Chapître 12
- 1
- Now the LORD had said4 unto Abram, Get3 thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew55 thee:
- 2
- And I will make4 of thee a great nation, and I will bless17 thee, and make thy name great;17 and thou shalt be a blessing:
- 3
- And I will bless17 them that bless18 thee, and curse4 him that curseth18 thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.8
- 4
- So Abram departed,4 as the LORD had spoken14 unto him; and Lot went4 with him: and Abram [was] seventy 8141 and five years old when he departed2 out of Haran.
- 5
- And Abram took4 Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered,1 and the souls that they had gotten1 in Haran; and they went forth4 to go2 into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.4
- 6
- And Abram passed4 through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite [was] then in the land.
- 7
- And the LORD appeared11 unto Abram, and said,4 Unto thy seed will I give4 this land: and there builded4 he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared12 unto him.
- 8
- And he removed55 from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched4 his tent, [having] Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded4 an altar unto the LORD, and called4 upon the name of the LORD.
- 9
- And Abram journeyed,4 going2 on still2 toward the south.
- 10
- And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down4 into Egypt to sojourn2 there; for the famine [was] grievous in the land.
- 11
- And it came to pass, when he was come near52 to enter into2 Egypt, that he said4 unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know1 that thou [art] a fair woman to look upon:
- 12
- Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see4 thee, that they shall say,1 This [is] his wife: and they will kill1 me, but they will save thee alive.17
- 13
- Say,3 I pray thee, thou [art] my sister: that it may be well4 with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live1 because of thee.
- 14
- And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come2 into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld4 the woman that she [was] very fair.
- 15
- The princes also of Pharaoh saw4 her, and commended17 her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken93 into Pharaoh's house.
- 16
- And he entreated52 Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.
- 17
- And the LORD plagued17 Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.
- 18
- And Pharaoh called4 Abram, and said,4 What [is] this [that] thou hast done1 unto me? why didst thou not tell52 me that she [was] thy wife?
- 19
- Why saidst1 thou, She [is] my sister? so I might have taken4 her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take3 [her], and go3 thy way.
- 20
- And Pharaoh commanded17 [his] men concerning him: and they sent him away,17 and his wife, and all that he had.
