Acts 25

GNT

9 ὁ φῆστος δὲ θέλων τοῖς ἰουδαίοις χάριν καταθέσθαι ἀποκριθεὶς τῶ παύλῳ εἶπεν, θέλεις εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα ἀναβὰς ἐκεῖ περὶ τούτων κριθῆναι ἐπ᾽ ἐμοῦ;

1  Now3767 when Festus5347 was come into1910 the3588 province,1885 after3326 three5140 days2250 he ascended305 from575 Caesarea2542 to1519 Jerusalem.2414

2  Then1161 the3588 high priest749 and2532 the3588 chief4413 of the3588 Jews2453 informed1718 him846 against2596 Paul,3972 and2532 besought3870 him,846

3  And desired154 favor5485 against2596 him,846 that3704 he would send for3343 him846 to1519 Jerusalem,2419 laying wait4160 1747 in2596 the3588 way3598 to kill337 him.846

4  But3767 3303 Festus5347 answered,611 that Paul3972 should be kept5083 at1722 Caesarea,2542 and1161 that he himself1438 would3195 depart1607 shortly1722 5034 thither.

5  Let them3588 therefore,3767 said5346 he, which among1722 you5213 are able,1415 go down with4782 me, and accuse2723 this5129 man,435 if there be any1536 2076 wickedness824 in1722 him.846

6  And1161 when he had tarried1304 among1722 them846 more4119 than2228 ten1176 days,2250 he went down2597 unto1519 Caesarea;2542 and the3588 next day1887 sitting2523 on1909 the3588 judgment seat968 commanded2753 Paul3972 to be brought.71

7  And1161 when he846 was come,3854 the3588 Jews2453 which came down2597 from575 Jerusalem2414 stood round about,4026 and laid5342 many4183 and2532 grievous926 complaints157 against2596 Paul,3972 which3739 they could2480 not3756 prove.584

8  While he846 answered for himself,626 Neither3777 against1519 the3588 law3551 of the3588 Jews,2453 neither3777 against1519 the3588 temple,2411 nor3777 yet against1519 Caesar,2541 have I offended264 any thing5100 at all.

9  But1161 Festus,5347 willing2309 to do2698 the3588 Jews2453 a pleasure,5485 answered611 Paul,3972 and said,2036 Wilt2309 thou go up305 to1519 Jerusalem,2414 and there1563 be judged2919 of4012 these things5130 before1909 me?1700

10  Then1161 said2036 Paul,3972 I stand1510 2476 at1909 Caesar's2541 judgment seat,968 where3757 I3165 ought1163 to be judged:2919 to the Jews2453 have I done no wrong,91 3762 as5613 2532 thou4771 very well2573 knowest.1921

11  For1063 if1437 I3303 be an offender,91 or2532 have committed4238 any thing5100 worthy514 of death,2288 I refuse3868 not3756 to die:599 but1161 if1487 there be2076 none3762 of these things whereof3739 these3778 accuse2723 me,3450 no man3762 may1410 deliver5483 me3165 unto them.846 I appeal1941 unto Caesar.2541

12  1161 Then5119 Festus,5347 when he had conferred4814 with3326 the3588 council,4824 answered,611 Hast thou appealed1941 unto Caesar?2541 unto1909 Caesar2541 shalt thou go.4198

13  And1161 after1230 certain5100 days2250 king935 Agrippa67 and2532 Bernice959 came2658 unto1519 Caesarea2542 to salute782 Festus.5347

14  And1161 when5613 they had been1304 there1563 many4119 days,2250 Festus5347 declared394 Paul's3972 cause2596 unto the3588 king,935 saying,3004 There is2076 a certain5100 man435 left in bonds2641 1198 by5259 Felix:5344

15  About4012 whom,3739 when I3450 was1096 at1519 Jerusalem,2414 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 the3588 elders4245 of the3588 Jews2453 informed1718 me, desiring154 to have judgment1349 against2596 him.846

16  To4314 whom3739 I answered,611 It3754 is2076 not3756 the manner1485 of the Romans4514 to deliver5483 any5100 man444 to1519 die,684 before4250 that2228 he which is accused2723 have2192 the3588 accusers2725 face to face,2596 4383 and5037 have license2983 5117 to answer for himself627 concerning4012 the3588 crime laid against him.1462

17  Therefore,3767 when they846 were come4905 hither,1759 without any3367 delay311 on the3588 morrow1836 I sat2523 on1909 the3588 judgment seat,968 and commanded2753 the3588 man435 to be brought forth.71

18  Against4012 whom3739 when the3588 accusers2725 stood up,2476 they brought2018 none3762 accusation156 of such things3739 as I1473 supposed:5282

19  But1161 had2192 certain5100 questions2213 against4314 him846 of4012 their own2398 superstition,1175 and2532 of4012 one5100 Jesus,2424 which was dead,2348 whom3739 Paul3972 affirmed5335 to be alive.2198

20  And1161 because I1473 doubted639 of1519 such manner of questions,2214 4012 5127 I asked3004 him whether1487 he would1014 go4198 to1519 Jerusalem,2419 and there2546 be judged2919 of4012 these matters.5130

21  But1161 when Paul3972 had appealed1941 to be846 reserved5083 unto1519 the3588 hearing1233 of Augustus,4575 I commanded2753 him846 to be kept5083 till2193 3757 I might send3992 him846 to4314 Caesar.2541

22  Then1161 Agrippa67 said5346 unto4314 Festus,5347 I would1014 also2532 hear191 the3588 man444 myself.848 1161 Tomorrow,839 said5346 he,3588 thou shalt hear191 him.846

23  And3767 on the3588 morrow,1887 when Agrippa67 was come,2064 and2532 Bernice,959 with3326 great4183 pomp,5325 and2532 was entered1525 into1519 the3588 place of hearing,201 with4862 5037 the3588 chief captains,5506 and2532 principal2596 1851 men435 of5607 the3588 city,4172 at2532 Festus'5347 commandment2753 Paul3972 was brought forth.71

24  And2532 Festus5347 said,5346 King935 Agrippa,67 and2532 all3956 men435 which are here present4840 with us,2254 ye see2334 this man,5126 about4012 whom3739 all3956 the3588 multitude4128 of the3588 Jews2453 have dealt1793 with me,3427 both5037 at1722 Jerusalem,2414 and2532 also here,1759 crying1916 that he846 ought1163 not3361 to live2198 any longer.3371

25  But1161 when I1473 found2638 that he846 had committed4238 nothing3367 worthy514 of death,2288 and1161 that he5127 himself848 hath2532 appealed1941 to Augustus,4575 I have determined2919 to send3992 him.846

26  Of4012 whom3739 I have2192 no3756 certain thing804 5100 to write1125 unto my lord.2962 Wherefore1352 I have brought him forth4254 846 before1909 you,5216 and2532 especially3122 before1909 thee,4675 O king935 Agrippa,67 that,3704 after examination351 had,1096 I might have2192 somewhat5100 to write.1125

27  For1063 it seemeth1380 to me3427 unreasonable249 to send3992 a prisoner,1198 and2532 not3361 withal2532 to signify4591 the3588 crimes156 laid against2596 him.846

Vul

1 Festus ergo cum venisset in provinciam, post triduum ascendit Jerosolymam a Cæsarea.

25 Ego vere comperi nihil dignum morte eum admisisse.
