Le Livre du Prophète Ésaïe

Chapître 50

1
Thus saith1 the LORD, Where [is] the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away?14 or which of my creditors6 [is it] to whom I have sold1 you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold8 yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.27

2
Wherefore, when I came,1 [was there] no man? when I called,1 [was there] none to answer?6 Is my hand shortened1 at all,2 that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver?53 behold, at my rebuke I dry up55 the sea, I make4 the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh,4 because [there is] no water, and dieth4 for thirst.

3
I clothe55 the heavens with blackness, and I make4 sackcloth their covering.

4
The Lord GOD hath given1 me the tongue of the learned, that I should know2 how to speak2 a word in season to [him that is] weary: he wakeneth55 morning by morning, he wakeneth55 mine ear to hear2 as the learned.

5
The Lord GOD hath opened1 mine ear, and I was not rebellious,1 neither turned away8 back.

6
I gave1 my back to the smiters,56 and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair:6 I hid52 not my face from shame and spitting.

7
For the Lord GOD will help4 me; therefore shall I not be confounded:8 therefore have I set1 my face like a flint, and I know4 that I shall not be ashamed.4

8
[He is] near that justifieth56 me; who will contend4 with me? let us stand4 together: who [is] mine adversary? 4941 let him come near4 to me.

9
Behold, the Lord GOD will help4 me; who [is] he [that] shall condemn55 me? lo, they all shall wax old4 as a garment; the moth shall eat4 them up.

10
Who [is] among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth6 the voice of his servant, that walketh1 [in] darkness, and hath no light? let him trust4 in the name of the LORD, and stay11 upon his God.

11
Behold, all ye that kindle6 a fire, that compass [yourselves] about18 with sparks: walk3 in the light of your fire, and in the sparks [that] ye have kindled.14 This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down4 in sorrow.
