Le deuxième Livre de Moïse, appelé Exode
Chapître 33
- 1
- And the LORD said17 unto Moses, Depart,3 [and] go up3 hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up52 out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware8 unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying,2 Unto thy seed will I give4 it:
- 2
- And I will send1 an angel before thee; and I will drive out14 the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
- 3
- Unto a land flowing6 with milk and honey: for I will not go up4 in the midst of thee; for thou [art] a stiffnecked 6203 people: lest I consume17 thee in the way.
- 4
- And when the people heard4 these evil tidings, they mourned:101 and no man did put1 on him his ornaments.
- 5
- For the LORD had said4 unto Moses, Say3 unto the children of Israel, Ye [are] a stiffnecked 6203 people: I will come up4 into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume14 thee: therefore now put off54 thy ornaments from thee, that I may know4 what to do4 unto thee.
- 6
- And the children of Israel stripped101 themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.
- 7
- And Moses took4 the tabernacle, and pitched1 it without the camp, afar off53 from the camp, and called1 it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, [that] every one which sought18 the LORD went out4 unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which [was] without the camp.
- 8
- And it came to pass, when Moses went out2 unto the tabernacle, [that] all the people rose up,4 and stood8 every man [at] his tent door, and looked52 after Moses, until he was gone2 into the tabernacle.
- 9
- And it came to pass, as Moses entered2 into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended,4 and stood1 [at] the door of the tabernacle, and [the LORD] talked14 with Moses.
- 10
- And all the people saw1 the cloudy pillar stand6 [at] the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up1 and worshipped,98 every man [in] his tent door.
- 11
- And the LORD spake14 unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh17 unto his friend. And he turned1 again into the camp: but his servant18 Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed55 not out of the tabernacle.
- 12
- And Moses said4 unto the LORD, See,3 thou sayest6 unto me, Bring up54 this people: and thou hast not let me know52 whom thou wilt send4 with me. Yet thou hast said,1 I know1 thee by name, and thou hast also found1 grace in my sight.
- 13
- Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found1 grace in thy sight, shew54 me now thy way, that I may know4 thee, that I may find4 grace in thy sight: and consider3 that this nation [is] thy people.
- 14
- And he said,4 My presence shall go4 [with thee], and I will give thee rest.52
- 15
- And he said4 unto him, If thy presence go6 not [with me], carry us not up55 hence.
- 16
- For wherein shall it be known11 here that I and thy people have found1 grace in thy sight? [is it] not in that thou goest2 with us? so shall we be separated,8 I and thy people, from all the people that [are] upon the face of the earth.
- 17
- And the LORD said4 unto Moses, I will do4 this thing also that thou hast spoken:14 for thou hast found1 grace in my sight, and I know4 thee by name.
- 18
- And he said,4 I beseech thee, shew54 me thy glory.
- 19
- And he said,4 I will make all my goodness pass55 before thee, and I will proclaim1 the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious1 to whom I will be gracious,4 and will shew mercy14 on whom I will shew mercy.17
- 20
- And he said,4 Thou canst4 not see2 my face: for there shall no man see4 me, and live.1
- 21
- And the LORD said,4 Behold, [there is] a place by me, and thou shalt stand8 upon a rock:
- 22
- And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by,2 that I will put1 thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover1 thee with my hand while I pass by:2
- 23
- And I will take away52 mine hand, and thou shalt see1 my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.11
