Le Livre de Job
Chapître 5
- 1
- Call3 now, if there be any that will answer6 thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?4
- 2
- For wrath killeth4 the foolish man, and envy slayeth55 the silly one.6
- 3
- I have seen1 the foolish taking root:56 but suddenly I cursed4 his habitation.
- 4
- His children are far4 from safety, and they are crushed101 in the gate, neither [is there] any to deliver56 [them].
- 5
- Whose harvest the hungry eateth up,4 and taketh4 it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up1 their substance.
- 6
- Although affliction cometh not forth4 of the dust, neither doth trouble spring4 out of the ground;
- 7
- Yet man is born27 unto trouble, as the sparks 7565 fly2 upward.55
- 8
- I would seek4 unto God, and unto God would I commit4 my cause:
- 9
- Which doeth6 great things and unsearchable; 2714 marvellous things12 without number:
- 10
- Who giveth6 rain upon the earth, and sendeth6 waters upon the fields:
- 11
- To set up2 on high those that be low; that those which mourn6 may be exalted1 to safety.
- 12
- He disappointeth56 the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform4 [their] enterprise.
- 13
- He taketh6 the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward12 is carried headlong.12
- 14
- They meet17 with darkness in the daytime, and grope17 in the noonday as in the night.
- 15
- But he saveth55 the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
- 16
- So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth1 her mouth.
- 17
- Behold, happy [is] the man whom God correcteth:55 therefore despise4 not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
- 18
- For he maketh sore,55 and bindeth up:4 he woundeth,4 and his hands make whole.4
- 19
- He shall deliver55 thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch4 thee.
- 20
- In famine he shall redeem1 thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
- 21
- Thou shalt be hid11 from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid4 of destruction when it cometh.4
- 22
- At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh:4 neither shalt thou be afraid4 of the beasts of the earth.
- 23
- For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace90 with thee.
- 24
- And thou shalt know1 that thy tabernacle [shall be] in peace; and thou shalt visit1 thy habitation, and shalt not sin.4
- 25
- Thou shalt know1 also that thy seed [shall be] great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
- 26
- Thou shalt come4 to [thy] grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in2 in his season.
- 27
- Lo this, we have searched1 it, so it [is]; hear3 it, and know3 thou [it] for thy good.
