Chapître 11
- 1
- A false balance [is] abomination to the LORD: but a just weight [is] his delight.
- 2
- [When] pride cometh,1 then cometh4 shame: but with the lowly7 [is] wisdom.
- 3
- The integrity of the upright shall guide55 them: but the perverseness of transgressors6 shall destroy4 7703 1 them.
- 4
- Riches profit55 not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth55 from death.
- 5
- The righteousness of the perfect shall direct17 his way: but the wicked shall fall4 by his own wickedness.
- 6
- The righteousness of the upright shall deliver55 them: but transgressors6 shall be taken11 in [their own] naughtiness.
- 7
- When a wicked man dieth, [his] expectation shall perish:4 and the hope of unjust [men] perisheth.1
- 8
- The righteous is delivered8 out of trouble, and the wicked cometh4 in his stead.
- 9
- An hypocrite with [his] mouth destroyeth55 his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.11
- 10
- When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth:4 and when the wicked perish,2 [there is] shouting.

- By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted:4 but it is overthrown11 by the mouth of the wicked.

- He that is void of wisdom despiseth6 his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.55

- A talebearer6 7400 revealeth18 secrets: but he that is of a faithful8 spirit concealeth18 the matter.
- 14
- Where no counsel [is], the people fall:4 but in the multitude of counsellors6 [there is] safety.
- 15
- He that is surety1 for a stranger5 shall smart11 7451 [for it]: and he that hateth6 suretiship6 is sure.6
- 16
- A gracious woman retaineth4 honour: and strong [men] retain4 riches.
- 17
- The merciful man doeth good6 to his own soul: but [he that is] cruel troubleth6 his own flesh.
- 18
- The wicked worketh6 a deceitful work: but to him that soweth6 righteousness [shall be] a sure reward.
- 19
- As righteousness [tendeth] to life: so he that pursueth18 evil [pursueth it] to his own death.
- 20
- They that are of a froward heart [are] abomination to the LORD: but [such as are] upright in [their] way [are] his delight.
- 21
- [Though] hand [join] in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished:11 but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.8
- 22
- [As] a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, [so is] a fair woman which is without6 discretion.
- 23
- The desire of the righteous [is] only good: [but] the expectation of the wicked [is] wrath.
- 24
- There is that scattereth,18 and yet increaseth;12 and [there is] that withholdeth6 more than is meet, but [it tendeth] to poverty.
- 25
- The liberal soul shall be made fat:29 and he that watereth56 shall be watered55 also himself.
- 26
- He that withholdeth6 corn, the people shall curse4 him: but blessing [shall be] upon the head of him that selleth56 [it].
- 27
- He that diligently seeketh6 good procureth17 favour: but he that seeketh6 mischief, it shall come4 unto him.
- 28
- He that trusteth6 in his riches shall fall:4 but the righteous shall flourish4 as a branch.
- 29
- He that troubleth6 his own house shall inherit4 the wind: and the fool [shall be] servant to the wise of heart.
- 30
- The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth6 souls [is] wise.
- 31
- Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed29 in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.6
