Chapître 10

1

Why standest⁴ thou afar off, O LORD? [why] hidest⁵⁵ thou [thyself] in times of trouble?

2

The wicked in [his] pride doth persecute⁴ the poor: let them be taken¹¹ in the devices that they have imagined.¹

3

For the wicked boasteth¹⁴ of his heart's desire, and blesseth¹⁴ the covetous,⁶ [whom] the LORD abhorreth.¹⁴

4

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek⁴ [after God]: God [is] not in all his thoughts.

5

His ways are always grievous;⁴ thy judgments [are] far above out of his sight: [as for] all his enemies,⁶ he puffeth⁵⁵ at them.

He hath said¹ in his heart, I shall not be moved:¹¹ for [I shall] never ¹⁷⁵⁵ [be] in adversity.

His mouth is full¹ of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue [is] mischief and vanity.

8

He sitteth⁴ in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder⁴ the innocent: his eyes are privily set⁴ against the poor.

He lieth in wait⁴ secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait⁴ to catch² the poor: he doth catch⁴ the poor, when he draweth² him into his net.

10

He croucheth,⁴ [and] humbleth⁴ himself, that the poor ^{2426 2489} may fall¹ by his strong ones.

He hath said¹ in his heart, God hath forgotten:¹ he hideth⁵² his face; he will never ⁵³³¹ see¹ [it].

 Arise,³ O LORD; O God, lift up³ thine hand: forget⁴ not the humble. ⁶⁰⁴¹

13

Wherefore doth the wicked contemn¹⁴ God? he hath said¹ in his heart, Thou wilt not require⁴ [it].

14

Thou hast seen¹ [it]; for thou beholdest⁵⁵ mischief and spite, to requite² [it] with thy hand: the poor committeth⁴ himself unto thee; thou art the helper⁶ of the fatherless.

15

 Break³ thou the arm of the wicked and the evil [man]: seek out⁴ his wickedness [till] thou find⁴ none.

16

The LORD [is] King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished¹ out of his land.

17

 LORD, thou hast heard¹ the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare⁵⁵ their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:⁵⁵

18

To judge² the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more⁵⁵ oppress.²
