⁴³⁸ but within few²⁵⁹ days³¹¹⁷ he shall be destroyed,⁷⁶⁶⁵ neither³⁸⁰⁸ in anger,⁶³⁹ nor³⁸⁰⁸ in battle.⁴⁴²¹

21  And in⁵⁹²¹ his estate³⁶⁵³ shall stand up⁵⁹⁷⁵ a vile person,⁹⁵⁹ to⁵⁹²¹ whom they shall not³⁸⁰⁸ give⁵⁴¹⁴ the honor¹⁹³⁵ of the kingdom:⁴⁴³⁸ but he shall come in⁹³⁵ peaceably,⁷⁹⁶² and obtain²³⁸⁸ the kingdom⁴⁴³⁸ by flatteries.²⁵¹⁹

22  And with the arms²²²⁰ of a flood⁷⁸⁵⁸ shall they be overflown⁷⁸⁵⁷ from before^{4480 6440} him, and shall be broken;⁷⁶⁶⁵ yea, also¹⁵⁷¹ the prince⁵⁰⁵⁷ of the covenant.¹²⁸⁵

23  And after⁴⁴⁸⁰ the league²²⁶⁶ made with⁴¹³ him he shall work⁶²¹³ deceitfully:⁴⁸²⁰ for he shall come up,⁵⁹²⁷ and shall become strong⁶¹⁰⁵ with a small⁴⁵⁹² people.¹⁴⁷¹

24  He shall enter⁹³⁵ peaceably⁷⁹⁶² even upon the fattest places⁴⁹²⁴ of the province;⁴⁰⁸² and he shall do⁶²¹³ that which⁸³⁴ his fathers¹ have not³⁸⁰⁸ done,⁶²¹³ nor his fathers'¹ fathers;¹ he shall scatter⁹⁶⁷ among them the prey,⁹⁶¹ and spoil,⁷⁹⁹⁸ and riches:⁷³⁹⁹ yea, and he shall forecast²⁸⁰³ his devices⁴²⁸⁴ against⁵⁹²¹ the strongholds,⁴⁰¹³ even for⁵⁷⁰⁴ a time.⁶²⁵⁶

25  And he shall stir up⁵⁷⁸² his power³⁵⁸¹ and his courage³⁸²⁴ against⁵⁹²¹ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ with a great¹⁴¹⁹ army;²⁴²⁸ and the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ shall be stirred up¹⁶²⁴ to battle⁴⁴²¹ with a very^{5704 3966} great¹⁴¹⁹ and mighty⁶⁰⁹⁹ army;²⁴²⁸ but he shall not³⁸⁰⁸ stand:⁵⁹⁷⁵ for³⁵⁸⁸ they shall forecast²⁸⁰³ devices⁴²⁸⁴ against⁵⁹²¹ him.

26  Yea, they that feed³⁹⁸ of the portion of his meat⁶⁵⁹⁸ shall destroy⁷⁶⁶⁵ him, and his army²⁴²⁸ shall overflow:⁷⁸⁵⁷ and many⁷²²⁷ shall fall down⁵³⁰⁷ slain.²⁴⁹¹

27  And both⁸¹⁴⁷ these kings'⁴⁴²⁸ hearts³⁸²⁴ shall be to do mischief,⁴⁸²⁷ and they shall speak¹⁶⁹⁶ lies³⁵⁷⁷ at⁵⁹²¹ one²⁵⁹ table;⁷⁹⁷⁹ but it shall not³⁸⁰⁸ prosper:⁶⁷⁴³ for³⁵⁸⁸ yet⁵⁷⁵⁰ the end⁷⁰⁹³ shall be at the time appointed.⁴¹⁵⁰

28  Then shall he return⁷⁷²⁵ into his land⁷⁷⁶ with great¹⁴¹⁹ riches;⁷³⁹⁹ and his heart³⁸²⁴ shall be against⁵⁹²¹ the holy⁶⁹⁴⁴ covenant;¹²⁸⁵ and he shall do⁶²¹³ exploits, and return⁷⁷²⁵ to his own land.⁷⁷⁶

29  At the time appointed⁴¹⁵⁰ he shall return,⁷⁷²⁵ and come⁹³⁵ toward the south;⁵⁰⁴⁵ but it shall not³⁸⁰⁸ be¹⁹⁶¹ as the former,⁷²²³ or as the latter.³¹⁴

30  For the ships⁶⁷¹⁶ of Chittim³⁷⁹⁴ shall come⁹³⁵ against him: therefore he shall be grieved,³⁵¹² and return,⁷⁷²⁵ and have indignation²¹⁹⁴ against⁵⁹²¹ the holy⁶⁹⁴⁴ covenant:¹²⁸⁵ so shall he do;⁶²¹³ he shall even return,⁷⁷²⁵ and have intelligence⁹⁹⁵ with⁵⁹²¹ them that forsake⁵⁸⁰⁰ the holy⁶⁹⁴⁴ covenant.¹²⁸⁵

31  And arms²²²⁰ shall stand⁵⁹⁷⁵ on his part,⁴⁴⁸⁰ and they shall pollute²⁴⁹⁰ the sanctuary⁴⁷²⁰ of strength,⁴⁵⁸¹ and shall take away⁵⁴⁹³ the daily⁸⁵⁴⁸ sacrifice, and they shall place⁵⁴¹⁴ the abomination⁸²⁵¹ that maketh desolate.⁸⁰⁷⁴

32  And such as do wickedly against⁷⁵⁶¹ the covenant¹²⁸⁵ shall he corrupt²⁶¹⁰ by flatteries:²⁵¹⁴ but the people⁵⁹⁷¹ that do know³⁰⁴⁵ their God⁴³⁰ shall be strong,²³⁸⁸ and do⁶²¹³ exploits.

33  And they that understand⁷⁹¹⁹ among the people⁵⁹⁷¹ shall instruct⁹⁹⁵ many:⁷²²⁷ yet they shall fall³⁷⁸² by the sword,²⁷¹⁹ and by flame,³⁸⁵² by captivity,⁷⁶²⁸ and by spoil,⁹⁶¹ many days.³¹¹⁷

34  Now when they shall fall,³⁷⁸² they shall be helped⁵⁸²⁶ with a little⁴⁵⁹² help:⁵⁸²⁸ but many⁷²²⁷ shall cleave³⁸⁶⁷ to⁵⁹²¹ them with flatteries.²⁵¹⁹

35  And some of⁴⁴⁸⁰ them of understanding⁷⁹¹⁹ shall fall,³⁷⁸² to try⁶⁸⁸⁴ them, and to purge,¹³⁰⁵ and to make them white,³⁸³⁵ even to⁵⁷⁰⁴ the time⁶²⁵⁶ of the end:⁷⁰⁹³ because³⁵⁸⁸ it is yet⁵⁷⁵⁰ for a time appointed.⁴¹⁵⁰

36  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ shall do⁶²¹³ according to his will;⁷⁵²² and he shall exalt himself,⁷³¹¹ and magnify himself¹⁴³¹ above⁵⁹²¹ every³⁶⁰⁵ god,⁴¹⁰ and shall speak¹⁶⁹⁶ marvelous things⁶³⁸¹ against⁵⁹²¹ the God⁴¹⁰ of gods,⁴¹⁰ and shall prosper⁶⁷⁴³ till⁵⁷⁰⁴ the indignation²¹⁹⁵ be accomplished:³⁶¹⁵ for³⁵⁸⁸ that that is determined²⁷⁸² shall be done.⁶²¹³

37  Neither shall he regard^{5921 3808 995} the God⁴³⁰ of his fathers,¹ nor the desire²⁵³² of women,⁸⁰² nor regard any^{3605 3808 995} god:⁴³³ for³⁵⁸⁸ he shall magnify himself¹⁴³¹ above⁵⁹²¹ all.³⁶⁰⁵

38  But in⁵⁹²¹ his estate³⁶⁵³ shall he honor³⁵¹³ the God⁴³³ of forces:⁴⁵⁸¹ and a god⁴³³ whom⁸³⁴ his fathers¹ knew³⁰⁴⁵ not³⁸⁰⁸ shall he honor³⁵¹³ with gold,²⁰⁹¹ and silver,³⁷⁰¹ and with precious³³⁶⁸ stones,⁶⁸ and pleasant things.²⁵³⁰

39  Thus shall he do⁶²¹³ in the most strong holds^{4013 4581} with⁵⁹⁷³ a strange⁵²³⁶ god,⁴³³ whom⁸³⁴ he shall acknowledge⁵²³⁴ and increase⁷²³⁵ with glory:³⁵¹⁹ and he shall cause them to rule⁴⁹¹⁰ over many,⁷²²⁷ and shall divide²⁵⁰⁵ the land¹²⁷ for gain.⁴²⁴²

40  And at the time⁶²⁵⁶ of the end⁷⁰⁹³ shall the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the south⁵⁰⁴⁵ push⁵⁰⁵⁵ at⁵⁹⁷³ him: and the king⁴⁴²⁸ of the north⁶⁸²⁸ shall come against him like a whirlwind,^{8175 5921} with chariots,⁷³⁹³ and with horsemen,⁶⁵⁷¹ and with many⁷²²⁷ ships;⁵⁹¹ and he shall enter⁹³⁵ into the countries,⁷⁷⁶ and shall overflow⁷⁸⁵⁷ and pass over.⁵⁶⁷⁴

41  He shall enter⁹³⁵ also into the glorious⁶⁶⁴³ land,⁷⁷⁶ and many⁷²²⁷ countries shall be overthrown:³⁷⁸² but these⁴²⁸ shall escape⁴⁴²² out of his hand,^{4480 3027} even Edom,¹²³ and Moab,⁴¹²⁴ and the chief⁷²²⁵ of the children¹¹²¹ of Ammon.⁵⁹⁸³

42  He shall stretch forth⁷⁹⁷¹ his hand³⁰²⁷ also upon the countries:⁷⁷⁶ and the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ shall not³⁸⁰⁸ escape.^{1961 6413}

43  But he shall have power⁴⁹¹⁰ over the treasures⁴³⁶² of gold²⁰⁹¹ and of silver,³⁷⁰¹ and over all³⁶⁰⁵ the precious things²⁵³⁰ of Egypt:⁴⁷¹⁴ and the Libyans³⁸⁶⁴ and the Ethiopians³⁵⁶⁹ shall be at his steps.⁴⁷⁰³

44  But tidings⁸⁰⁵² out of the east^{4480 4217} and out of the north^{4480 6828} shall trouble⁹²⁶ him: therefore he shall go forth³³¹⁸ with great¹⁴¹⁹ fury²⁵³⁴ to destroy,⁸⁰⁴⁵ and utterly to make away²⁷⁶³ many.⁷²²⁷

45  And he shall plant⁵¹⁹³ the tabernacles¹⁶⁸ of his palace⁶⁴³ between⁹⁹⁶ the seas³²²⁰ in the glorious⁶⁶⁴³ holy⁶⁹⁴⁴ mountain;²⁰²² yet he shall come⁹³⁵ to⁵⁷⁰⁴ his end,⁷⁰⁹³ and none³⁶⁹ shall help⁵⁸²⁶ him.

1 καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ τῷ πρώτῳ Κύρου τοῦ βασιλέως εἶπέν μοι ἐνισχῦσαι καὶ ἀνδρίζεσθαι

2 καὶ νῦν ἦλθον τὴν ἀλήθειαν ὑποδεῖξαί σοι ἰδοὺ τρεῖς βασιλεῖς ἀνθεστήκασιν ἐν τῇ Περσίδι καὶ ὁ τέταρτος πλουτήσει πλοῦτον μέγαν παρὰ πάντας καὶ ἐν τῷ κατισχῦσαι αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ πλούτῳ αὐτοῦ ἐπαναστήσεται παντὶ βασιλεῖ Ἑλλήνων

3 καὶ στήσεται βασιλεὺς δυνατὸς καὶ κυριεύσει κυριείας πολλῆς καὶ ποιήσει καθὼς ἂν βούληται

4 καὶ ἐν τῷ ἀναστῆναι αὐτὸν συντριβήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ καὶ μερισθήσεται εἰς τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀνέμους τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐ κατὰ τὴν ἀλκὴν αὐτοῦ οὐδὲ κατὰ τὴν κυριείαν αὐτοῦ ἣν ἐδυνάστευσε ὅτι ἀποσταθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ καὶ ἑτέρους διδάξει ταῦτα

5 καὶ ἐνισχύσει βασιλείαν Αἰγύπτου καὶ εἷς ἐκ τῶν δυναστῶν κατισχύσει αὐτὸν καὶ δυναστεύσει δυναστεία μεγάλη ἡ δυναστεία αὐτοῦ

6 καὶ εἰς συντέλειαν ἐνιαυτῶν ἄξει αὐτούς καὶ εἰσελεύσεται βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τὴν βορρᾶ ποιήσασθαι συνθήκας καὶ οὐ μὴ κατισχύσῃ ὅτι ὁ βραχίων αὐτοῦ οὐ στήσει ἰσχύν καὶ ὁ βραχίων αὐτοῦ ναρκήσει καὶ τῶν συμπορευομένων μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ μενεῖ εἰς ὥρας

7 καὶ ἀναστήσεται φυτὸν ἐκ τῆς ῥίζης αὐτοῦ καθ᾽ ἑαυτόν καὶ ἥξει ἐπὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ καὶ ποιήσει ταραχὴν καὶ κατισχύσει

8 καὶ τοὺς θεοὺς αὐτῶν καταστρέψει μετὰ τῶν χωνευτῶν αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς ὄχλους αὐτῶν μετὰ τῶν σκευῶν τῶν ἐπιθυμημάτων αὐτῶν τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ χρυσίον ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ ἀποίσουσιν εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἔσται ἔτος βασιλεῖ βορρᾶ

9 καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς βασιλείαν Αἰγύπτου ἡμέρας καὶ ἐπιστρέψει ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ

10 καὶ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐρεθισθήσεται καὶ συνάξει συναγωγὴν ὄχλου πολλοῦ καὶ εἰσελεύσεται κατ᾽ αὐτὴν κατασύρων παρελεύσεται καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ παροξυνθήσεται ἐπὶ πολύ

11 καὶ ὀργισθήσεται βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ πολεμήσει μετὰ βασιλέως βορρᾶ καὶ παραδοθήσεται ἡ συναγωγὴ εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ

12 καὶ λήψεται τὴν συναγωγήν καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ καὶ ταράξει πολλοὺς καὶ οὐ μὴ φοβηθῇ

13 καὶ ἐπιστρέψει βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ καὶ συνάξει πόλεως συναγωγὴν μείζονα παρὰ τὴν πρώτην κατὰ συντέλειαν καιροῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς αὐτὴν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἐν ὄχλῳ πολλῷ καὶ ἐν χρήμασι πολλοῖς

14 καὶ ἐν τοῖς καιροῖς ἐκείνοις διάνοιαι ἀναστήσονται ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσει τὰ πεπτωκότα τοῦ ἔθνους σου καὶ ἀναστήσεται εἰς τὸ ἀναστῆσαι τὴν προφητείαν καὶ προσκόψουσι

15 καὶ ἐπελεύσεται βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ καὶ ἐπιστρέψει τὰ δόρατα αὐτοῦ καὶ λήψεται τὴν πόλιν τὴν ὀχυράν καὶ οἱ βραχίονες βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου στήσονται μετὰ τῶν δυναστῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται αὐτῷ ἰσχὺς εἰς τὸ ἀντιστῆναι αὐτῷ

16 καὶ ποιήσει ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἀνθεστηκὼς ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ καὶ στήσεται ἐν τῇ χώρᾳ καὶ ἐπιτελεσθήσεται πάντα ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ

17 καὶ δώσει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐπελθεῖν βίᾳ πᾶν τὸ ἔργον αὐτοῦ καὶ συνθήκας μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ποιήσεται καὶ θυγατέρα ἀνθρώπου δώσει αὐτῷ εἰς τὸ φθεῖραι αὐτήν καὶ οὐ πείσεται καὶ οὐκ ἔσται

18 καὶ δώσει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ λήψεται πολλοὺς καὶ ἐπιστρέψει ὀργὴν ὀνειδισμοῦ αὐτῶν ἐν ὅρκῳ κατὰ τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν αὐτοῦ

19 ἐπιστρέψει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ κατισχῦσαι τὴν χώραν αὐτοῦ καὶ προσκόψει καὶ πεσεῖται καὶ οὐχ εὑρεθήσεται

20 καὶ ἀναστήσεται ἐκ τῆς ῥίζης αὐτοῦ φυτὸν βασιλείας εἰς ἀνάστασιν ἀνὴρ τύπτων δόξαν βασιλέως καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις ἐσχάταις συντριβήσεται καὶ οὐκ ἐν ὀργῇ οὐδὲ ἐν πολέμῳ

21 καὶ ἀναστήσεται ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ εὐκαταφρόνητος καὶ οὐ δοθήσεται ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν δόξα βασιλέως καὶ ἥξει ἐξάπινα κατισχύσει βασιλεὺς ἐν κληροδοσίᾳ αὐτοῦ

22 καὶ τοὺς βραχίονας τοὺς συντριβέντας συντρίψει ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ

23 καὶ μετὰ τῆς διαθήκης καὶ δήμου συνταγέντος μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ποιήσει ψεῦδος καὶ ἐπὶ ἔθνος ἰσχυρὸν ἐν ὀλιγοστῷ ἔθνει

24 ἐξάπινα ἐρημώσει πόλιν καὶ ποιήσει ὅσα οὐκ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ οὐδὲ οἱ πατέρες τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ προνομὴν καὶ σκῦλα καὶ χρήματα αὐτοῖς δώσει καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν τὴν ἰσχυρὰν διανοηθήσεται καὶ οἱ λογισμοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς μάτην

25 καὶ ἐγερθήσεται ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου ἐν ὄχλῳ πολλῷ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου ἐρεθισθήσεται εἰς πόλεμον ἐν ὄχλῳ ἰσχυρῷ σφόδρα λίαν καὶ οὐ στήσεται ὅτι διανοηθήσεται ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν διανοίᾳ

26 καὶ καταναλώσουσιν αὐτὸν μέριμναι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀποστρέψουσιν αὐτόν καὶ παρελεύσεται καὶ κατασυριεῖ καὶ πεσοῦνται τραυματίαι πολλοί

27 καὶ δύο βασιλεῖς μόνοι δειπνήσουσιν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ καὶ ἐπὶ μιᾶς τραπέζης φάγονται καὶ ψευδολογήσουσι καὶ οὐκ εὐοδωθήσονται ἔτι γὰρ συντέλεια εἰς καιρόν

28 καὶ ἐπιστρέψει εἰς τὴν χώραν αὐτοῦ ἐν χρήμασι πολλοῖς καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ ἁγίου ποιήσει καὶ ἐπιστρέψει ἐπὶ τὴν χώραν αὐτοῦ

29 εἰς καιρόν καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὡς ἡ πρώτη καὶ ἡ ἐσχάτη

30 καὶ ἥξουσι Ῥωμαῖοι καὶ ἐξώσουσιν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐμβριμήσονται αὐτῷ καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ ὀργισθήσεται ἐπὶ τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ ἁγίου καὶ ποιήσει καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ διανοηθήσεται ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς ἀνθ᾽ ὧν ἐγκατέλιπον τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ ἁγίου

31 καὶ βραχίονες παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ στήσονται καὶ μιανοῦσι τὸ ἅγιον τοῦ φόβου καὶ ἀποστήσουσι τὴν θυσίαν καὶ δώσουσι βδέλυγμα ἐρημώσεως

32 καὶ ἐν ἁμαρτίαις διαθήκης μιανοῦσιν ἐν σκληρῷ λαῷ καὶ ὁ δῆμος ὁ γινώσκων ταῦτα κατισχύσουσι καὶ ποιήσουσι

33 καὶ ἐννοούμενοι τοῦ ἔθνους συνήσουσιν εἰς πολλούς καὶ προσκόψουσι ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ παλαιωθήσονται ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ καὶ ἐν προνομῇ ἡμερῶν κηλιδωθήσονται

34 καὶ ὅταν συντρίβωνται συνάξουσιν ἰσχὺν βραχεῖαν καὶ ἐπισυναχθήσονται ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς πολλοὶ ἐπὶ πόλεως καὶ πολλοὶ ὡς ἐν κληροδοσίᾳ

35 καὶ ἐκ τῶν συνιέντων διανοηθήσονται εἰς τὸ καθαρίσαι ἑαυτοὺς καὶ εἰς τὸ ἐκλεγῆναι καὶ εἰς τὸ καθαρισθῆναι ἕως καιροῦ συντελείας ἔτι γὰρ καιρὸς εἰς ὥρας

36 καὶ ποιήσει κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ παροργισθήσεται καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ἐπὶ πάντα θεὸν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν θεὸν τῶν θεῶν ἔξαλλα λαλήσει καὶ εὐοδωθήσεται ἕως ἂν συντελεσθῇ ἡ ὀργή εἰς αὐτὸν γὰρ συντέλεια γίνεται

37 καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς θεοὺς τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ προνοηθῇ καὶ ἐν ἐπιθυμίᾳ γυναικὸς οὐ μὴ προνοηθῇ ὅτι ἐν παντὶ ὑψωθήσεται καὶ ὑποταγήσεται αὐτῷ ἔθνη ἰσχυρά

38 ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ κινήσει καὶ θεόν ὃν οὐκ ἔγνωσαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ τιμήσει ἐν χρυσίῳ καὶ ἀργυρίῳ καὶ λίθῳ πολυτελεῖ καὶ ἐν ἐπιθυμήμασι

39 ποιήσει πόλεων καὶ εἰς ὀχύρωμα ἰσχυρὸν ἥξει μετὰ θεοῦ ἀλλοτρίου οὗ ἐὰν ἐπιγνῷ πληθυνεῖ δόξαν καὶ κατακυριεύσει αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πολὺ καὶ χώραν ἀπομεριεῖ εἰς δωρεάν

40 καὶ καθ᾽ ὥραν συντελείας συγκερατισθήσεται αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐποργισθήσεται αὐτῷ βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ ἐν ἅρμασι καὶ ἐν ἵπποις πολλοῖς καὶ ἐν πλοίοις πολλοῖς καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς χώραν Αἰγύπτου

41 καὶ ἐπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν χώραν μου

42 καὶ ἐν χώρᾳ Αἰγύπτου οὐκ ἔσται ἐν αὐτῇ διασῳζόμενος

43 καὶ κρατήσει τοῦ τόπου τοῦ χρυσίου καὶ τοῦ τόπου τοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ πάσης τῆς ἐπιθυμίας Αἰγύπτου καὶ Λίβυες καὶ Αἰθίοπες ἔσονται ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ αὐτοῦ

44 καὶ ἀκοὴ ταράξει αὐτὸν ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ βορρᾶ καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἐν θυμῷ ἰσχυρῷ καὶ ῥομφαίᾳ ἀφανίσαι καὶ ἀποκτεῖναι πολλούς

45 καὶ στήσει αὐτοῦ τὴν σκηνὴν τότε ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν θαλασσῶν καὶ τοῦ ὄρους τῆς θελήσεως τοῦ ἁγίου καὶ ἥξει ὥρα τῆς συντελείας αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ βοηθῶν αὐτῷ

1 καὶ ἐγὼ ἐν ἔτει πρώτῳ Κύρου ἔστην εἰς κράτος καὶ ἰσχύν

2 καὶ νῦν ἀλήθειαν ἀναγγελῶ σοι ἰδοὺ ἔτι τρεῖς βασιλεῖς ἀναστήσονται ἐν τῇ Περσίδι καὶ ὁ τέταρτος πλουτήσει πλοῦτον μέγαν παρὰ πάντας καὶ μετὰ τὸ κρατῆσαι αὐτὸν τοῦ πλούτου αὐτοῦ ἐπαναστήσεται πάσαις βασιλείαις Ἑλλήνων

3 καὶ ἀναστήσεται βασιλεὺς δυνατὸς καὶ κυριεύσει κυριείας πολλῆς καὶ ποιήσει κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ

4 καὶ ὡς ἂν στῇ ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ συντριβήσεται καὶ διαιρεθήσεται εἰς τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀνέμους τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ οὐκ εἰς τὰ ἔσχατα αὐτοῦ οὐδὲ κατὰ τὴν κυριείαν αὐτοῦ ἣν ἐκυρίευσεν ὅτι ἐκτιλήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ καὶ ἑτέροις ἐκτὸς τούτων

5 καὶ ἐνισχύσει ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ νότου καὶ εἷς τῶν ἀρχόντων αὐτοῦ ἐνισχύσει ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν καὶ κυριεύσει κυριείαν πολλὴν ἐπ᾽ ἐξουσίας αὐτοῦ

6 καὶ μετὰ τὰ ἔτη αὐτοῦ συμμειγήσονται καὶ θυγάτηρ βασιλέως τοῦ νότου εἰσελεύσεται πρὸς βασιλέα τοῦ βορρᾶ τοῦ ποιῆσαι συνθήκας μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐ κρατήσει ἰσχύος βραχίονος καὶ οὐ στήσεται τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ καὶ παραδοθήσεται αὐτὴ καὶ οἱ φέροντες αὐτὴν καὶ ἡ νεᾶνις καὶ ὁ κατισχύων αὐτὴν ἐν τοῖς καιροῖς

7 καὶ στήσεται ἐκ τοῦ ἄνθους τῆς ῥίζης αὐτῆς τῆς ἑτοιμασίας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἥξει πρὸς τὴν δύναμιν καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὰ ὑποστηρίγματα τοῦ βασιλέως τοῦ βορρᾶ καὶ ποιήσει ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ κατισχύσει

8 καί γε τοὺς θεοὺς αὐτῶν μετὰ τῶν χωνευτῶν αὐτῶν πᾶν σκεῦος ἐπιθυμητὸν αὐτῶν ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου μετὰ αἰχμαλωσίας οἴσει εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ αὐτὸς στήσεται ὑπὲρ βασιλέα τοῦ βορρᾶ

9 καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ βασιλέως τοῦ νότου καὶ ἀναστρέψει εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ

10 καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ συνάξουσιν ὄχλον δυνάμεων πολλῶν καὶ ἐλεύσεται ἐρχόμενος καὶ κατακλύζων καὶ παρελεύσεται καὶ καθίεται καὶ συμπροσπλακήσεται ἕως τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ

11 καὶ ἀγριανθήσεται βασιλεὺς τοῦ νότου καὶ ἐξελεύσεται καὶ πολεμήσει μετὰ βασιλέως τοῦ βορρᾶ καὶ στήσει ὄχλον πολύν καὶ παραδοθήσεται ὁ ὄχλος ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ

12 καὶ λήμψεται τὸν ὄχλον καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ καὶ καταβαλεῖ μυριάδας καὶ οὐ κατισχύσει

13 καὶ ἐπιστρέψει βασιλεὺς τοῦ βορρᾶ καὶ ἄξει ὄχλον πολὺν ὑπὲρ τὸν πρότερον καὶ εἰς τὸ τέλος τῶν καιρῶν ἐνιαυτῶν ἐπελεύσεται εἰσόδια ἐν δυνάμει μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν ὑπάρξει πολλῇ

14 καὶ ἐν τοῖς καιροῖς ἐκείνοις πολλοὶ ἐπαναστήσονται ἐπὶ βασιλέα τοῦ νότου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν λοιμῶν τοῦ λαοῦ σου ἐπαρθήσονται τοῦ στῆσαι ὅρασιν καὶ ἀσθενήσουσιν

15 καὶ εἰσελεύσεται βασιλεὺς τοῦ βορρᾶ καὶ ἐκχεεῖ πρόσχωμα καὶ συλλήμψεται πόλεις ὀχυράς καὶ οἱ βραχίονες τοῦ βασιλέως τοῦ νότου οὐ στήσονται καὶ ἀναστήσονται οἱ ἐκλεκτοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἰσχὺς τοῦ στῆναι

16 καὶ ποιήσει ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος πρὸς αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἑστὼς κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ στήσεται ἐν γῇ τοῦ σαβι καὶ συντελεσθήσεται ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ

17 καὶ τάξει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰσελθεῖν ἐν ἰσχύι πάσης τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ καὶ εὐθεῖα πάντα μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ποιήσει καὶ θυγατέρα τῶν γυναικῶν δώσει αὐτῷ τοῦ διαφθεῖραι αὐτήν καὶ οὐ μὴ παραμείνῃ καὶ οὐκ αὐτῷ ἔσται

18 καὶ ἐπιστρέψει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὰς νήσους καὶ συλλήμψεται πολλὰς καὶ καταπαύσει ἄρχοντας ὀνειδισμοῦ αὐτῶν πλὴν ὀνειδισμὸς αὐτοῦ ἐπιστρέψει αὐτῷ

19 καὶ ἐπιστρέψει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν ἰσχὺν τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀσθενήσει καὶ πεσεῖται καὶ οὐχ εὑρεθήσεται

20 καὶ ἀναστήσεται ἐκ τῆς ῥίζης αὐτοῦ φυτὸν βασιλείας ἐπὶ τὴν ἑτοιμασίαν αὐτοῦ παραβιβάζων πράσσων δόξαν βασιλείας καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις συντριβήσεται καὶ οὐκ ἐν προσώποις οὐδὲ ἐν πολέμῳ

21 στήσεται ἐπὶ τὴν ἑτοιμασίαν αὐτοῦ ἐξουδενώθη καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκαν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν δόξαν βασιλείας καὶ ἥξει ἐν εὐθηνίᾳ καὶ κατισχύσει βασιλείας ἐν ὀλισθρήμασιν

22 καὶ βραχίονες τοῦ κατακλύζοντος κατακλυσθήσονται ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ συντριβήσονται καὶ ἡγούμενος διαθήκης

23 καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν συναναμείξεων πρὸς αὐτὸν ποιήσει δόλον καὶ ἀναβήσεται καὶ ὑπερισχύσει αὐτοῦ ἐν ὀλίγῳ ἔθνει

24 καὶ ἐν εὐθηνίᾳ καὶ ἐν πίοσιν χώραις ἥξει καὶ ποιήσει ἃ οὐκ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ πατέρες τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ προνομὴν καὶ σκῦλα καὶ ὕπαρξιν αὐτοῖς διασκορπιεῖ καὶ ἐπ᾽ Αἴγυπτον λογιεῖται λογισμοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἕως καιροῦ

25 καὶ ἐξεγερθήσεται ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ βασιλέα τοῦ νότου ἐν δυνάμει μεγάλῃ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ νότου συνάψει πόλεμον ἐν δυνάμει μεγάλῃ καὶ ἰσχυρᾷ σφόδρα καὶ οὐ στήσεται ὅτι λογιοῦνται ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν λογισμούς

26 καὶ φάγονται τὰ δέοντα αὐτοῦ καὶ συντρίψουσιν αὐτόν καὶ δυνάμεις κατακλύσει καὶ πεσοῦνται τραυματίαι πολλοί

27 καὶ ἀμφότεροι οἱ βασιλεῖς αἱ καρδίαι αὐτῶν εἰς πονηρίαν καὶ ἐπὶ τραπέζῃ μιᾷ ψευδῆ λαλήσουσιν καὶ οὐ κατευθυνεῖ ὅτι ἔτι πέρας εἰς καιρόν

28 καὶ ἐπιστρέψει εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ ἐν ὑπάρξει πολλῇ καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ διαθήκην ἁγίαν καὶ ποιήσει καὶ ἐπιστρέψει εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ

29 εἰς τὸν καιρὸν ἐπιστρέψει καὶ ἥξει ἐν τῷ νότῳ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὡς ἡ πρώτη καὶ ὡς ἡ ἐσχάτη

30 καὶ εἰσελεύσονται ἐν αὐτῷ οἱ ἐκπορευόμενοι Κίτιοι καὶ ταπεινωθήσεται καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ θυμωθήσεται ἐπὶ διαθήκην ἁγίαν καὶ ποιήσει καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ συνήσει ἐπὶ τοὺς καταλιπόντας διαθήκην ἁγίαν

31 καὶ σπέρματα ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἀναστήσονται καὶ βεβηλώσουσιν τὸ ἁγίασμα τῆς δυναστείας καὶ μεταστήσουσιν τὸν ἐνδελεχισμὸν καὶ δώσουσιν βδέλυγμα ἠφανισμένον

32 καὶ οἱ ἀνομοῦντες διαθήκην ἐπάξουσιν ἐν ὀλισθρήμασιν καὶ λαὸς γινώσκοντες θεὸν αὐτοῦ κατισχύσουσιν καὶ ποιήσουσιν

33 καὶ οἱ συνετοὶ τοῦ λαοῦ συνήσουσιν εἰς πολλά καὶ ἀσθενήσουσιν ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ ἐν φλογὶ καὶ ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ καὶ ἐν διαρπαγῇ ἡμερῶν

34 καὶ ἐν τῷ ἀσθενῆσαι αὐτοὺς βοηθηθήσονται βοήθειαν μικράν καὶ προστεθήσονται ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς πολλοὶ ἐν ὀλισθρήμασιν

35 καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν συνιέντων ἀσθενήσουσιν τοῦ πυρῶσαι αὐτοὺς καὶ τοῦ ἐκλέξασθαι καὶ τοῦ ἀποκαλυφθῆναι ἕως καιροῦ πέρας ὅτι ἔτι εἰς καιρόν

36 καὶ ποιήσει κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ μεγαλυνθήσεται ἐπὶ πάντα θεὸν καὶ λαλήσει ὑπέρογκα καὶ κατευθυνεῖ μέχρις οὗ συντελεσθῇ ἡ ὀργή εἰς γὰρ συντέλειαν γίνεται

37 καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας θεοὺς τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ οὐ συνήσει καὶ ἐπὶ ἐπιθυμίαν γυναικῶν καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶν θεὸν οὐ συνήσει ὅτι ἐπὶ πάντας μεγαλυνθήσεται

38 καὶ θεὸν μαωζιν ἐπὶ τόπου αὐτοῦ δοξάσει καὶ θεόν ὃν οὐκ ἔγνωσαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ δοξάσει ἐν χρυσῷ καὶ ἀργύρῳ καὶ λίθῳ τιμίῳ καὶ ἐν ἐπιθυμήμασιν

39 καὶ ποιήσει τοῖς ὀχυρώμασιν τῶν καταφυγῶν μετὰ θεοῦ ἀλλοτρίου καὶ πληθυνεῖ δόξαν καὶ ὑποτάξει αὐτοῖς πολλοὺς καὶ γῆν διελεῖ ἐν δώροις

40 καὶ ἐν καιροῦ πέρατι συγκερατισθήσεται μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως τοῦ νότου καὶ συναχθήσεται ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν βασιλεὺς τοῦ βορρᾶ ἐν ἅρμασιν καὶ ἐν ἱππεῦσιν καὶ ἐν ναυσὶν πολλαῖς καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν γῆν καὶ συντρίψει καὶ παρελεύσεται

41 καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ σαβι καὶ πολλοὶ ἀσθενήσουσιν καὶ οὗτοι διασωθήσονται ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ Εδωμ καὶ Μωαβ καὶ ἀρχὴ υἱῶν Αμμων

42 καὶ ἐκτενεῖ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ γῆ Αἰγύπτου οὐκ ἔσται εἰς σωτηρίαν

43 καὶ κυριεύσει ἐν τοῖς ἀποκρύφοις τοῦ χρυσοῦ καὶ τοῦ ἀργύρου καὶ ἐν πᾶσιν ἐπιθυμητοῖς Αἰγύπτου καὶ Λιβύων καὶ Αἰθιόπων ἐν τοῖς ὀχυρώμασιν αὐτῶν

44 καὶ ἀκοαὶ καὶ σπουδαὶ ταράξουσιν αὐτὸν ἐξ ἀνατολῶν καὶ ἀπὸ βορρᾶ καὶ ἥξει ἐν θυμῷ πολλῷ τοῦ ἀφανίσαι καὶ τοῦ ἀναθεματίσαι πολλούς

45 καὶ πήξει τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ εφαδανω ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν θαλασσῶν εἰς ὄρος σαβι ἅγιον καὶ ἥξει ἕως μέρους αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ῥυόμενος αὐτόν

‎1 ‏וַאֲנִי֙ בִּשְׁנַ֣ת אַחַ֔ת לְדָרְיָ֖וֶשׁ הַמָּדִ֑י עָמְדִ֛י לְמַחֲזִ֥יק וּלְמָע֖וֹז לֽוֹ׃

‎2 ‏וְעַתָּ֕ה אֱמֶ֖ת אַגִּ֣יד לָ֑ךְ הִנֵּה־עוֹד֩ שְׁלֹשָׁ֨ה מְלָכִ֜ים עֹמְדִ֣ים לְפָרַ֗ס וְהָֽרְבִיעִי֙ יַעֲשִׁ֤יר עֹֽשֶׁר־גָּדוֹל֙ מִכֹּ֔ל וּכְחֶזְקָת֣וֹ בְעָשְׁר֔וֹ יָעִ֣יר הַכֹּ֔ל אֵ֖ת מַלְכ֥וּת יָוָֽן׃

‎3 ‏וְעָמַ֖ד מֶ֣לֶךְ גִּבּ֑וֹר וּמָשַׁל֙ מִמְשָׁ֣ל רַ֔ב וְעָשָׂ֖ה כִּרְצוֹנֽוֹ׃

‎4 ‏וּכְעָמְדוֹ֙ תִּשָּׁבֵ֣ר מַלְכוּת֔וֹ וְתֵחָ֕ץ לְאַרְבַּ֖ע רוּח֣וֹת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וְלֹ֣א לְאַחֲרִית֗וֹ וְלֹ֤א כְמָשְׁלוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָשָׁ֔ל כִּ֤י תִנָּתֵשׁ֙ מַלְכוּת֔וֹ וְלַאֲחֵרִ֖ים מִלְּבַד־אֵֽלֶּה׃

‎5 ‏וְיֶחֱזַ֥ק מֶֽלֶךְ־הַנֶּ֖גֶב וּמִן־שָׂרָ֑יו וְיֶחֱזַ֤ק עָלָיו֙ וּמָשָׁ֔ל מִמְשָׁ֥ל רַ֖ב מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃

‎6 ‏וּלְקֵ֤ץ שָׁנִים֙ יִתְחַבָּ֔רוּ וּבַ֣ת מֶֽלֶךְ־הַנֶּ֗גֶב תָּבוֹא֙ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפ֔וֹן לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת מֵישָׁרִ֑ים וְלֹֽא־תַעְצֹ֞ר כּ֣וֹחַ הַזְּר֗וֹעַ וְלֹ֤א יַעֲמֹד֙ וּזְרֹע֔וֹ וְתִנָּתֵ֨ן הִ֤יא וּמְבִיאֶ֙יהָ֙ וְהַיֹּ֣לְדָ֔הּ וּמַחֲזִקָ֖הּ בָּעִתִּֽים׃

‎7 ‏וְעָמַ֛ד מִנֵּ֥צֶר שָׁרָשֶׁ֖יהָ כַּנּ֑וֹ וְיָבֹ֣א אֶל־הַחַ֗יִל וְיָבֹא֙ בְּמָעוֹז֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפ֔וֹן וְעָשָׂ֥ה בָהֶ֖ם וְהֶחֱזִֽיק׃

‎8 ‏וְגַ֣ם אֱ‍ֽלֹהֵיהֶ֡ם עִם־נְסִֽכֵיהֶם֩ עִם־כְּלֵ֨י חֶמְדָּתָ֜ם כֶּ֧סֶף וְזָהָ֛ב בַּשְּׁבִ֖י יָבִ֣א מִצְרָ֑יִם וְהוּא֙ שָׁנִ֣ים יַעֲמֹ֔ד מִמֶּ֖לֶךְ הַצָּפֽוֹן׃³

‎9 ‏וּבָ֗א בְּמַלְכוּת֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֔גֶב וְשָׁ֖ב אֶל־אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃

‎10 ‏ובנו וּבָנָ֣יו יִתְגָּר֗וּ וְאָסְפוּ֙ הֲמוֹן֙ חֲיָלִ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים וּבָ֥א ב֖וֹא וְשָׁטַ֣ף וְעָבָ֑ר וְיָשֹׁ֥ב ויתגרו וְיִתְגָּרֶ֖ה עַד־מעזה מָעֻזּֽוֹ׃

‎11 ‏וְיִתְמַרְמַר֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֔גֶב וְיָצָ֕א וְנִלְחַ֥ם עִמּ֖וֹ עִם־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפ֑וֹן וְהֶעֱמִיד֙ הָמ֣וֹן רָ֔ב וְנִתַּ֥ן הֶהָמ֖וֹן בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

‎12 ‏וְנִשָּׂ֥א הֶהָמ֖וֹן ירום וְרָ֣ם לְבָב֑וֹ וְהִפִּ֛יל³ רִבֹּא֖וֹת וְלֹ֥א יָעֽוֹז׃

‎13 ‏וְשָׁב֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפ֔וֹן וְהֶעֱמִ֣יד הָמ֔וֹן רַ֖ב מִן־הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן וּלְקֵ֨ץ הָֽעִתִּ֤ים שָׁנִים֙ יָ֣בוֹא ב֔וֹא בְּחַ֥יִל גָּד֖וֹל וּבִרְכ֥וּשׁ רָֽב׃

‎14 ‏וּבָעִתִּ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם רַבִּ֥ים יַֽעַמְד֖וּ עַל־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֑גֶב וּבְנֵ֣י׀ פָּרִיצֵ֣י עַמְּךָ֗ יִֽנַּשְּׂא֛וּ לְהַעֲמִ֥יד חָז֖וֹן וְנִכְשָֽׁלוּ׃

‎15 ‏וְיָבֹא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפ֔וֹן וְיִשְׁפֹּךְ֙ סֽוֹלֲלָ֔ה וְלָכַ֖ד עִ֣יר מִבְצָר֑וֹת וּזְרֹע֤וֹת הַנֶּ֙גֶב֙ לֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ וְעַם֙ מִבְחָרָ֔יו וְאֵ֥ין כֹּ֖חַ לַעֲמֹֽד׃

‎16 ‏וְיַ֨עַשׂ הַבָּ֤א אֵלָיו֙ כִּרְצוֹנ֔וֹ וְאֵ֥ין עוֹמֵ֖ד לְפָנָ֑יו וְיַעֲמֹ֥ד בְּאֶֽרֶץ־הַצְּבִ֖י וְכָלָ֥ה בְיָדֽוֹ׃

‎17 ‏וְיָשֵׂ֣ם׀ פָּ֠נָיו לָב֞וֹא בְּתֹ֧קֶף כָּל־מַלְכוּת֛וֹ וִישָׁרִ֥ים עִמּ֖וֹ וְעָשָׂ֑ה וּבַ֤ת הַנָּשִׁים֙ יִתֶּן־ל֣וֹ לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֔הּ וְלֹ֥א תַעֲמֹ֖ד וְלֹא־ל֥וֹ תִהְיֶֽה׃

‎18 ‏וישב וְיָשֵׂ֧ם׀³ פָּנָ֛יו לְאִיִּ֖ים וְלָכַ֣ד רַבִּ֑ים וְהִשְׁבִּ֨ית קָצִ֤ין חֶרְפָּתוֹ֙ ל֔וֹ בִּלְתִּ֥י חֶרְפָּת֖וֹ יָשִׁ֥יב לֽוֹ׃

‎19 ‏וְיָשֵׁ֣ב פָּנָ֔יו לְמָעוּזֵּ֖י אַרְצ֑וֹ וְנִכְשַׁ֥ל וְנָפַ֖ל וְלֹ֥א יִמָּצֵֽא׃

‎20 ‏וְעָמַ֧ד עַל־כַּנּ֛וֹ מַעֲבִ֥יר נוֹגֵ֖שׂ הֶ֣דֶר מַלְכ֑וּת וּבְיָמִ֤ים אֲחָדִים֙ יִשָּׁבֵ֔ר וְלֹ֥א בְאַפַּ֖יִם וְלֹ֥א בְמִלְחָמָֽה׃

‎21 ‏וְעָמַ֤ד עַל־כַּנּוֹ֙ נִבְזֶ֔ה וְלֹא־נָתְנ֥וּ עָלָ֖יו ה֣וֹד מַלְכ֑וּת וּבָ֣א בְשַׁלְוָ֔ה וְהֶחֱזִ֥יק מַלְכ֖וּת בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃

‎22 ‏וּזְרֹע֥וֹת הַשֶּׁ֛טֶף יִשָּׁטְפ֥וּ מִלְּפָנָ֖יו וְיִשָּׁבֵ֑רוּ וְגַ֖ם נְגִ֥יד בְּרִֽית׃

‎23 ‏וּמִן־הִֽתְחַבְּר֥וּת אֵלָ֖יו יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה מִרְמָ֑ה וְעָלָ֥ה וְעָצַ֖ם בִּמְעַט־גּֽוֹי׃

‎24 ‏בְּשַׁלְוָ֞ה וּבְמִשְׁמַנֵּ֣י מְדִינָה֮ יָבוֹא֒ וְעָשָׂ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹא־עָשׂ֤וּ אֲבֹתָיו֙ וַאֲב֣וֹת אֲבֹתָ֔יו בִּזָּ֧ה וְשָׁלָ֛ל וּרְכ֖וּשׁ לָהֶ֣ם יִבְז֑וֹר וְעַ֧ל מִבְצָרִ֛ים יְחַשֵּׁ֥ב מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖יו וְעַד־עֵֽת׃

‎25 ‏וְיָעֵר֩ כֹּח֨וֹ וּלְבָב֜וֹ עַל־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּגֶב֮ בְּחַ֣יִל גָּדוֹל֒ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֗גֶב יִתְגָּרֶה֙ לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה בְּחַֽיִל־גָּד֥וֹל וְעָצ֖וּם עַד־מְאֹ֑ד וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔ד כִּֽי־יַחְשְׁב֥וּ עָלָ֖יו מַחֲשָׁבֽוֹת׃

‎26 ‏וְאֹכְלֵ֧י פַת־בָּג֛וֹ יִשְׁבְּר֖וּהוּ וְחֵיל֣וֹ יִשְׁט֑וֹף וְנָפְל֖וּ חֲלָלִ֥ים רַבִּֽים׃

‎27 ‏וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֤ם הַמְּלָכִים֙ לְבָבָ֣ם לְמֵרָ֔ע וְעַל־שֻׁלְחָ֥ן אֶחָ֖ד כָּזָ֣ב יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ וְלֹ֣א תִצְלָ֔ח כִּי־ע֥וֹד קֵ֖ץ לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃

‎28 ‏וְיָשֹׁ֤ב אַרְצוֹ֙ בִּרְכ֣וּשׁ גָּד֔וֹל וּלְבָב֖וֹ עַל־בְּרִ֣ית קֹ֑דֶשׁ וְעָשָׂ֖ה וְשָׁ֥ב לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃

‎29 ‏לַמּוֹעֵ֥ד יָשׁ֖וּב וּבָ֣א בַנֶּ֑גֶב וְלֹֽא־תִהְיֶ֥ה כָרִאשֹׁנָ֖ה וְכָאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃

‎30 ‏וּבָ֨אוּ ב֜וֹ צִיִּ֤ים כִּתִּים֙ וְנִכְאָ֔ה וְשָׁ֛ב וְזָעַ֥ם עַל־בְּרִֽית־ק֖וֹדֶשׁ וְעָשָׂ֑ה וְשָׁ֣ב וְיָבֵ֔ן עַל־עֹזְבֵ֖י בְּרִ֥ית קֹֽדֶשׁ׃

‎31 ‏וּזְרֹעִ֖ים מִמֶּ֣נּוּ יַעֲמֹ֑דוּ וְחִלְּל֞וּ הַמִּקְדָּ֤שׁ הַמָּעוֹז֙ וְהֵסִ֣ירוּ הַתָּמִ֔יד וְנָתְנ֖וּ הַשִּׁקּ֥וּץ מְשׁוֹמֵֽם׃

‎32 ‏וּמַרְשִׁיעֵ֣י בְרִ֔ית יַחֲנִ֖יף בַּחֲלַקּ֑וֹת וְעַ֛ם יֹדְעֵ֥י אֱלֹהָ֖יו יַחֲזִ֥קוּ וְעָשֽׂוּ׃

‎33 ‏וּמַשְׂכִּ֣ילֵי עָ֔ם יָבִ֖ינוּ לָֽרַבִּ֑ים וְנִכְשְׁל֞וּ בְּחֶ֧רֶב וּבְלֶהָבָ֛ה בִּשְׁבִ֥י וּבְבִזָּ֖ה יָמִֽים׃

‎34 ‏וּבְהִכָּ֣שְׁלָ֔ם יֵעָזְר֖וּ עֵ֣זֶר מְעָ֑ט וְנִלְו֧וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם רַבִּ֖ים בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃

‎35 ‏וּמִן־הַמַּשְׂכִּילִ֣ים יִכָּֽשְׁל֗וּ לִצְר֥וֹף בָּהֶ֛ם וּלְבָרֵ֥ר וְלַלְבֵּ֖ן עַד־עֵ֣ת קֵ֑ץ כִּי־ע֖וֹד לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃

‎36 ‏וְעָשָׂ֨ה כִרְצוֹנ֜וֹ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ וְיִתְרוֹמֵ֤ם וְיִתְגַּדֵּל֙ עַל־כָּל־אֵ֔ל וְעַל֙ אֵ֣ל אֵלִ֔ים יְדַבֵּ֖ר נִפְלָא֑וֹת וְהִצְלִ֙יחַ֙ עַד־כָּ֣לָה זַ֔עַם כִּ֥י נֶחֱרָצָ֖ה נֶעֱשָֽׂתָה׃

‎37 ‏וְעַל־אֱלֹהֵ֤י אֲבֹתָיו֙ לֹ֣א יָבִ֔ין וְעַל־חֶמְדַּ֥ת נָשִׁ֛ים וְעַֽל־כָּל־אֱל֖וֹהַּ לֹ֣א יָבִ֑ין כִּ֥י עַל־כֹּ֖ל יִתְגַּדָּֽל׃

‎38 ‏וְלֶאֱלֹ֙הַּ֙ מָֽעֻזִּ֔ים עַל־כַּנּ֖וֹ יְכַבֵּ֑ד וְלֶאֱל֜וֹהַּ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹא־יְדָעֻ֣הוּ אֲבֹתָ֗יו יְכַבֵּ֛ד בְּזָהָ֥ב וּבְכֶ֛סֶף וּבְאֶ֥בֶן יְקָרָ֖ה וּבַחֲמֻדֽוֹת׃

‎39 ‏וְעָשָׂ֞ה לְמִבְצְרֵ֤י מָֽעֻזִּים֙ עִם־אֱל֣וֹהַּ נֵכָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר הכיר יַכִּ֖יר יַרְבֶּ֣ה כָב֑וֹד וְהִמְשִׁילָם֙ בָּֽרַבִּ֔ים וַאֲדָמָ֖ה יְחַלֵּ֥ק³ בִּמְחִֽיר׃

‎40 ‏וּבְעֵ֣ת קֵ֗ץ יִתְנַגַּ֤ח עִמּוֹ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֔גֶב וְיִשְׂתָּעֵ֨ר עָלָ֜יו מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפ֗וֹן בְּרֶ֙כֶב֙ וּבְפָ֣רָשִׁ֔ים וּבָאֳנִיּ֖וֹת רַבּ֑וֹת וּבָ֥א בַאֲרָצ֖וֹת וְשָׁטַ֥ף וְעָבָֽר׃

‎41 ‏וּבָא֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ הַצְּבִ֔י וְרַבּ֖וֹת יִכָּשֵׁ֑לוּ וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ יִמָּלְט֣וּ מִיָּד֔וֹ אֱד֣וֹם וּמוֹאָ֔ב וְרֵאשִׁ֖ית בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃

‎42 ‏וְיִשְׁלַ֥ח יָד֖וֹ בַּאֲרָצ֑וֹת וְאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם לֹ֥א תִהְיֶ֖ה לִפְלֵיטָֽה׃

‎43 ‏וּמָשַׁ֗ל בְּמִכְמַנֵּי֙ הַזָּהָ֣ב וְהַכֶּ֔סֶף וּבְכֹ֖ל חֲמֻד֣וֹת מִצְרָ֑יִם וְלֻבִ֥ים וְכֻשִׁ֖ים בְּמִצְעָדָֽיו׃

‎44 ‏וּשְׁמֻע֣וֹת יְבַהֲלֻ֔הוּ מִמִּזְרָ֖ח וּמִצָּפ֑וֹן וְיָצָא֙ בְּחֵמָ֣א גְדֹלָ֔ה לְהַשְׁמִ֥יד וּֽלְהַחֲרִ֖ים רַבִּֽים׃

‎45 ‏וְיִטַּע֙ אָהֳלֶ֣י אַפַּדְנ֔וֹ בֵּ֥ין יַמִּ֖ים לְהַר־צְבִי־קֹ֑דֶשׁ וּבָא֙ עַד־קִצּ֔וֹ וְאֵ֥ין עוֹזֵ֖ר לֽוֹ׃

1 Ego autem ab anno primo Darii Medi stabam ut confortaretur et roboraretur.

2 Et nunc veritatem annuntiabo tibi. Ecce adhuc tres reges stabunt in Perside, et quartus ditabitur opibus nimiis super omnes: et cum invaluerit divitiis suis, concitabit omnes adversum regnum Græciæ.

3 Surget vero rex fortis, et dominabitur potestate multa, et faciet quod placuerit ei.

4 Et cum steterit, conteretur regnum ejus, et dividetur in quatuor ventos cæli: sed non in posteros ejus, neque secundum potentiam illius, qua dominatus est: lacerabitur enim regnum ejus etiam in externos, exceptis his.

5 Et confortabitur rex austri: et de principibus ejus prævalebit super eum, et dominabitur ditione: multa enim dominatio ejus.

6 Et post finem annorum fœderabuntur: filiaque regis austri veniet ad regem aquilonis facere amicitiam, et non obtinebit fortitudinem brachii, nec stabit semen ejus: et tradetur ipsa, et qui adduxerunt eam adolescentes ejus, et qui confortabant eam in temporibus.

7 Et stabit de germine radicum ejus plantatio: et veniet cum exercitu, et ingredietur provinciam regis aquilonis: et abutetur eis, et obtinebit.

8 Insuper et deos eorum, et sculptilia, vasa quoque pretiosa argenti et auri, captiva ducet in Ægyptum: ipse prævalebit adversus regem aquilonis.

9 Et intrabit in regnum rex austri, et revertetur ad terram suam.

10 Filii autem ejus provocabuntur, et congregabunt multitudinem exercituum plurimorum: et veniet properans, et inundans: et revertetur, et concitabitur, et congredietur cum robore ejus.

11 Et provocatus rex austri egredietur, et pugnabit adversus regem aquilonis, et præparabit multitudinem nimiam, et dabitur multitudo in manu ejus.

12 Et capiet multitudinem, et exaltabitur cor ejus, et dejiciet multa millia, sed non prævalebit.

13 Convertetur enim rex aquilonis, et præparabit multitudinem multo majorem quam prius: et in fine temporum annorumque veniet properans cum exercitu magno, et opibus nimiis.

14 Et in temporibus illis multi consurgent adversus regem austri: filii quoque prævaricatorum populi tui extollentur ut impleant visionem, et corruent.

15 Et venit rex aquilonis, et comportabit aggerem, et capiet urbes munitissimas: et brachia austri non sustinebunt, et consurgent electi ejus ad resistendum, et non erit fortitudo.

16 Et faciet veniens super eum juxta placitum suum, et non erit qui stet contra faciem ejus: et stabit in terra inclyta, et consumetur in manu ejus.

17 Et ponet faciem suam ut veniat ad tenendum universum regnum ejus, et recta faciet cum eo: et filiam feminarum dabit ei, ut evertat illud: et non stabit, nec illius erit.

18 Et convertet faciem suam ad insulas, et capiet multas: et cessare faciet principem opprobrii sui, et opprobrium ejus convertetur in eum.

19 Et convertet faciem suam ad imperium terræ suæ, et impinget, et corruet, et non invenietur.

20 Et stabit in loco ejus vilissimus, et indignus decore regio: et in paucis diebus conteretur, non in furore, nec in prælio.

21 Et stabit in loco ejus despectus, et non tribuetur ei honor regius: et veniet clam, et obtinebit regnum in fraudulentia.

22 Et brachia pugnantis expugnabuntur a facie ejus, et conterentur: insuper et dux fœderis.

23 Et post amicitias, cum eo faciet dolum: et ascendet, et superabit in modico populo.

24 Et abundantes, et uberes urbes ingredietur: et faciet quæ non fecerunt patres ejus, et patres patrum ejus: rapinas, et prædam, et divitias eorum dissipabit, et contra firmissimas cogitationes inibit: et hoc usque ad tempus.

25 Et concitabitur fortitudo ejus, et cor ejus adversum regem austri in exercitu magno: et rex austri provocabitur ad bellum multis auxiliis, et fortibus nimis: et non stabunt, quia inibunt adversus eum consilia.

26 Et comedentes panem cum eo, conterent illum, exercitusque ejus opprimetur: et cadent interfecti plurimi.

27 Duorum quoque regum cor erit ut malefaciant, et ad mensam unam mendacium loquentur: et non proficient, quia adhuc finis in aliud tempus.

28 Et revertetur in terram suam cum opibus multis: et cor ejus adversum testamentum sanctum, et faciet, et revertetur in terram suam.

29 Statuto tempore revertetur, et veniet ad austrum: et non erit priori simile novissimum.

30 Et venient super eum trieres, et Romani: et percutietur, et revertetur, et indignabitur contra testamentum sanctuarii, et faciet: reverteturque, et cogitabit adversum eos qui dereliquerunt testamentum sanctuarii.

31 Et brachia ex eo stabunt, et polluent sanctuarium fortitudinis, et auferent juge sacrificium: et dabunt abominationem in desolationem.

32 Et impii in testamentum simulabunt fraudulenter: populus autem sciens Deum suum, obtinebit, et faciet.

33 Et docti in populo docebunt plurimos: et ruent in gladio, et in flamma, et in captivitate, et in rapina dierum.

34 Cumque corruerint, sublevabuntur auxilio parvulo: et applicabuntur eis plurimi fraudulenter.

35 Et de eruditis ruent, ut conflentur, et eligantur, et dealbentur usque ad tempus præfinitum: quia adhuc aliud tempus erit.

36 Et faciet juxta voluntatem suam rex, et elevabitur, et magnificabitur adversus omnem deum: et adversus Deum deorum loquetur magnifica, et dirigetur, donec compleatur iracundia: perpetrata quippe est definitio.

37 Et Deum patrum suorum non reputabit: et erit in concupiscentiis feminarum, nec quemquam deorum curabit, quia adversum universa consurget.

38 Deum autem Maozim in loco suo venerabitur: et deum, quem ignoraverunt patres ejus, colet auro, et argento, et lapide pretioso, rebusque pretiosis.

39 Et faciet ut muniat Maozim cum deo alieno, quem cognovit, et multiplicabit gloriam, et dabit eis potestatem in multis, et terram dividet gratuito.

40 Et in tempore præfinito præliabitur adversus eum rex austri, et quasi tempestas veniet contra illum rex aquilonis in curribus, et in equitibus, et in classe magna, et ingredietur terras, et conteret, et pertransiet.

41 Et introibit in terram gloriosam, et multæ corruent: hæ autem solæ salvabuntur de manu ejus, Edom, et Moab, et principium filiorum Ammon.

42 Et mittet manum suam in terras: et terra Ægypti non effugiet.

43 Et dominabitur thesaurorum auri, et argenti, et in omnibus pretiosis Ægypti: per Libyam quoque, et Æthiopiam transibit.

44 Et fama turbabit eum ab oriente et ab aquilone: et veniet in multitudine magna ut conterat et interficiat plurimos.

45 Et figet tabernaculum suum Apadno inter maria, super montem inclytum et sanctum: et veniet usque ad summitatem ejus, et nemo auxiliabitur ei.
