Chapître 37

1

The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out⁵⁵ in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down⁵⁵ in the midst of the valley which [was] full of bones,

2

And caused me to pass⁵² by them round about: ⁵⁴³⁹ and, behold, [there were] very many in the open valley; and, lo, [they were] very dry.

And he said⁴ unto me, Son of man, can these bones live?⁴ And I answered,⁴ O Lord GOD, thou knowest.¹

4

Again he said⁴ unto me, Prophesy¹⁰ upon these bones, and say¹ unto them, O ye dry bones, hear³ the word of the LORD.

Thus saith¹ the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter⁵⁶ into you, and ye shall live:¹

6

And I will lay¹ sinews upon you, and will bring up⁵² flesh upon you, and cover¹ you with skin, and put¹ breath in you, and ye shall live;¹ and ye shall know¹ that I [am] the LORD.

So I prophesied⁸ as I was commanded:²⁷ and as I prophesied,⁹ there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together,⁴ bone to his bone.

And when I beheld,¹ lo, the sinews and the flesh came up¹ upon them, and the skin covered⁴ them above: but [there was] no breath in them.

9

Then said⁴ he unto me, Prophesy¹⁰ unto the wind, prophesy,¹⁰ son of man, and say¹ to the wind, Thus saith¹ the Lord GOD; Come³ from the four winds, O breath, and breathe³ upon these slain,⁷ that they may live.⁴

So I prophesied⁹⁸ as he commanded¹⁴ me, and the breath came⁴ into them, and they lived,⁴ and stood up⁴ upon their feet, an exceeding ³⁹⁶⁶ great army.

Then he said⁴ unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say,⁶ Our bones are dried,¹ and our hope is lost:¹ we are cut off⁸ for our parts.

12

Therefore prophesy¹⁰ and say¹ unto them, Thus saith¹ the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open⁶ your graves, and cause you to come up⁵² out of your graves, and bring⁵² you into the land of Israel.

13

And ye shall know¹ that I [am] the LORD, when I have opened² your graves, O my people, and brought you up⁵³ out of your graves,

14

And shall put¹ my spirit in you, and ye shall live,¹ and I shall place⁵² you in your own land: then shall ye know¹ that I the LORD have spoken¹⁴ [it], and performed¹ [it], saith⁷ the LORD.

15

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,²

16

Moreover, thou son of man, take³ thee one stick, and write³ upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take³ another stick, and write³ upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and [for] all the house of Israel his companions:

17

And join¹⁶ them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

18

And when the children of thy people shall speak⁴ unto thee, saying,² Wilt thou not shew⁵⁵ us what thou [meanest] by these?

19

 Say¹⁶ unto them, Thus saith¹ the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take⁶ the stick of Joseph, which [is] in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put¹ them with him, [even] with the stick of Judah, and make¹ them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

And the sticks whereon thou writest⁴ shall be in thine hand before their eyes.

21

And say¹⁶ unto them, Thus saith¹ the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take⁶ the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone,¹ and will gather¹⁴ them on every side, and bring⁵² them into their own land:

22

And I will make¹ them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided¹¹ into two kingdoms any more at all:

23

Neither shall they defile¹⁰¹ themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save⁵² them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned,¹ and will cleanse¹⁴ them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

24

And David my servant [shall be] king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd:⁶ they shall also walk⁴ in my judgments, and observe⁴ my statutes, and do¹ them.

25

And they shall dwell¹ in the land that I have given¹ unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt;¹ and they shall dwell¹ therein, [even] they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David [shall be] their prince for ever.

Moreover I will make¹ a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place¹ them, and multiply⁵² them, and will set¹ my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

27

My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

28

And the heathen shall know¹ that I the LORD do sanctify¹⁸ Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
